Three-time Victoria's Secret Fashion Show veteran Maria Borges hit the sexy labels' catwalk last night in her usual exquisite lingerie, however there was one thing noticeably missing from her normal getup: A foot-and-a-half of perfectly quaffed extensions. Yep, instead of sporting the Angel's angelic long beach waves, the Angolan-born model opted to celebrate her natural, short hair this year.

And the result? Absolutely stunning-just look for yourself!

"Are you ready for the 2015 @VictoriasSecret fashion show?! I'll be rocking my Afro hair this year for THE show!," the 23-year-old model shared on Twitter on Nov. 6, followed by this Instagram caption on Nov. 8: " Tomorrow, this Angolan-born dreamer will be walking her 3rd #VSFS in a row, whilst rocking her Afro natural hair. All I can say is THANK YOU, I don't take it for granted!'

Don't get us wrong-we adored Maria's extensions before too-but her "afro natural hair" is just the thing the VS runway was missing. Recall, Victoria's Secret bombshell waves are practically mandated for the models at the show. Plus, it wasn't all too long ago (three years, to be exact) that Karlie Kloss made Angel history for being the first of the brand's supermodels to chop off her waist-length tresses into a flirty bob.

Note: We already mentioned that Maria's rocked long extensions in the past, but she did in fact have longer hair up until this past New York Fashion week, during which time she chopped her hair short at the request of Riccardo Tisci for the Givenchy show.

While Maria isn't technically the first gal to rock natural hair on the VS runway-considering Ajuma Nasenyana rocked a fully shaved head back in 2006 - we're still giving this supermodel major, groundbreaking props.

India Arie was singing "I am not my hair" years ago, but the stigma of natural Afro-textured hair still prevails in some arenas. Which is exactly why Maria Borges' Victoria's Secret Fashion Show appearance was so monumental. On a runway visibly dominated by straight-haired models, Borges ditched her extensions for her natural kinks.

"I told my agent I wanted to walk in the Victoria's Secret show with my natural hair," Borges told Essence in a recent interview. "I was nervous, but I had to do it. When they said 'yes,' I didn't expect it, but I was so happy!"

Borges also shared words of wisdom for those who are still hesitant about wearing their natural hair.

"Be strong," she said. "If you say you're beautiful without hair and makeup, then they will believe you. It's about being confident and always being yourself."
