The management teams of young dancehall artistes Kalado and Alkaline are predicting that the deejays will be the popular faces of 2014.

alkaline-photo-1.jpg

According to Alkaline's manager Dwayne Morris, by the end of 2014, the 123 deejay will be in high demand.

"By the end of the year he will be in demand and he will be on the charts. They will also see him outside of just being a recording artiste, but as a performer, which is why we are hosting Alkaline in Concert at Constant Spring. It is a live show with him and Ruff Kutt band. We have some guests, but he is the headliner. I am a bit shocked that he has picked up so fast among the youth, they catch on real fast. The music industry, however, took a longer time to accept him as an artiste and not just the youth with the tattoo eyes. He is a lyricist and we as a team sit down and plan out everything we do with Alkaline's career. As an artiste, from you have the people, you are good," Morris said.

Kalado on the other hand, has been out at least a year longer than Alkaline. However, his popularity soared in 2013 starting with his first chart topper, Make Me Feel produced by Dre Day. According to Anthony 'Akeem' Grace, Kalado's publicist, the Alliance deejay brings a new sound to the music industry.

"Kalado is most definitely the artiste to look out for in 2014. He has something new and Jamaicans love new elements of entertainment, hence the fans are loving it. We are in the studio 24/7 and we know what the fans want. Fans want an image as well because he has the raw talent. So we are putting together the right component to make the artiste a complete star," Grace said.

All Set For Jamaica Jazz

The Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival is all set for another incredible staging come Thursday January 30 - February 1. The Trelawny Multipurpose Stadium has been transformed into a musical haven with world class stage production and equipment. Patrons will be enticed by the festival atmosphere when they enter the venue with several attractions on offer outside the main stage and performances.

The Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival remains bent on delivering quality acts to patrons and the 2014 staging of the festival will be no different despite the ever deteriorating economic conditions. The Festival has managed to develop a mechanism which has led to its sustainability regardless of the increasing costs to plan and execute the event.

"This year we are 15% over the budget which we used to stage last year's festival" states Junior Taylor, Associate Producer for the Festival. Who went on to exclaim the rising fees of the artistes annually.

Withstanding the economic climate, the organizers have remarkably left ticket prices unchanged from the 2013 staging and will still be presenting an astounding line-up on each night of the three day Festival. Patrons can rest, assured in the quality of the performances with the likes of Chaka Khan, Toni Braxton, Crystal Gayle, Beres Hammond, Chris Martin, Protoje, Aaron Neville and the Queen of Reggae Marcia Griffiths all set to dazzle on the main stage.

Patrons are also in for a treat with other entertaining activities set to take place inside the venue. The scrumptious offerings of the infamous food court will be amongst the favourites and the sponsors' village, complete with fun interactive activities, will provide the perfect complement for the Jazz and Blues talent stage. The talent stage has become a treat over the years for patrons as it often commands great respect and applause from those who venture to that area of the ground.

"The talent that will be on show will simply be amazing. Over the years patrons have really gotten treated to quality performances as the talent stage performers are usually very close and at times, arguably equal in quality to the main stage performers," stated Ewan Simpson, Talent Stage Manager for the Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival. Without giving too much away Simpson expressed delight at two of the instrumentalists in Verlando Small and Lightening Drummers, who will both feature on this year's Talent Stage.

Western Jamaica is already buzzing from the excitement as the influx of visitors has already begun. Accommodation at this point will prove challenging with several hotels already reporting that they are fully booked for the period. Knutsford Express, the Festival's official transport partners is all set to provide hassle free, comfortable shuttle service to and from the Festival for patrons who are unable to find accommodations and will commute to the Festival.

The Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival has set the Entertainment calendar alight for almost two decades, and is again set to enjoy another successful staging. Patrons are reminded that tickets are still available at select locations islandwide. The Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival is set for January 30 - February 1 at the Trelawny Multipurpose Stadium.

TORONTO, Jan. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Royal Bank of Canada (RY on TSX and NYSE) today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to sell RBC Royal Bank (Jamaica) Limited and RBTT Securities Jamaica Limited (collectively "RBC Jamaica") to Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals and is expected to be finalized in the coming months.

"Consistent with our strategy of being a competitive leader in the markets where we operate, we determined after a careful and thorough review that the best decision for the long-term future success of RBC Jamaica was to sell it to Sagicor," said Suresh Sookoo, CEO of RBC Caribbean. "Sagicor is a well established financial franchise in Jamaica with the size, scale and complementary capabilities that RBC Jamaica does not currently possess."

"RBC has operated in the Caribbean for over 100 years and remains committed to this region. This transaction will allow us to successfully reposition our Caribbean business for the future and focus on regions where we have significant market share," said Dave McKay, group head, Personal & Commercial Banking, RBC. "We are focused on strengthening our business performance, service and competitiveness in markets where we can be a leading competitor over the long term."

While financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, the purchase price approximately reflects the book value of RBC Jamaica. RBC expects the transaction to result in an estimated loss of C$60 million (before and after-tax) as a result of International Financial Reporting Standards, largely related to an estimated writedown for the proportionate share of RBC Jamaica goodwill and other intangibles acquired by RBC in connection with its acquisition of RBTT Financial Group in 2008. The transaction is not expected to have a material impact on RBC's Basel III Common Equity Tier 1 ratio.

The loss is based on current estimates and is subject to change and will be reflected in the results of the first quarter ending January 31, 2014. RBC will release its first quarter 2014 results and host an earnings conference call on February 26, 2014.

Tiana Defends Freaky sex and J Amsterdam

I response to the bashing the freaky deejay has been receiving for his song Gyal Come Wine Inna Mi Face Tiana said.

"I don't feel they should bash him because if one of the big artistes should come out and admit that he is freaky, you would find that a lot of other established male artistes would start admitting that they are freaky as well. This society is biased. If you are going to bash women for wanting oral sex returned, then you should bash the males, too. Artistes like Vybz Kartel, Konshens, Demarco, and Alkaline have all stated that they want women to perform oral sex on them. So why can't women receive it too?," she asked.

"It's his views and there should be freedom of speech. The song itself could have been better, but I am cheering for him because he has come out of the dark, and there are many more Jamaican men who like oral sex," she said.

Tiana believes some Jamaican men will indulge in oral sex, however, they will pretend in the public space that they are against the practice. The deejay says some Jamaican men did not want to publicly comment on her song Freaky Man (Freaky Gyal Pt 3) on YouTube, but they sent private messages to her cell phone saying that they loved the concept. She sees that as an indication that there exists a strong level of hypocrisy on the part of Jamaican men as it relates to their views on performing oral sex.

Defence in the Vybz Kartel murder trial flipped the script on key witness Detective Patrick Linton Tuesday morning putting him under pressure for alleged "very nasty things" posted on his Facebook page.

The statement came after defence attorney Tom Tavares-Finson in the Home Circuit court asked the cop a number of questions, almost lauding him for his professionalism.

Tavares-Finson then told Kartel to stand up and asked Linton: Do you have anything against this man?

Linton responded: No, and added that all he did was to be professional in his interpretation of data, and that he had no ill will against any of the accused.

Tavares Finson then asked Linton to explain what is social media for the benefit of the jurors.

He also asked Linton to explain what is Facebook. Linton complied.

The defence attorney then asked Linton to open his Facebook page for the court, but Linton replied that his page was private.

"Let me get to the point," said Tavares Finson. "You have been putting some very nasty things on Facebook". Linton remained quiet.

Tavares-Finson requested that the court demand the opening of the Facebook page.  But Linton responded that the page was deactivated. "That must have been done this morning," Tavares Finson responded, "because I have videos of the page."

Tavares Finson again asked Linton to open his Facebook page. "These things can be easily hacked," Linton responded. The court then took a break.

The 12-member jury at the Vybz Kartel murder trial was this afternoon showed Blackberry messages allegedly telling of how Clive 'Lizard' Williams was chopped up.

A message allegedly sent from a Blackberry cell phone attributed to Kartel stated that Lizard was chopped up fine like mince meat and thrown away.

Another message read that "as long as you live Lizard will never be found".

The jury heard another message which stated that he was the "WorlBoss" and that he would become a person of interest.

The message went further to state that only a man identified as "Wee" and another identified as "Shawn" would sink him and so it was important to be on the lookout if the police went for the men.

The jury was shown messages from the cellphone attributed to Kartel stating that he wanted to leave Jamaica.

Earlier, a video allegedly taken from the same Blackberry cellphone showing several men were shown to the jury.

One of the men had a pick-axe and another man had tattoos on both forearms.

Voices in the video were heard giving instructions for a man to be held down and for his throat to be cut.

Kartel whose real name is Adidja Palmer is charged jointly with fellow entertainer Shawn Campbell also called 'Shawn Storm', Kahira Jones, Shane Williams and Andre St John for Williams' alleged murder.

The prosecution is alleging that Williams was killed over two missing guns.

Demarco's video alongside two females who appear to be performing oral sex and other sexual acts on each other, has been described as pornography, distasteful and tacky. Still, others have hailed him as being groundbreaking and different.

Demarco says those opposing his video are hypocrites.

"The hypocrisy of our society is so paradoxical; accusing me of lechery, yet here's the real truth - only weeks earlier I was the good Samaritan saving a woman's from the clutches of death after she cracked her skull in a severe car accident outside my studio compound. myself and my team rushed her to hospital.Aside from a selected few, no one saw the need to highlight this. I also donated a sizeable contribution in back-to-school supplies to various inner-city children in Kenya and Jamaica, another deed treated with utmost inattention. The focus that is being thrust upon this video should be given to matters such as the disenfranchised youths of this country, the rising rate of unemployment, lack of proper infrastructure for our children to learn, squatting, the crime epidemic, among other social issues." C-Strokes - It's All About You

As previously announced and introduced to the world, Port Harcourt, Nigeria's Mayor Chimbiko Iche Akarolo, adopted the musical moniker of C-Strokes after losing his devout wife during childbirth, due to a poor health system. It was by a chance meeting with Mojo Morgan of Reggae's royalty Morgan Heritage, that an association with Heritage Grown Productions who shares in the vision to support childcare with emphasis on malaria was formed. Mojo is featured on the remix of the lead single "It's All About You" from the upcoming album "Reality (Love & Life)".

All Proceeds from the single will go to the CAF Foundation. The single is now available for purchase worldwide at www.smarturl.it/ItsAllAboutYou

Caroline Akarolo Foundation began as an
anniversary memorial in honour of the
Mayor of Port Harcourt's late wife,
Caroline Akarolo, who passed on on
August 28, 2011, about 24 hours after
childbirth.

At the commemorative "Caroline Akarolo Day for Safe Motherhood and Childcare" event of August 28, 2012, attended by the wife of the Governor of Rivers State, Judith Amaechi, the CEO of O. B. Lulu-Briggs Foundation, Siene Lulu-Briggs, the Chairman of the Rivers State Chapter of Nigerian Medical Association, Dr Ibitoroko Korubo and many other actors in Safe Motherhood and Childcare, everyone who spoke urged the event organizers to move the initiative from being just a special day for Safe Motherhood and Childcare to becoming a full-blown foundation.

Today, Caroline Akarolo Foundation focuses on coordinating for building and maintaining platforms, networks and systems towards supporting the availability and delivery of timely professional medical services to mothers having babies and infants needing care. The foundation will do this through her planned periodic Safe Motherhood Roundtables for public, private and civil-society sector actors, her annual August 28th Caroline Akarolo Day for Safe Motherhood and Childcare, her soon-to-be purchased fully-kitted Caroline Akarolo Maternal Emergency Mobile Hospital and her other planned programmes.

The popular stripper who calls herself New York is venting over the loss of her boyfriend Geezy who died violently over the weekend. Geezy was a promoter who hosted several events in New York.

According a seeming sad New York on one of her controversial Instagram posts, she is wondering if she could have his sperms to fertilize her egg even though he was already dead. One of her Instagram friends responded to her post stating that the procedure could be done, hastily, however she would have needed consent from the parents of the deceased since he was not married to her.

New York was recently in Jamaica on vacation and also made an appearance at Taboo night club during Konshens recent birthday celebration.

The stripper sisters recently released a debut dancehall single called Reckless, produced by UIM records.

WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama believes smoking marijuana is a "bad habit" but thinks legal penalties now fall disproportionately on minorities and that states legalizing pot should go ahead with their plans, he said in a profile released on Sunday.

"As has been well documented, I smoked pot as a kid, and I view it as a bad habit and a vice, not very different from the cigarettes that I smoked as a young person up through a big chunk of my adult life," he is quoted as saying in a New Yorker magazine article. "I don't think it is more dangerous than alcohol."

The president said he has told his daughters smoking marijuana is "a bad idea, a waste of time, not very healthy."

However, he said he is concerned that marijuana-related arrests fall far more heavily on minorities than on others. Legalization of pot should go forward in the states of Colorado and Washington because "it's important for society not to have a situation in which a large portion of people have at one time or another broken the law and only a select few get punished," he said.

Marijuana remains illegal in the United States under federal law, but 21 U.S. states allow or are about to allow medical marijuana use, and Colorado and Washington have decriminalized use of pot entirely. Alaska and the District of Columbia are considering following suit.

The Obama administration said last year that federal law enforcement will not target users in Colorado and Washington, as long as they comply with their respective states' laws.

The Department of Justice says it will not interfere with states' efforts to regulate and tax marijuana provided they are able to meet a set of requirements, including keeping it from children and restricting its flow into other states.

The president also said he believes that those who argue that legalizing marijuana will solve a number of social problems "are probably overstating the case." Legalization in Colorado and Washington will likely be a challenge, he said.

In the lengthy profile, the president muses over race, the Middle East, and criticism of his efforts to woo Congress, among other topics. Discussing race, he said that he believes some people will never accept having a black president.

The president said that the three sets of negotiations involving Iran, Israel and the Palestinians, and Syria each have less than a 50-50 chance of succeeding, but are necessary steps toward achieving stability in a volatile region.

If we were able to get Iran to operate in a responsible fashion ... you could see an equilibrium developing between Sunni, or predominantly Sunni, Gulf states and Iran in which there's competition, perhaps suspicion, but not an active or proxy warfare," he said.

On the question of whether Obama will write a memoir, former adviser David Axelrod called it a "slam dunk" that the president will. A literary agent estimated publishers will pay between $17 million and $20 million for one.

Obama said narrowing the gap between rich and poor would be a key part of his legacy.

"I will measure myself at the end of my presidency in large part by whether I began the process of rebuilding the middle class and the ladders into the middle class and reversing the trend toward economic bifurcation in this society," he said.

Alkaline says he messed with his eyes for Attention

According to the artiste in an interview, he wanted people to notice him.

"You have like 10 million artistes in Jamaica, everybody claim that they are the baddest, so I think to distinguish myself from every other entertainers, why not just tat my eyes ... everybody has their own stepping stone to success and I guess this happens to be mine. This is just something to captivate the interest of people and I think I have achieved that. Some are freaked out, but they don't need to be freaked out because I am a shock-value artiste and I bring theatrics and provocativeness to dancehall," Alkaline said to The Media.

In the mean time another aspiring dancehall artiste Mace, has pulled a similar stunt, using a Shock Value approach to get attention, like we are giving him now.

For all who dont know what shock value is please read: Shock value is the potential of an action (as a public execution), image, text, or other form of communication to provoke a reaction of sharp disgust, shock, anger, fear, or similar negative emotions.

Artistes who have used shock value are 50 Cent, Tommy Lee Sparta, Danielle D.I, Raine Seville, Destiny Sparta, Vybz Kartel, Miley Cyrus among others.

danielle-d-i.jpg

Persons are now seriously questioning if Alkaline and Mace actually tatted their eyes, since this Youtube video surfaced with a woman showing how to insert black contact lens, that can easily be mistaken for eye tattoos.

Marcia Griffiths, Chronixx, Chalice and Moses Davis, who performs under the stage name Beenie Man, will add a tasty mix of sweet reggae to this year's staging of the Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival.

The event, scheduled for January 30 to February 1 at the Trelawny Multi-Purpose Stadium on Jamaica's north coast, has already signed big-name Jamaican act Beres Hammond, as well as major American singers Chaka Khan, Toni Braxton, Aaron Neville, Crystal Gayle, Chrisette Michele and Joe.

Griffiths, regarded by many as the queen of reggae, will celebrate her 50th anniversary in the music industry.

Griffiths has established herself as a formidable solo act, but was, for many years, a member of the famous all female trio the I Three, singing back-up for Bob Marley & the Wailers.

Reggae revival advocate Chronixx has brought a freshness to the music in recent times with a string of hits, among them Smile Jamaica, Behind Curtain, Odd Ras and They Don't Know Chronixx.

He has steadily improved his craft and his latest hits include Here Comes Trouble and Me Alright with Kabaka Pyramid.

Beenie Man, easily one of Jamaica's finest dancehall performers, will take the festival stage through an entirely different lens, as the Grammy-Award winning deejay will be performing under the theme 'The Other Side of Moses Davis'.

Chris Martin and worldwide reggae sensation Protoje will also appear on the festival. JAMAICA Jazz and Blues Festival is sponsored by the Jamaica Tourist Board, Flow, Consumer Brands Ltd, Courts, Seaboard Marine, Knutsford Express, Intelligent Multimedia, Captains Aviation Services, KIA Motors, Red Stripe, Fire Blade Energy Drink, Cafe Blue, Half Moon, RIU, Hilton Rose Hall, Holiday Inn, Jamaica Pegasus, Round Hill, El Greco, Toby Resort, the Jamaica Observer, Television Jamaica, Fame FM, Mello FM, KOOL FM, Power 106 & Music 99, Hitz 95, FYAH 105, Radio 94, Nationwide, MegaJamz, Irie FM and Onstage TV.

Port Harcourt, Nigeria - Through their travels musicians are often privileged to meet persons from all walks of life, hardcore fans, music lovers, politicians and even the occasional royalty. Such an honor recently was bestowed on Morgan Heritage's youngest band member Mojo Morgan while journeying in Nigeria he became acquainted with Port Harcourt Mayor Chimbiko Iche Akarolo.

Bonding through music, Mojo heard a tale unlike any other, and combining his love of Music and Philanthropy decided to lend his voice, talent, compassion and heart to a worthy project. This is the story of the Mayor who became musician...

Music is the universal language. So as a means to raise funds for the charity, Chimbiko resorted to music as a tool for promoting the ideals of the foundation through the name C-Strokes. Although it is quite unorthodox for his position as a Mayor, his position in the city of Port Harcourt, Nigeria has enabled him to collaborate with medical associations and musical artists both locally and now internationally with Heritage Grown Productions. Mojo Morgan of Reggae super group Morgan Heritage, heads Heritage Grown Productions and he also shares in the vision to support childcare with emphasis on malaria. Mojo is featured on the remix of the lead single "It's All About You" from the upcoming album "Reality (Love & Life)".

C-Strokes' music touches emotionally where words alone can't express. All proceeds arising from his career as C-Strokes is donated to his CAF charity. With the help and new collaboration with Heritage Grown Productions, sub Saharan Africa will witness great support for motherhood and childcare in 2014 and beyond.

College student Acids girl because of bad mind!

acid-girl.jpg

A student who allegedly threw acid in her friend's face said she wanted to have her raped, a court was told yesterday.

Mary Konye, 21, is also said to have asked Muslim students about where to buy a niqab, or Islamic veil, telling them she had to go to a Muslim relative's funeral.

The court heard that Konye told a friend she planned to disfigure Naomi Oni, saying: 'I'm going to mess up the one thing that girl has - her looks.'

Omolola Vincent, 20, told Snaresbrook Crown Court in North-East London: 'She said she was going to throw acid on her. She told me she had acid. She bought it online.'

Miss Oni, 21, of Dagenham, East London, was attacked on December 30 on her way home from work. The Victoria's Secret shop assistant suffered permanent scarring all over her body and her face.

She also nearly lost the sight in both eyes.

Konye is accused of following her home dressed in a niqab and throwing acid in her face as she got off at her bus stop.

Konye's college friend Miss Vincent also said that Konye posted a picture of Freddy Krueger, the disfigured character from the Nightmare on Elm Street horror film, online.

She then changed her written status to: 'That's what you're going to look like when I'm finished with you.'

Miss Vincent, a student, added: 'As soon as I saw it I messaged her and I said "Oh my gosh, did you actually do it?"

'She replied that even if she did do it she wouldn't tell anybody.'

vybz-kartel-outside-court.jpg

The Presiding Judge in the Vybz Kartel murder trial has ruled that all evidence prepared by Digicel is to be submitted into evidence in the case.

This means that all information such as call records, text messages, BlackBerry messages, voice notes, video evidence retrieved from the entertainer's phone and other electronic device will be brought into open court. This ruling means that the electronic evidence has linked all the co-accused except one, Shawn Williams.

The judge ruled that the evidence collected from Mr. Williams' phone was irrelevant and inadmissible, thereby clearing the way for his attorneys to file a 'no case' submission on behalf of his client. This ruling was handed down despite strong opposition from the defence lawyers of the entertainer Vybz Kartel and his four co-accused who have indicated that they will be submitting appeal to block this decision. The ruling clears the way for the continuation of testimonies and the return of the jurors.

Johnny Says Trinidad is targeting Jamaicans

actor-boy-awards-2010-03-30.jpg
"My fellow Jamaicans, please have all your ducks in a row and your T's crossed if you need to travel to Trinidad and Tobago because we are being targeted, no doubt. They had no good reason to treat my wife and I the way they did, so I can only assume it's our nationality that was the issue. It's as if the Immigration and Customs personnel have replaced the word Jamaican with criminal, so, please be careful. A. J. Nicholson ... there is much work to be done. We were suspects, the minute we walked up to immigration. Without scanning our passports, the Indian looking officer took up a phone and called someone to indicate that she felt suspicious ...This has never happened before in all my years of travelling. Even to the great United States, a country that is constantly having to protect its borders from terrorists. It was humiliating ... there was no respect shown to me and my wife ...Without hesitation, on reaching the customs officer, he called over the woman in bright orange that was the leader of the Enforcement Team. She showed her name tag before she started her interrogation of the suspects (that's how I felt). She asked about the contents of our luggage ...While searching our luggage, I was asked to break open one of the patties we took for our hosts, she then broke several pieces of the ginger we were asked to take, and squeezed the hard-dough bread so hard that it lost its shape. Having not found anything beyond what was reflected she moved on to the next bags ... "She asked if I was wearing two trousers ... asked if my wife was from Barbados (even though they had her Jamaican passport)... they asked if we had a criminal record... our answers did not satisfy her and she sent me in a room with two gentlemen ... I was not prepared to take off my clothes ..."

Our news team understands that the lengthy ordeal threatened the couple's ability to catch a connecting flight, which they did, however, not without their luggage being left behind, and a little 'attitude' from the Caribbean Airline staff on the ground for being late for boarding.

A probe has been launched, following an incident yesterday in which a mentally ill patient jumped from the third floor of the Kingston Public Hospital, KPH. The incident occurred about 4:30 in the afternoon.

The 29 year old woman, who sustained a broken hip, was a patient on the medical ward. Up to late Monday night, she was under observation to determine if she had sustained other injuries.

Staff members said despite efforts to restrain the patient to a bed she managed to free herself.

It has been reported that this is not the first time that persons have jumped from the third floor of the KPH and that at least two other incidents proved fatal.

The employees say it's time for the authorities to discontinue housing mentally ill patients on upper floors at the hospital. They are worried that if the matter is not addressed soon there could be a recurrence.

vybz-kartel-photo-11-full.jpg

Justice Lennox Campbell has ruled that the Vybz Kartel murder trial will continue following an inquiry into an interaction between a juror and a member of the defence team.

The juror turned up at the office of the attorney over the Christmas break.

However, Justice Campbell said after hearing from the attorney and the juror this morning, he was firmly of the view that it would not affect the case.

Reports are that while the murder case was on break over the Christmas period, the purported juror attended the lawyer's office and declared identity.

However, it is reported that the lawyer declined to have any discussion with the person.

Veteran defence attorney, Bert Samuels, has said if the reports are true, the trial could be derailed.

However, he said given how advanced the trial is he is hoping it will be found to have been an innocent encounter and the jury will not be dismissed.

Kartel who is celebrating a birthday today, is jointly charged with fellow entertainer Shawn Campbell also known as Shawn Storm, Kahira Jones, Shane Williams and Andre St John for the 2011 murder of Clive 'Lizard' Williams.

Two witnesses, Joseph Simmonds, an official from Digicel and Detective Heather Forrest were bound over until Thursday when the matter is scheduled to resume before the jury.

Busy Signal pulls thousands in Uganda

busy-signal-photo-8.jpg

Platinum selling reggae-dancehall artiste Busy Signal was recently welcomed to Uganda in fine style as show promoters and the Ugandan government arranged a welcoming parade for the Bumaye singer.

"It was a lot of people males, females, government officials and children. Persons where riding bikes and others where in vehicles and I just got a chance to say high to the people and kept it lively. The motorcade was arranged by the government in collaboration with the promoters and people just joined along it was my fifth time going to Africa and my first time going to that area and it was overwhelming to see the love that I received, I can't explain. I performed for three hours, during which I even changed my clothes and returned... big people type of vibe. The stadium is made to carry 42,000 persons and they managed to squeeze in 50,000 and I did two shows and they were sold out," Busy Signal said.

busy-signal-photo-9.jpg

"The reception for dancehall is good, but for reggae music its bigger... songs like Reggae Music again and my rendition of The Gambler reggae style are very big songs in Uganda. The world is a very big place and reggae music gave birth to dancehall, hip hop, reggaeton and such. But outside of Jamaica reggae music is the biggest thing, no disrespect to dancehall. But we were always told this by the elders and based on what I have seen from being all over the world, reggae music is known worldwide. I am just thanking the people who believe in me, my versatility, my lyrics and melodies. You are never going to have Busy Signal just doing one kind of music," he said.

The heavily booked artiste also advises local artistes to desist from making music that are easily disposable. According to Busy Signal both dancehall and reggae artistes should work on their material if they want to have long lasting careers on the world stage.

"The world does not look on what is running Half Way Tree or Portmore or the little corners. When you spin the globe you can't see Jamaica because it's a little dot, yet we put out so much greatness. We just have to focus on creativity and study the music. Know people like Nardo Ranks, Papa Levi, U-Roy, King Stitt and nuff more. It's not about singling bout flossing, who rich and who bruck. It's about music and quality," Busy Signal said.

A local model recently found herself at the center of controversy after wearing an outfit which exposed too much of her body to the audience at the fashion show.

The clothing was intended to be a two piece bikini, however critics are saying the garment does not count as  a two piece bikini, because the bottom half of the clothing is incomplete.

It reveals half of the model's vagina and leaves little to the imagination, several persons have shared the photo of the model on facebook, each voicing their own opinion on the piece that many regard as being as disgusting as D Angel's performance at Sting.

"As a grown woman and an artiste, I am entitled to entertain and perform. I have been watching Sting from I was a child and there is nothing that I did on stage at Sting that was far-fetched from all the things that have happened on that stage over the years. I haven't done anything different from what has always been done at Sting. I have never seen it become a problem before, so why is it now that they are making a big mountain out of it? I went on stage with 'The King of the Dancehall' Beenie Man and the fans loved it, I went on stage with 'The King of Sting' Ninja Man and the crowd loved it. The opportunity presented itself to perform for my fans and I did that and they all loved it. I stayed true to the culture of Sting, which is energy-packed entertainment. I think outside the box. I was just having fun. It was just solid and mature entertainment. The patrons enjoyed it and the fans were happy. I represented dancehall on a wider scale. My music and career is not based on one night, my career goes on after this," D'Angel continued.

"I am looking forward to a positive 2014, touring the world, and fans can look forward to a new, fierce and sexier D'Angel. For bookings, persons can contact angelsproduction@gmail.com or call 1876-484-6463," she said.

Supreme Promotions head, Isaiah Laing, says dancehall entertainers D'Angel and Sizzla Kalonji have been banned from Sting.

According to Laing, Sizzla has been banned because he was repeatedly warned not to go on stage during the Boxing Day event and promote hate music.

D'Angel was banned because of her raunchy behavior on stage during Ninja Man's set.

"We repeatedly told Sizzla not to do any hate music and he went up there and did it. D'Angel is banned for at least 5 years as a patron. We don't need your money D'Angel. Stay home. Watch the event on pay-per-view next year."

In a release to the media, the promoters of Sting - Supreme Promotions and Downsound Records - stated that that they have taken steps to force "corrective actions" from some artistes.

"We remain committed to advancing Reggae/dancehall music and the industry. We will continue to strive to improve our product and are confident that with your support we will achieve our aim," the release said.

RBC to sell its Jamaican banking operations

This tragedy translated into music which in turn gave birth to CAF, a foundation created in honor of his late wife to support pregnant women and childcare.

The focus that is being thrust upon this video should be given to matters such as the disenfranchised youths of this country, the rising rate of unemployment, lack of proper infrastructure for our children to learn, squatting, the crime epidemic, among other social issues." Caroline Akarolo Foundation began as an
anniversary memorial in honour of the
Mayor of Port Harcourt's late wife,
Caroline Akarolo, who passed on on
August 28, 2011, about 24 hours after

One of her Instagram friends responded to her post stating that the procedure could be done, hastily, however she would have needed consent from the parents of the deceased since he was not married to her.

New York was recently in Jamaica on vacation and also made an appearance at Taboo night club during Konshens recent birthday celebration.

president-barack-obama.jpg
