Yazz the Greatest to perform at Reggae Sumfest

yazz-the-greatest-getty-image.jpgYoung, up and coming rapper, Yazz, from the hit TV show 'Empire', has been confirmed to appear at this year's staging of Reggae Sumfest, which will run from July 12-18, at Catherine Hall, Montego Bay.

The 21-year-old rapper/actor is scheduled to perform on International night one of the annual concert on Friday July 17. Johnny Gourzong, Executive Director of Summerfest Productions, producers of the event is ecstatic at the young acts inclusion.

"Summerfest is committed to the development of music in this hemisphere and believes that young artistes must have a platform to showcase their talents. The Sumfest stage has been the platform for many young acts and we are happy to confirm that Yazz will be one of those at the 2015 staging," Gourzong said.

Yazz is popularly known for his role in the thrilling television series 'Empire', as Hakeem Lyon, an aspiring rapper and son of platinum rapper and producer, Lucious Lyons.

Born Bryshere Gray, Yazz the Greatest as he is known on stage, is already a skilled hip hop artist in his own right. He started rapping at the age of 16, after being injured playing football for the Overbrook High School team. The Philadelphia rapper spent his recoup months studying music and in 2011 released his first music video for his single 'Ransom', which earned him a place as one of the city's top young artiste.

Although he is yet to officially release his debut album, Yazz has been making a buzz since 2013 with tours and appearances at music festivals including Jay Z's Made in America Festival.
