Mother of the 'Cool Ruler' Gregory Isaacs dead at 85

Enid Murray passed away on July 24 at the University Hospital of the West Indies. She was 85.

Ms Murray, who was diabetic, suffered a stroke early last week and was admitted to hospital.

Enid Murray was born in Kingston and earned a living as a hairdresser. Gregory Isaacs, the older of her two sons, is hailed as one of the chief exponents of lovers' rock reggae.

Known for hits such as Soon Forward and Night Nurse, the Cool Ruler died in October 2010.. Enid Murray is survived by 22 grandchildren as well as several great-grandchildren.
