Race car driver from Mo Bay, Daryl King, is dead

Popular Montego Bay-based race car driver Daryl King died while watching Furious 7 on Thursday night. King, who was living with a heart condition, died while entertaining himself with a film dedicated to his favourite pastime.

The car racing enthusiast was the winner of the 2013 Jamaica Millennium Motoring Club/Drivers Rallysport club rally sport title. Racing is deep-rooted in King's family. Daryl's late father, Raynor King, and his cousin, Richard Rerrie, are former local car racing champions.

Several persons expressed sadness at King's passing on Facebook.

"Race in peace. RIP to mi real solider, fallen solider," Shackeil Says Hi wrote on King's Facebook timeline.

Rudolph Sam Wahrmann wrote: "Miss you cous cant believe but the creator knows best and you are in good hands. This does not feel real."

Furious 7 is the latest edition of Fast and the Furious, the American movie franchise centred around street car racing.
