Queen Latesha believes sucking should have no place in dancehall, this is what she said in a recent interview.

"I go to Europe and Japan to teach dancing at workshops and nobody will book you for walking like a dog or sucking on a bottle in the dancehall. I am fed up with these songs which are degrading females, and I don't want my music to travel in a direction of slackness, but I just wanted to flip the script to show Gage how it feels and how it sounds when he speaks to females in that manner," Queen Latesha said.

She even chastised selectors for endorsing songs which blatantly objectifies females. Songs like Touch You by Alkaline, which encourages females to stimulate his rectum with their tongue, and Throat Queen Latesha believes should have no place in dancehall.

"Dem hurry come up selector and artiste yah need to do better. As for the females, none of these artistes that tell you to perform these acts will want to wife you, they don't want a woman who does the disgusting things they tell you to do. Artistes need to do songs to empower women, some of them only sing songs because they have the opportunity to and have no substance," she said.

However the woman in the photo doesn't seem to care.

UK police snare 660 suspected pedophiles

(CNN) -- UK police have arrested 660 suspected pedophiles -- including doctors, teachers and scout leaders -- in a six-month operation spanning the country, the National Crime Agency said Wednesday.

The operation -- which targeted people accessing indecent images of children online -- involved 45 police forces across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

More than 400 children across the United Kingdom have been protected from harm as a result, the National Crime Agency said in a statement.

Thirty-nine of the suspects were registered sex offenders, the statement said, meaning the vast majority were not previously known to police. Their number also included social care workers and former police officers.

UK to probe Westminster pedophile ring 29 arrested in child porn investigation

The operation was kept under wraps until Wednesday to protect children and gather evidence against the accused, the statement said.

The National Crime Agency is not revealing the methods used to track down the suspects because it hopes to deploy them again in the future.

The charges brought so far range from possession of indecent images of children to serious sexual assault, it said. Many suspects have yet to be charged in the case.

"This is the first time the UK has had the capability to coordinate a single targeted operation of this nature," said Phil Gormley, the agency's deputy director general.

"Our aim was to protect children who were victims of, or might be at risk of, sexual exploitation. A child is victimized not only when they are abused and an image is taken. They are re-victimized every time that image is viewed by someone."

Some of those who start by looking at indecent images online go on to abuse children directly, he said, so arresting them now may prevent them from crossing that line.

The operation comes amid wide public concern over the issue of sexual abuse of children in the United Kingdom.

Children's TV entertainer Rolf Harris was sentenced this month to five years and nine months in prison for a string of indecent assaults against women and girls.

His trial came in the wake of shocking revelations of predatory sexual behavior by the late TV host Jimmy Savile against vulnerable children and adults.

The publicity around those high-profile cases appears to have encouraged others to come forward with allegations of abuse.

Chief Constable Simon Bailey said the majority of police forces in England and Wales are dealing with an "unprecedented increase" in reports of sexual abuse of children.

"Forces are investigating exploitation of children and young people by groups and gangs, non-recent abuse including large-scale investigations into abuse in institutions over many years and sexual abuse by parents and family members," he said.

Queen Latesha lashes out at Gage for encouraging females to perform oral sex with his pro-oral sex single Throat.

Queen Latesha has counteracted the single, and says Throat is derogatory to females and she wants her counteraction called, Yu Mouth, to make male artistes understand how it feels when females have to contend with filthy content targeting their sex life.

The dancer also condemns females who endorse the songs in the dancehall by performing various taboo acts to get attention, such as sucking on liquor bottles to show their skills at performing oral sex.

It might be a case of using an 'eye for an eye'' technique. However, Queen Latesha says she was simply giving males a taste of their own medicine when she crafted the explicit lyrics "Open up yu, open up yu, open up yu mouth, bwoy".

"The male artistes are not elevating females and telling them to take their kids to school. All they are saying is oral sex and walk like a dog. This Throat song has females sucking off bottles in the dance and that is not a good look as a real veteran female dancer. I have been in the business over 10 years and I feel a way. When the world sees videos of females sucking on bottles and call it dancing, it will stop us from getting work...I go to Europe and Japan to teach dancing at workshops and nobody will book you for walking like a dog or sucking on a bottle in the dancehall. I am fed up with these songs which are degrading females, and I don't want my music to travel in a direction of slackness, but I just wanted to flip the script to show Gage how it feels and how it sounds when he speaks to females in that manner...Dem hurry come up selector and artiste yah need to do better. The Ministry of Health revealed last night that its heightened surveillance system has detected a suspected imported case of the chikungunya virus.

In a release from the health ministry, Chief Medical Officer Dr Kevin Harvey said the case was an individual who travelled from an affected country and fell ill.

The individual had screening tests done at a private laboratory in Jamaica, which gave indications of the illness.

A sample which was taken and sent to the Caribbean Public Health Agency for confirmation, if found positive, would confirm Jamaica's first imported case of the chikungunya virus.

The health ministry said it had been putting measures in place for more than two years in anticipation of the chikungunya virus reaching Jamaican shores.

The ministry urges persons travelling to and from countries that have confirmed cases of the virus to ensure that they protect themselves from mosquito bites by using insect repellent containing DEET and covering their bodies as much as possible by, for example, wearing long-sleeved clothing.

There is no specific treatment for the chikungunya virus nor is there a vaccine.

As of Monday, 28 countries and territories in the Caribbean and Latin America have reported cases of chikungunya, with 5,227 confirmed.

Symptoms of chikungunyan:

  • High fever
  • Headache
  • Muscle pain
  • Joint pain mainly in the limbs and large joints
  • A rash

Although it does not often result in death, joint pains and stiffness can last for months and even years. It may become a source of chronic pain and disability, resulting in the individual being unable to attend work or school.

Infants and the elderly are at greater risk for more severe disease. There are some diseases that may increase the risk for severe reactions such as diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease.

Anyone who experiences any of the symptoms of chikungunya is asked to visit a doctor or the nearest health centre immediately.

Asafa and Sherone vindicated by CAS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Kingston, Jamaica July 14, 2014 - Asafa Powell and Sherone Simpson this morning received their Arbitral Award from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Both Athletes wish to first and foremost thank CAS for its fast, effective and world class jurisprudence. The hearings were professionally conducted and focused on the law and therefore the sanction of 6 months commencing on June 21, 2013 is understood and accepted by both Asafa and Sherone as that is what the law calls for in such cases.

"I never felt that I should not have received a sanction" said Asafa, "However, I always felt that the 18 months was not in line with a first time positive test result and it being proven it came from a tainted supplement."

CAS has not just reduced the sentences of both athletes but it also awarded ALL costs associated with arbitration for the CAS hearing as well as additional monies in legal fees to be paid by JADCO. It is believed to be one of the largest awards in the history of CAS.

Simpson said "I feel total relief and that we have finally been vindicated. We both knew that we had done all we could to ensure the supplement was ok before taking it ... our actions were not intentional and CAS has recognized that. I am truly thankful."

Asafa and Sherone are eligible to run immediately and will both be back on the track tomorrow July 14, 2014 at Luzern Spitzenleichtathletik in Switzerland with a renewed sense of excitement and passion.

Paul Greene attorney for both athletes said "We are elated by the results but knew all along this is the sanction the case law interpreting the World Anti-Doping Code demanded. The Code requires that sanctions for athletes be harmonized in light of their degree of fault.  Asafa and Sherone's degree of fault when compared to the athletes sanctioned before them was at the low end of the 0-24 month range under Article 10.4 of the Code. The real shame of this is that we can't go back in time to December 22, 2013 when they should have been back competing. Had the JADCO Panel followed the IAAF rules Asafa and Sherone would have had a hearing within 3 months and been able to compete all of 2014. The nearly historic cost that JADCO will be required to pay is a sign from the CAS that JADCO's failures in handling their cases are unacceptable."

Both athletes are grateful for the support they received not just from friends and family over the last year but also from their fellow Jamaicans and they cannot wait to hit the track and fly the Jamaican flag high.

The authorities in St. Kitts and Nevis have revoked the work permit granted to Jamaican artiste, Alkaline, to perform in the country today.

Alkaline, whose given name is Earlan Bartley, was scheduled to headline a concert in Nevis.

In a statement, Police Commissioner Celvin Walwyn said the Nevis Police Command decided to revoke the permission granted for the concert, out of respect for the Office of the Premier.

Commissioner Walwyn said, prior to the revocation, he sent Premier Vance Amory an article on an incident involving Jamaican artiste Tommy Lee Sparta. That artiste is in a row with Dominica over his alleged denial of entry in February.

The Commissioner said he warned the Premier of civil issues resulting from a revocation of permission to the Alkaline headlined concert.

Premier Amory had raised strong objection to Alkaline's performance on the ground that it could elicit lewdness. He said the lyrics may further aggravate the already fragile social environment and impressionable young people.

Convicted murderer, Adidja Palmer is to file a multimillion-dollar defamation lawsuit against the outgoing Commissioner of Police, Owen Ellington and Television Jamaica (TVJ).

Palmer's lead attorney Tom Tavares-Finson says the lawsuit is in relation to comments made on the April 9 episode of the current affairs programme All Angles on TVJ hosted by Dionne Jackson-Miller.

Palmer, who is popularly known as 'Vybz Kartel' is expected to file the claim in the Supreme Court this afternoon through attorney-at-law Alexander Williams.

Tavares-Finson stated that the entertainer, who is serving a life sentence, signed the court documents this morning.

Tavares-Finson argues that the commissioner's comments are prejudicing the entertainer's appeal.

However, the Police High Command has rejected the criticisms, noting that the claims were already well-established.

Last week, Ellington announced his retirement from the police force.

In April, Kartel, and three other men were sentenced to life in prison for the 2011 murder of Clive 'Lizard' Williams.

He has filed an appeal against his conviction but the notes of evidence for the legal process have not yet been completed.

Local DJ Sanjay is alleged to have been booted from Coppershot, a sound system he has been playing with prior to being signed to Fame FM.

According to sources, the owners of the sound system have been at odds with the DJ because he has constantly made references to Fame FM when he is doing gigs on the behalf of Coppershot.

The sources allege that Sanjay has constantly used Fame FM jingles in his juggling instead of promoting Coppershot when he is on the road. The DJ recently played at Absinthe, however he did not share stage with fellow Coppershot DJs Cutty and others.

It is also said that Cutty did not bigup Sanjay who had just played before him, neither did Sanjay, despite the fact that they play the same sound system.

Mr Vegas has accused fellow recording artiste I-Octane of trying to sabotage his performance at the upcoming Reggae Sumfest by telling his back-up singer to stop working with him, an accusation denied by I-Octane's camp.

"Its unfortunate that, two weeks leading up to the show, I have to be searching for a back-up singer, and me and this person have been working together for over three years, without problems. She was forced to stop working with me because she was asked to choose between me and I-Octane, and she decided that she will not take any side," Mr Vegas continued.

"As a female, the back-up singer felt intimidated and sey she cannot work with neither me nor I- Octane for this Sumfest, because she doesn't want to be in such a position. It's unfortunate that they took such a route because they didn't need to involve her," Mr Vegas said, adding he will now have to train a new backup singer, who will be less familiar with his material. I take my show very professional because I choose performance over a bag of torches. She is also going to lose money because of this and to think she only started to work with I-Octane about a year now, it's sad because I was ok with her working with him" . He said.

-Octane's manager Ray Alexander, denied giving the back-up singer an ultimatum. Alexander also connected the media with Thamara, the organiser of I-Octane's back-up singers.

"Somebody has filled her spot to be I-Octane's back-up, but we have no problems with her working with Mr Vegas," she said.

J'can bisexual denied asylum in UK

A Jamaican bisexual who yesterday lost his asylum battle in a British court is now facing deportation.

According to the Advocate.com, the 32-year-old Jamaican, Orashia Edwards, lost his lengthy legal battle with the United Kingdom's Home Office when he was denied asylum on the basis of his sexuality. The court concluded that Edwards was "dishonest" about his sexuality, apparently not believing that he is bisexual.

Edwards and his family fear that he will face persecution upon the return to his homeland because of his sexual orientation, the report said.

The Advocate.com report said that although the court did not release any official documentation about why it found his sexual orientation "dishonest", Edwards does have a newborn daughter in Leeds, where he has reportedly been residing for the past 14 years.

Outside of the courtroom, the scene was tearful as family and friends expressed outrage at the decision.

"What they are doing is they are sending my son to die, and I will never forgive them for that," Edwards' mother told ITV.com. "I will never forgive this government for that," the report quoted her.

Leeds for Change -- an organisation that campaigns on behalf of LGBT asylum-seekers -- staged protests earlier this year, started an online petition which garnered nearly 1,000 signatures, hoping to interrupt his deportation, and successfully got a flight cancelled that was meant to deport Edwards last January. The activist group is looking to obtain a similar outcome for the British Airways flight scheduled to deport Edwards today, asking followers to call, tweet, and e-mail the airline and ask that it cancel his flight, said the Advocate.com report.

Minister of National Security, Honourable Peter Bunting, has been advised of the request by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Owen Ellington to retire from his post on completion of vacation leave due to him.

He will proceed on leave on Tuesday July 1, 2014.

Commissioner Ellington has indicated that his decision to retire is based on the need to separate himself from the leadership and management of the Force prior to the commencement of the upcoming Commission of Enquiry into the conduct of the Operations of the Security Forces in Western Kingston and other areas during the limited State of Emergency in 2010.

In addition, he believes it will allow the Independent Commission of Investigations, INDECOM, to conduct its investigation into allegations of police-involved killings in the Clarendon Division (some of which occurred during his tenure) without any perception of influence or interference on his part.

The Minister of National Security expresses appreciation for the thirty-four years of service Mr. Ellington gave to the Jamaica Constabulary Force and the people of Jamaica.

The Minister also acknowledges Mr. Ellington's contribution to improving the professionalism of the JCF and establishing strategies that have led to a significant reduction in crime and improvement in public security during his tenure as Commissioner.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Glenmore Hinds has been appointed to act as Commissioner of Police effective Tuesday, July 1, 2014 while the Police Service Commission commences the process of appointing a new Commissioner of Police.

It is also said that Cutty did not bigup Sanjay who had just played before him, neither did Sanjay, despite the fact that they play the same sound system.

mr-vegas-and-i-octane.jpg

Police Commissioner Owen Ellington to retire
