keith-sweat.jpgAmerican R&B artiste Keith Sweat, the main architect behind 'Swestfest' the three-day festival to be held this weekend, will be the first of the group to arrive in the island, with the rest of the roster set to fly in on Friday. The 11 international acts for the show include Joe, Ginuwine, Tank, SWV, Silk, 112 and Dru Hill.

According to the event coordinator, Junior Taylor, all is set for the inaugural staging of the SweatFest. He said for Saturday's concert, the venue -- the Aqueduct, along the Rosehall main road in the second city -- has already been prepared and the crew constructing the stage is already on site.

"The facilities for the other two events are basically set. Friday's black tie dinner which will take the form of a 'comedy roast' is ready to go. All the entertainers are scheduled to be at this event to be held at Secrets Resort. Sunday's beach party is also set. The Seawind Beach Club will be the venue," Taylor explained.

He further disclosed that approximately 400 people, primarily from the United States, will be coming to attend the events. The event coordinator said for this reason, he is working on convincing Sweat to make Jamaica the home for SweatFest.

"The plan is to have SweatFest as a permanent fixture on our entertainment calendar here in Jamaica. One of the major challenges this year is that it is falling in the busy time of year -- that 90 days of Summer. This has made it difficult to secure the level of sponsorship that was envisioned, but by shifting the dates to earlier in the year, the event should be able to attract more sponsors," said Taylor.
