The Morant Bay police are investigating the circumstances under which a skull, pieces of bones, and a pair of Clarks shoes were stolen from a grave at the Red Hills Cemetery in St Thomas, last Friday.

The absence of a skull prompted talk of obeah among the onlookers.

The Morant Bay police, who are investigating, are now following leads that the grave may have been broken into by a family member in search of money relatives may have buried with the dead. It understood that only $2,000 and a pair of Clarks shoes were with the deceased.

Meanwhile, family members were disgruntled with how the police dealt with the matter. They argued that they should have been notified first rather than being told after they arrived at the scene.

Dancehall artiste Destiny Sparta says positive music is not getting attention in dancehall. According to the artiste signed to Tommy Lee Sparta's Guzu Musiq, positive music takes longer to blow up.

The artiste also pointed to Assassin, who she says does positive music, but is yet to receive the deserved respect from dancehall's audience.

Demarco made a triumphant return to the African continent over the weekend, performing to a mammoth gathering on Saturday night during the Club Music Street Jam held at First Street, Industrial Area.

The concert marked Demarco's second in the Ugandan capital Kampala, and it was a prodigious success measured by any standard.

The buzz surrounding his arrival also made headlines in the Ugandan Daily Monitor, one of the country's premium news tabloids.

Hordes of Africans queued up at the venue as early as 6 p.m. ready to catch one of the finest dancehall artistes to grace today's music alongside a number of local acts. Performances kicked off at 8:30 p.m. with the night's emcee Dave Dash, attempting to up the ante early, urging the over 30,000 in attendance to sing and dance along to popular musical selections courtesy of DJ Aludah, DJ Joe, Slick Stuart and Shiru.

Performances from local artistes Leyla Kayondo, Aziz Azion, Michael Ross, Don MC, Rabadaba, Mun G and Jose Chameleone soon followed, clearing the way for Demarco who finally got on stage at 12:45 a.m., sending the crowd into a frenzy.

Living up to his promise of a memorable event, he performed most of his classics interspersed with new favourites such as Lazy Body and Fren Circle. The atmosphere became so charged at one point that even noted African musician Sheena Karungi got involved in a dancing contest during his set.

Demarco performed for over an hour and ended his sweat-drenched performance with Blessings, a collaboration done with Ugandan singer Peter Miles. After thanking the crowd for their hospitality and patronage he was quickly whisked away by heavy security detail, thereafter more local artistes got involved and stretched the night's festivities until the wee hours of Sunday morning. The show was sponsored by Club Beer and organised by Silk events.

Gullyside artiste 3 STAR has denied allegations that he was slapped in the face at a recent stage show after attempting to block Alliance deejay Iyara from entering the stage for a clash.

The two deejays have been at odds since Bounty Killer decided to answer Mavado's subliminal disses recently. Iyara and 3 STAR have release at least three songs each targeting each other.

Bounty Killer himself has aimed three songs at Mavado. Mavado is yet to respond with a direct counteraction. However sources claim that the artiste has something soon to be released which will address his issues with his mentor.

beres-hammond-photo-1.jpg
Known to many as the "Otis Redding of Reggae," Beres Hammond has been producing and pouring out his smoky-sweet vocals over every kind of riddim track for almost 40 years. Beres Hammond, who ignited New York City with musical flames when he last appeared on Groovin' In  The Park in 2012, has a track record of hits that is unprecedented in reggae, including "Rockaway," "In Love With You," "What One Dance Can Do," "She Loves Me Now," "Step Aside," "Double Trouble" and "Putting Up Resistance." marcia-griffiths-photos-3.jpg
Hailed as the only Jamaican female vocalist to have chart-topping success in such a vast range of styles (doo-wop covers, rock steady, roots and funk), Marcia Griffiths' versatility and willingness to adapt has worked to her advantage. From her international break as one of the I-Threes (Bob Marley's iconic backing trio) to her chart-topping success with "Electric Boogie" (the 80s hit prompting the Electric Slide dance), the First Lady of Reggae's accomplishments have commanded royal respect throughout her 40-year plus career. During her set at Groovin In The Park, she will perform alongside original I-Threes' member Judy Mowatt, veteran singer John Holt and her long-time singing partner Bob Andy. Marcia Griffiths and Judy Mowatt were recently honored with the "Reggae Ambassador's Award" in New York by VP Records and Groovin Inc.

chronixx-photo-5.jpg
The 21-year-old roots vocalist Chronixx is one of hottest new reggae artists on the circuit. He recently dropped his new project Dread & Terrible, which was written entirely by himself. The conscious singer-songwriter has been building a name for himself with energetic live performances and raves reviews from media and industry alike. In a recent Billboard interview, Island Records' founder Chris Blackwell said Chronixx's music is "completely fresh, uplifting and very pure." Major Lazer selector Walshy Fire added that "the world will recognize him as one of reggae's greatest artists." Jay Z was ferociously assaulted by Beyonce's sister Solange who was wildly kicking and swinging at him inside an elevator ... and the attack was captured on surveillance video. The altercation took place at the Met Gala after party last week at the Standard Hotel in NYC. In the video ... Jay Z, Beyonce and Solange step into the elevator ... and then Solange goes crazy, screaming at Jay before unleashing a violent attack.

A large man, who appears to be a bodyguard -- attempts to hold Solange back, but she manages to connect at least 3 times. At one point Solange throws a kick and Jay grabs her foot, but never attempts to strike her. Beyonce stands by without getting physically involved.

At one point, Solange smacks Jay with her purse ... spilling the contents all over the floor of the elevator.

Eventually the group exits the elevator, but not before Solange takes a few last shots.

All three walked out of the building together -- Solange looks pissed -- but while Bey and Solange get in one car ... security walks Jay to a different one.

It's unclear what triggered the fight.

Dancehall artiste Flexxx accuses Mavado of sealing money from American rapper Drake which was intended to build a library in Cassava Piece.

According to Flexxx who is also a the former ghost writer for Mavado, the singer took Drake's money and promised to start a library in the community, however over two years has passed and Mavado is yet to erect a library in Cassava Piece, but instead used the money for his personal benefit buying luxury cars and houses. Listen his song posted below for details.

Flexxx and Mavado fell out after the singer went on Irie FM to deny that the deejay was featured on his U.S tour. Mavado later allegedly had Flexxx's U.S Visa revoked and blocked him from recording with several established producers.

As you read this, the over 200 female students abducted on April 14 from Government Girls School,Chibok, in Borno State are passing through hard times, with some of them being rapéd for as much as 15 times a day.

One of the abducted girls who managed to escape made this shocking revelations.

According Daily Mirror, "Families of the schoolgirls, aged between 15 to 18, are certain their daughters are now being used as séx slaves by an extreme sect that has killed 1,500 people since the start of this year alone. They are captives in the wild Sambisa Forest in north-east Nigeria where Boko Haram has a heavily armed camp of bunkers, tunnels, ramshackle buildings and tents.

"One girl who recently escaped following an earlier kidnapping said she was prized as a terror leader's wife because she had been a virgin. She said young female captives were raped up to 15 times a day, forced to convert to Islam and had their throats cut if they refused."

Daily Mirror said that "under President Goodluck Jonathan, the Nigerian government appears to have done little except issue an entirely false claim that most of the girls had been rescued by defence forces."

It quotes Mma Odi, executive director of the Nigerian charity Baobab Women's Human Rights, as saying:

"It is a very bad situation for those girls. The men went to the school for no other reason than to make them their sex objects. The men will have reduced them to sex slaves, raping them over and over again. And any girl who tries to resist will be shot by them. They have no conscience.

"The conditions will be terrible and it seems like the government has just abandoned them because they are girls and they are poor. If they were the sons of the rich, the government would act. Their abductors are not human beings and if the girls get out they will no longer be normal. They will have to have years of counselling to recover."

International sources have reported that 13-year-old Willow Smith is old enough to make decisions on who she hangs with, even innocently in bed, this according to Willow's parents.

Sources connected to the Smith family tells the media that Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith believe their daughter is "very mature" enough so to make her own decisions, as long as they don't clearly cross the line.

Will and Jada view the now-famous photo of Willow in bed with 20-year-old "Hannah Montana" star Moises Arias as innocent fun and an expression of art.

Reports are that the Smiths have known Moises for years, and he's best friends with 15-year-old Jaden. Bottom line, Will and Jada have NO issue with the picture.

Willow Smith Receives Backlash For Controversial Picture

According to Mavado, in an interview posted on ZIP FM website, any artiste that wants to be in a lyrical confrontation with him, has to be up to his standards.

"I heard a couple of songs but those are not songs. Those are garbage. That's not music. I mean, dem song deh, which part dem a go? Dem not even a go cross the airport, so why should I even listen to them," he said.

Mavado, who is currently signed to DJ Khaled's We The Best label, went on to say that artistes are only using his name to generate a buzz for their career.

"I won't give none of them the time of day. Think about it, I don't have to call anybody name to be on top, I'm always on top. They are the ones that always have to be calling David Brooks name to create a hype and to create a buzz for their career. I don't have time for that."

Gaza Slim releases Gospel Song

Amid the chaos surrounding her current situation, with a pending court case, a confident Vanessa Bling has expressed great optimism for her latest studio effort, which is a gospel track titled 'Mercy on Me'.

The song was voiced by Jermaine Reid and is her first officially released track of the kind since her 2010 musical breakthrough with One Man, which features incarcerated dancehall star Vybz Kartel.

Vanessa Bling, known to most as Gaza Slim, said the track shows her versatility as an artiste and has already been receiving positive feedback on social media.

The song was released earlier this week on her label, VB Music.

"It (Mercy on Me) is showing the other side of me and is expressing myself as a versatile artiste. As what most people believe, I have the vocal ability to do other genres," she said.

The former Oberlin high school student says she is aware that the public may have mixed reactions towards this attempt, given her associations, but she opined that it was something she had always wanted to do.

"People will always judge me because of the group I associate with, but no one is perfect, and people should not just get up and judge. get to know them first," she said.

"However, I always talk about God and I always go to church. Every Sunday, whether or not I go to church, I throw my offering," she added.

Pertaining to the making of the song, Vanessa Bling, real name Vawnessa Sadler, said her initial attempt was to do over a Grace Thriller song, but she was advised by Reid to do an original instead.

She also said that both she and Kartel had recorded a gospel song prior to his arrest in 2011. The song happens to be a cover version of Shirley Ceasar's Can't Even Walk.

Bounty Killer answers Mavado

bounty-killer-photo-4.jpg

After years of avoiding a lyrical brawl with his protégé Mavado, dancehall icon Bounty Killer has finally decided to respond to the Gullyside singjay, who has aimed several subliminal disses at him since they parted ways in 2010. Bounty was unavailable for comment. However, a new song called Death Work surfaced on YouTube.com on April 30, in which Bounty Killer unleashes his fury on Mavado and his Gullyside camp.

Dancehall enthusiasts had long expected a lyrical battle to start between the artistes, especially since Mavado's fellow Gullyside artiste Chase Cross had released a diss song aimed at Bounty Killer in 2011.

Several YouTubers also began to upload songs captioned as Mavado disses towards Bounty. Mavado's singles, Dem A Try Style Man and Pon Di Gully are both labelled as Bounty Killer disses on YouTube.com. Notably in Pon Di Gully, Mavado sings "Inna di dancehall a just me alone, di people nuh wah see nuh next gad".

This is a line which Bounty Killer sees as a subliminal diss and went on to respond to the artiste by deejaying, "A one general inna music bout bex bad, and dem nuh wah see a next gad? Tell madden send him best bag," along with a string of expletives. Bounty Killer also called out Mavado's manager and reminded the singjay not to be ungrateful.

"Sign yu to Khaled, sen yu guh foreign to make a outreach, yu tun rapper groupie, deh dung a South Beach and have the heart fi come a run off yu mouth peace, pass yu place a yu career a gonna out it, everything pon the Gully mi a rub out it. Bwoy tell yu bout yu madda and yu big him up, yow yu been a drop words come act big enough confront the General, hope yu can live it up," Bounty deejays in Death Work.

The Alliance and Gullyside feud is also spreading to the other artistes under each camp. Iyara from the Alliance and 3 Star Wildlife of the Gullyside have already released diss songs targeting each other. Since the start of the feud, Alliance affiliated recording artiste Busy Signal also sent a warning to Mavado in a song called Real Talk in which he deejays, "Singer nuffi a war Bounty real talk, him nuh memba when him bruck and when him hungry? A beg the bills and the 50? Tell him nuh be an ungrateful pickney, Killa a di man wey help people pickney buss di youths outa the slum fi mek it musically. Now yu mek it pon yu own a feed yu family. Rodney Price cudda neva be mi enemy". That song is labelled on YouTube.com as a Mavado dis.

Fans can expect a lyrical onslaught as the artiste switches between his hardcore persona, Assassin and the more refined Agent Sasco with hits such as Late, Same Thing Again, Talk How Me Feel and Girls Gone Wild.

Vegas, is the dancehall gifter with treats galore. Currently blazing a trail across the world, the resilient and charismatic performer will touch hits such as Bruk it Down, Party Tun Up, Sweet Jamaica, I Am Blessed and his most recent party rocker Give It to Her.

Spice will be representing for the women and she too cannot be discounted nor outdone when it comes to performing. Spice, while being shy and soft spoken off-stage is the exact opposite when she gets in front of an audience. The artiste transform into a raunchy, sensual diva as she delivers lyrics to songs such as Twerk, Why You Mad and her recent hit, So Me Like It which was remixed with Hip-Hop star Busta Rhymes.

The exciting, controversial, eccentric rising star Alkaline is also expected to deliver a massive performance in what will be his second appearance on the show. Alkaline has grown vastly since his debut performance last year, his lyrical delivery and fan base has expanded and he continues to express himself in bold ways.

As a singer he is known for hits such as Talk Dirty, Ridin Solo, In My Head and Whatcha Say (#1 single in America upon release).

According to Executive Producer of Summerfest Productions, Johnny Gourzong, following dynamic performances from artistes such as Usher, Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj and Flo Rida, Derulo was a natural choice to be on the festival stage. "We have received overwhelming requests for Jason, so we are pleased to announce his confirmation on our line up. It's going to be another great show this year."

With the release of Derulo's third international album, Tattoos in September 2013 and his third U.S album Talk Dirty in April 2014, Derulo has not only chart toppers to share with his Jamaican fans, but also a slew of new music.

Born to Haitian parents in Florida, do not be surprised if Derulo comes back to his Caribbean roots during his Reggae Sumfest performance, which will mark his first appearance in Jamaica. Known for his energetic style of performing and having professional experience as a dancer and actor, Derulo is a performer at all levels. The artiste is also a fan of Jamaican music which he says he grew up listening to at home.

"People nuh wah hear the good music. When mi duh positive music and put dem pon YouTube dem nah get nuh views in comparison to when I put up the slack songs. A lot of females don't get played in the dancehall and if the song don't slack yu dead fi hungry inna dancehall. Assassin is lyrical and he has the full package but still him not getting the full attention because di people dem want slack music. After yu duh the slack music and yu get the people dem attention, then you can feed them some good music," she said.

The group mesmerized music fans at the 2011 Jamaica Jazz & Blues festival and their upcoming performance at Groovin In The Park will be no different. In 2013, Air Supply was inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame.

beres-hammond-photo-1.jpg
Known to many as the "Otis Redding of Reggae," Beres Hammond has been producing and pouring out his smoky-sweet vocals over every kind of riddim track for almost 40 years. Beres Hammond, who ignited New York City with musical flames when he last appeared on Groovin' In  The Park in 2012, has a track record of hits that is unprecedented in reggae, including "Rockaway," "In Love With You," "What One Dance Can Do," "She Loves Me Now," "Step Aside," "Double Trouble" and "Putting Up Resistance." His latest Grammy-nominated album One Love, One Life (2012, VP Records) peaked at #1 on Billboard's Top 10 Reggae Album chart and was lauded by Rolling Stone as "one of the best albums of a four-decade-long career."

marcia-griffiths-photos-3.jpg

In a recent Billboard interview, Island Records' founder Chris Blackwell said Chronixx's music is "completely fresh, uplifting and very pure." Major Lazer selector Walshy Fire added that "the world will recognize him as one of reggae's greatest artists." He already has an impressive catalogue of smash hits - including "Behind Curtain," "Tell Mi Now," "Here Comes Trouble," "African Heritage" and his patriotic island anthem "Smile Jamaica" that has placed him on reggae's frontline.

Groovin' In The Park 2014 will be a day to remember. Sponsors supporting the celebration this year include Grace Kennedy, TD Bank, SQPA, Nutrament, MoneyGram, The Smoke House, The Door Restaurant, Bullzii and Groovin Radio.

bey-jay-solange-after-party-jmd-050614.jpg

Jay Z was ferociously assaulted by Beyonce's sister Solange who was wildly kicking and swinging at him inside an elevator ... and the attack was captured on surveillance video.

An unidentified woman who claims that a prominent businessman infected her with HIV has taken to popular social application, WhatsApp, to reveal his full name, contact information and warn to other females to stay away from him.

In the warning, the woman gives a lengthy report about how she met the businessman and how she found out that she had the virus.

The woman said that when she met the man he was married, however, he pursued a relationship with her which lasted for several years.

She said that about two years into the relationship, she noticed that he was consistently taking a medication called Atripla, which she later found out was treatment for the virus.

Around the same time when she noticed he was taking the medication under the disguise of multi-vitamins, she said she also found sex tapes with the businessman having unprotected sex.

Some of the sex tapes, she claimed, involved schoolgirls having threesome.

She said that about a year ago, after falling ill, she was diagnosed with pneumonia and later tested positive for HIV.

Three of four men who are accused of raping a teenager whom they met on the social network sight, Facebook, were remanded when they appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

When the case was mentioned, an attorney-at-law made a lengthy bail application on behalf of one of the men. She told the court that the accused is now 18 years old and that his mother had secured the assistance of an elderly relative who will supervise his every movement if granted bail.

Bail was, however, denied by the court after it was revealed that the accused was one of two from the group who were convicted of similar offence in the St Catherine Circuit Court last year and given a probation order.n better,'' The RM said.

The men were then ordered remanded until June 25.

Allegations are that in February this year, the 18-year-old woman was lured to a house in Portmore, St Catherine, where she was forced to perform various sexual acts by the men who took turns assaulting her.

A group of men is alleged to have approached Alkaline trapping him in the middle, then giving him several blows.

During her set at Groovin In The Park, she will perform alongside original I-Threes' member Judy Mowatt, veteran singer John Holt and her long-time singing partner Bob Andy. chronixx-photo-5.jpg
The 21-year-old roots vocalist Chronixx is one of hottest new reggae artists on the circuit. He recently dropped his new project Dread & Terrible, which was written entirely by himself. The conscious singer-songwriter has been building a name for himself with energetic live performances and raves reviews from media and industry alike. bey-jay-solange-after-party-jmd-050614.jpg

Jay Z was ferociously assaulted by Beyonce's sister Solange who was wildly kicking and swinging at him inside an elevator ... and the attack was captured on surveillance video.

An unidentified woman who claims that a prominent businessman infected her with HIV has taken to popular social application, WhatsApp, to reveal his full name, contact information and warn to other females to stay away from him.
