The University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona, is ready to host its 2013 celebrity football match, which will feature several of Jamaica's top entertainers. According to Culture, Arts and Entertainment Chairperson (CAEC), Miguel Reid, this is the second staging of the now annual competition, and anticipation is high.

The match is to be staged today at the UWI Mona Bowl, starting at 5 p.m. It will see local entertainers, media personalities and public figures going up against members of the student body for bragging rights. The entertainers will want to avenge last year's loss to the student team.

The match is an appetiser for the annual Sagicor Champion's League, a football competition featuring the top blocks at UWI. Defending champions Attica Fraternity have won the competition for the past two years. Attica is already through to this year's finals where they will battle another Taylor Hall block, Roosters (Block C).

Reid says sports and music make a good entertainment package.

"My intention is to provide diverse entertainment, and starting this competition is one such move. Sports is very dear to the hearts of Jamaicans, and football is one of the most loved sports, so what better way to entertain and add to the development of sports?" he said.

"Last year, we did it and it was a success. We got a good turnout. It was clean fun and persons have been asking for more, so here it is. This is one of the many climaxes for the school semester and we are looking for a strong showing from both patrons and participants on the day," Reid said.

The competition is sponsored by Sagicor. Celebrities expected to showcase their football talent at UWI Bowl today are Damion Crawford, Chino, Laden, Garrizon, Sizzla Kalonji, Demarco, Kalado, Black Ryno, Tanto Blacks, Creep and Nico from Chromatic, and the Twin of Twins, among others.

"Mi ready fi it this year. Last year wi deal wid it a way and this year wi a go harder," Patrick Gaynor of the Twin of Twins duo said. Captain for the celebrity football team will be Big Ship recording artiste Laden.

Music will be provided by Hypnosis, with DJ Jinx and DJ Moonshine.

The main witness for the prosecution testified yesterday at the murder trial of entertainer Vybz Kartel and his four co-accused that on August 16, 2011, he saw Clive 'Lizard' Williams lying motionless on the living room floor at Kartel's house in Havendale, St Andrew.

He said he and Williams were taken in a taxi to the house, where Kartel questioned them about two missing guns, and Williams said they planned to buy back the guns.

shawn-storm-photo-1.jpg
The Crown is alleging at the trial in the Home Circuit Court that Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer; entertainer Shawn Campbell, popularly known as Shawn Storm; André St John; Shane Williams; and Kahira Jones, murdered Williams on August 16, 2011.

The witness said on the afternoon of August 16, 2011, he was called to Campbell's home in Waterford, St Catherine. When he went there, he saw Williams at Campbell's gate. He said Campbell told Williams that Kartel wanted to see him because since the guns went missing, he had not seen them.

He said he left for his home and some time later that evening, he saw Williams and Campbell arrived at his gate in a taxi. He went with them in the taxi and they all went to a house in Havendale.

When they arrived at the gate, the accused St John was at the premises and he opened the gate and they went inside. The taxi driver did not go inside with them. He said Kartel invited them inside the house.

Questioned by prosecutor Jeremy Taylor as to what happened inside the house, he said Kartel asked what happened.

He said he told Kartel that he was at work, and it was Brown and Lizard who went for the guns, and Lizard said he had given Brown the guns to put back. Kartel then asked what they planned to do, and Lizard told him that they planned to buy back the guns.

The witness said Jones held Lizard backwards and he (witness) ran to a back room because he feared that something was going to happen to him, too.

He said Kartel and Shawn Storm brought him back to the living room, where he saw Williams lying motionless on the floor and St John holding a building block in his hand, while Jones was bending over Lizard. He said he felt he was going to be next, so he ran from the house, jumped the gate, and went on to the road. He said he saw Kartel following him.

Kartel said it was a man called 'Brown' and 'Lizard' who had stolen the guns. Kartel, who was limping, said a dog bit him and he wanted to go to the hospital. The witness said he stopped a taxi and went with Kartel to the hospital.

After they left the hospital, he went to Waterford that night where he saw Campbell, who told him not to tell anyone that 'Lizard' went in the taxi with them earlier that evening. He said he did not hide the information.

A spliff tail has landed entertainer Laden in hot water with the United States.

Laden was deported back to Jamaica recently after a spliff tail was discovered in his pants pocket by immigration officials while he was being processed in the LAX in Los Angeles, California.

Laden who refused  to be recorded, tells Music News that it was an honest mistake and he's upset with himself.

Laden is not the first entertainer to be caught with marijuana in an airport. Last year, Tommy Lee was busted at Grenada's international airport by police. Stupid and careless but we hope they give him a chance.

ASAP Ferg teams up with Busta Rhymes, Migos, and dancehall super star Shabba Ranks for a remix to the Trap Lord standout "Shabba".

busta-rhymes.jpg

Joining the track that bares his name, Ranks and his rapid-fire patois help infuse the whole affair with an air of abandonment.

From there, Fergenstein tosses in a new verse, matching oddball wordplay ("Two bad chicks in my vehicle/Yellow hood rats like Pikachu") with an extra manic delivery. While Ferg remains firmly in the spotlight, the random rhymes and guttural noises from Migos and Busta's triple-speed flow further flesh out this totally bizarre but utterly infectious slice of dancehall-meets-trap-music.

"I held Michael's Penis Every Night," Says Dr. Conrad Murray!

In a weird, rambling interview with The Daily Mail, Dr. Conrad Murray (Michael Jackson's doctor) said:

"You want to know how close we were? I held his penis every night to fit a catheter because he was incontinent at night... He wore dark trousers all the time because after he went to the toilet he would drip for hours...Michael didn't know how to put a condom on, so I had to do it for him."

Murray also talks about how he believes Michael killed himself. He says after he walked out of Michael's bedroom,

"I believe he woke up, got hold of his own stash of Propofol and injected himself. He did it too quickly and went into cardiac arrest."

Murray suggests that Michael's children have three different fathers. He says because

"Michael told me he never slept with Debbie Rowe."

Murray explains that MJ told him that he had been sexually assaulted by one of his doctors when he was sedated. Also, Murray says that MJ predicted that he would die on his [Murray's] watch ("You know, for the rest of your life and my life our names will become inseparable... [MJ smiles] "I am clairvoyant.")

Dancehall artistes Khago and Laden are now involved in a heated war of words, following Laden's release of a dis song called Google Bad Mind featuring Benji, which is said to be aimed at Khago.

Khago's name was not mentioned in the song, however the artiste swiftly released a counteraction called Missa Nyam Fuck, in which he fires several lyrical shots in the direction of Laden.

"Mi google house and fi him and a Stephen dog house come up, ambition and a cruff come up. "Wi google badmind a di cap fit him all him madda wey birth him is not with him. Him a train fi badmind him practicing, anytime Sizzla hold him every locks missing. According to Laden, Google Badmind did not mention Khago's name, but member's of his team  took offence and released a counteraction.

"The song was done to take over the streets, so me a tek it to the streets. Who the cap fit mek dem wear it and they love to wear cap so mek dem gwaan wear it," Laden said.

Laden also disclosed that he and Khago were never friends and says a music video will be released for Google Badmind in coming weeks.

"Me no have no micro chip in no man mind. Him claim say a eight years now him have things fi say and him just feel fi talk back now and him deh round Big Ship from when a voice. Why a now him a choose fi say things?," Khago stated.

Khago believes Laden's grouse against him came in wake of his growing popularity in St. Elizabeth, which is Laden's home parish.

IN a direct breach of the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas, and a snub of a recent ruling by the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ), Trinidadian immigration officers denied 13 Jamaicans entry into that country on Tuesday night, detained them and sent them back home on the first flight yesterday morning.

The Jamaicans were angry when the media spoke to them immediately after they were processed by immigration officials at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston yesterday afternoon.

They said that their passports were confiscated by the Trinidadians and they were ordered to sit on a wooden bench throughout the night before they were rudely bundled on a Caribbean Airlines flight on which the majority of the Reggae Boyz football team were being flown home after their friendly match at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.

Among those turned away from her fellow Caribbean Community (Caricom) state was Anne Gordon, who was given the task of chaperoning an 11-year-old girl to see her father who resides in that country with his Trinidadian wife. However, both Gordon and the girl were denied entry, despite carrying Caricom passports.

"She cried all night. They just took our passports and told us we did not meet their entry requirements. If her father lives there why did they refuse the child the chance to see her father?" Gordon questioned.

The child was picture of dejection. "I don't see my father since last year," she said.

In a recent ruling in the landmark case involving Shanique Myrie against the Barbadian Government, the CCJ ruled that where a Caricom national is refused entry into a member state, that national should be given the opportunity to consult an attorney or a consular official of his or her country, or to contact a family member.

The Jamaicans said that they were not allowed to contact anybody nor were they even allowed to use their cellular phones to contact the persons who were waiting outside the Piarco Airport to receive them. They also claimed they were threatened that their phones would be seized if they attempted to use them.

"When I gave them the number of my sister-in-law, the woman (immigration officer) pretended to make a call and then told me that it was a man on the other end. While she did that I called my sister-in-law, who had invited me to visit her, and got her. I tried to give the immigration officer the phone but she said she was not talking to anyone," Onicia Robinson, one of the Jamaicans denied entry to Trinidad, said.

When the Observer contacted Robinson's sister-in-law, Gillian Leben, she confirmed that she was not contacted by any immigration official in regards to her receiving Robinson. "I was outside the airport with a taxi to pick her up until 4:00 this morning (yesterday) and my phone did not ring. No one contacted me," Leben said.

The CCJ had also ruled that member states should give, promptly and in writing, reasons for refusing entry to Caricom nationals. The receiving state is also obliged to inform the refused national of his or her right to challenge the decision.

The Jamaicans claimed that this was not done, saying that they were threatened to sign a refusal of entry form or spend the night in jail.

"I did not sign any form and I saw when the woman sign the form for me," said Cassandara Douse, who was among the 13.

For Omar Campbell the denial of entry was particularly painful. Campbell showed stamps in his passport to show that he had spent 10 months in that country and to compound matters he is married to a Trinidadian woman. He showed his marriage certificate to prove his claim. "To make matters worse, yesterday was my wife's birthday," Campbell said with a sad look on his face.

The Jamaicans also complained that they were verbally abused and told they were being turned back because of the recent murder of Trinidadian national Keron Fraser, whose body was found in a shallow grave at Duncan's Pen in Spanish Town, St Catherine, recently.

Fraser disappeared on October 18, two days after he arrived in the island from Trinidad.

Police said that, upon arriving in the island on October 16, Fraser, who was with a female companion, rented a motor vehicle and headed towards an undisclosed location in Clarendon. He was reported missing two days later.

According to the police, a few days after Fraser's disappearance, two men were detained by the police after they were intercepted in the motor car which he had rented. The vehicle had bloodstains, the police said.

In addition, the Jamaicans said they were only given two minutes to use the bathroom when they requested to do so, and security officials followed them to the bathroom.

"They sat and watched us all night and said we are prisoners. Dem don't like Jamaicans and say dem turn us back because we kill Trini in our country," said June Henry, who was visiting the twin-island republic for a three-week vacation.

The Jamaicans also complained that they were extremely uncomfortable sitting up all night after more than eight hours of travel.

"I had to sleep on a carpet, and we got some raw tasting chicken about 3:00 am," Jodian Davidson said.

For years, Jamaicans have complained that they have been subjected to sub-standard treatment at the hands of Trinidadian airport officials and have advocated a boycott of goods from that country as retaliation for the xenophobic behaviour of the Eastern Caribbean nationals.

Jamaica is a major market for Trinidadian goods and a number of Trinidadians have worked and lived in the country without hassle and in accordance with free movement within Caricom.

A passenger who travelled on the same flight with the denied Jamaicans told the Observer that an airline official informed him that last week 26 Jamaicans were turned back from Trinidad.

There was, however, no confirmation.

A security guard at the Norman Manley International Airport said that he had overheard a number of Jamaicans returning from Trinidad complaining of bad treatment at the hands of Trinidadian officials.

Yesterday, Jamaica's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade raised concerns about the number of Jamaicans who have been denied entry to the twin islands in recent times.

"The ministry is concerned at this development and continues to interface with the relevant authorities in Trinidad and Tobago on the matter, including in the light of the Shanique Myrie ruling by the Caribbean Court of Justice," it said in a release.

Airline tickets to Trinidad and Tobago cost between US$520 and US$750 depending on when the ticket is purchased.

A jury has now been empanelled in the murder trial of dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel.

Meanwhile one of the artiste's co-accused Calvin Haye was set free after the prosecution offered no evidence against him.

Vybz Kartel is now jointly charged with fellow entertainer Shawn Storm, André St John, Shane Williams and Kahira Jones for the murder of Clive 'Lizard' Williams.

Allegations are that Williams was killed at Kartel's home in Havendale, St Andrew, on August 16, 2011, after he and another man were taken to the entertainer's house to account for a lost firearm.

The other man is expected to be the prosecution's main witness.

Williams' body has not been found, however, the police say they have video and audio evidence linking Kartel and his co-defendants to the murder.

Reggae artiste Pashon Minott is asking her ex lover and father of her two children fellow reggae artiste Peetah Morgan to give her full custody. According to the artiste, Peetah Morgan has not been a functional father to his children for over six years and she does not think custody should be shared.

The daughter of late reggae icon Sugar Minott, says she is already functional as a single parent and wants to make it legal, so that she can represent her children when necessary without needing to get co-sign from Peetah Morgan.

She has already gone the Kingston and St Andrew family court for assistance and now has in her possession a summon for Morgan, who is being asked to make an appearance the family court on December 2,2013.

Sizzla US Visa Denied, Team will Appeal

Sorry for the mass email but I am beside myself. In 15 years of agenting and working with International artists from every area of the world, I have never seen anything so screwed up as this mess with Sizzla's immigration. Sizzla, Myself, His Lawyer were all promised the moon and the stars when we began booking this tour. We were so careful that we allowed a 3 month leeway to secure all the appropriate Visas beyond when the immigration attorney said she would have them. He was given his I129 and O1-B Status and all was presented as well. In short, the interview today did not go well and they denied his entry into America.

It is not a dead issue, but I am no longer comfortable waiting and seeing. What I would like to do is postpone the tour and look at rebooking it for February and MArch. In the meantime once he does gain entrance into the states, we will fly him over to do a national press release on the tour and explain how all of the promoters on this tour were so supportive and patient with the process.

I am deeply saddened by the news and I can say this is one of the worst weeks in my career. I would like to speak with each and every one of you and welcome a call. For the sake of alleviating some stress right now, I ask that we at least wait until monday to speak. I am at a loss for words and very upset. My company worked very very very hard and was given some unfair guidance and as a result we as you are left holding the bulk of this disaster. I am confident in Sizzla and I do really like he and his management team. They are good people and we expect that this will be a very lucrative tour in MArch and April. We are hoping to have his clearances overturned in the coming week or two. I really need to be extra careful and limit any more last minute cancellations. I hope you understand and we will be in touch next week.

Dancehall artiste Danielle D.I has released some raunchy pictures on the Internet, which leaves little to the imagination as it relates to some of her normally hidden body parts.

The deejay, who recently released a new album produced by iconic producers, Sly and Robbie, is also gearing up to reveal even more sexually appealing images when she launches her VEVO YouTube channel in coming weeks.

The pictures show the artiste wearing only a small thong as clothing, along with body paint covering her breasts, while making several poses for the camera.

According Danielle D.I's publicist, Keona Williams, the artiste is free to express herself. She also believes there exists a double standard as it relates to the reaction of Jamaican fans to their own artistes.

"Social media is a part of the market and we have to cater to that market as well in the same way as Nicki Minaj, Rihanna and others. When certain things like this happen abroad some Jamaicans have no problem with it, but if it's a Jamaican artiste they make a big deal out of it," Williams said.

Keona says the pictures are a part of a recent photo shoot conducted by the artiste in preparation for the launch of her official YouTube VEVO page. She also revealed that they are more controversial images to be released by the artiste on her VEVO page in coming weeks.

Danielle D.I is one of the featured dancehall acts in the Magnum All STAR Million Dollar Face-off competition, She is booked to challenge fellow dancehall artiste Stacious in a selecting battle on December 19, at Famous Nightclub in Portmore.

The rebel deejay is also booked to perform at GT Taylor's Christmas Extravaganza and Turbo Female Revolution on November 30 at The Chinese Benevolent Club. Danielle D.I is currently promoting a new single My Man produced by Sly and Robbie on the Taxi Records label.

As the Bounty Killer and Mr. Vegas 'fight ova gyal feud' continues into the war season, its seems like Mr. Vegas is ready to take the feud to Sting.

The Bruck It Dung singer recently released a new war song believed to be aimed at Bounty Killer called Bury Him Fuss. The song is patterned from a popular Christmas song and sees Vegas predicting musical death for Bounty KIller.

"Shatta dem doh rate him again, Bow cat and badman a nuh fren Mr. Vegas sings over a infectious rhythm. He even alludes to the potential of a Bounty Killer and Mr Vegas clash at this year's Sting.

The two veterans started a feud over 8 years ago, over a female which fucked both artistes. The feud was reignited recently when Bounty Killer poked fun at Mr. Vegas on twitter about his 90s costume on Digicel Rising Stars. Vegas quickly retaliated with a slew of online insults.

At one time he was the baddest man on the planet, a heavyweight champion who terrorized anyone who got in his way, inside the ring or out. More recently he's unburdened himself as perhaps the most tortured soul on earth, with a one-man show on Broadway that Spike Lee has turned into an HBO special airing Nov. 16.

It turns out that Tyson didn't tell us everything. Not to worry, because he's taken care of that in a hefty autobiography that might be the most soul baring book of its genre ever written.

The title is "Undisputed Truth," and the truth is that Mike Tyson is one messed up dude. He's desperate to put his demons to rest, but the book needed an extra epilogue written just before printing to talk about him falling off the sobriety wagon once again.

And though things might be better these days in Tyson's world, he constantly warns that he's not far from slipping off the edge, or slipping back into a strip club to party with drugs and women.

"Sometimes I just fantasize about blowing somebody's brains out so I can go to prison for the rest of my life," he writes. "Working on this book makes me think that my whole life has been a joke."

If so, Tyson has yet to figure out the punch line. Though he has reinvented himself in recent years as a family man and vegan with enough comedic chops to act in movies, he says he lives daily with the dark past of a junkie who loved to snort cocaine and drink and was constantly preoccupied with finding women to bed.

The sex is detailed in almost clinical terms, and the many women in Tyson's life flow in and out of the pages like they did in his life. One big exception is Desiree Washington, the beauty pageant contestant who Tyson was convicted of raping in Indianapolis -- a charge he heatedly denies -- and spent three years in prison.

"How do you rape someone when they come to your hotel room at two in the morning?" he asks.

Even in prison he got his fill, he says, first with visitors and then with a prison drug counselor who suddenly became available after Tyson had $10,000 sent to her home to fix her roof.

"I was having so much sex that I was too tired to even to go the gym and work out," Tyson wrote. "I'd just stay in my cell all day."

The book is in Tyson's voice but written by Larry Sloman offers a fascinating look into a life that up until now had already been well chronicled. It's raw, and so profane that Tyson needs to explain some of the terms he uses for women and blacks in a separate chapter at the end.

But it is also quite funny in parts, like the time Tyson forgot about a suitcase that contained $1 million in cash, only to have one of his gofers find it a week later.

"I had had a rough night in the city and had forgotten where I left it," Tyson said.

Or when Monica Turner finally tired of his ways and filed for divorce.

"I guess she had had enough of my fooling around because I sure did a lot of it," Tyson said. "Calling to tell her I had AIDS probably didn't help either."

Tyson is brutal on himself throughout the book, despairing of his lack of self-control and feelings of inadequacy. But he's equally brutal about the people around him in a career that made him more than $300 million, yet left him so broke today that he says he will never be able to pay off his IRS debts.

He calls first wife Robin Givens a manipulative shrew who made him act like a trained puppy, says Evander Holyfield was a serial head butter with ties to steroids, and claims the late referee Mitch Halpern was drunk in the ring during his first fight with Holyfield in 1996.

And while he tells an epic tale of beating up British promoter Frank Warren in a London hotel room in 2000 for not paying his $800,000 jewelry bill, he saves special venom for the havoc Don King wreaked in his life.

Tyson was an equal opportunity fighter when it came to beating up promoters, detailing several times he bloodied King, including once on Miami highway when he tried to strangle him in the car from behind.

"When I think about all the horrific things that Don has done to me over the years I still feel like killing him," Tyson said.

There's more, much more. Tyson knows how to tell a story, and he tells them about people you don't expect, like the day he found actor Brad Pitt at Givens' house. When Tyson confronted them, he said Pitt begged, "Dude, don't stroke me. Don't stroke me. We were just going over some lines."

He talks about money as dispassionately as he does about sex, though it was difficult for him to hold on to any of it. When he fired everyone and got new accountants in 2000 they prepared a statement showing he started the year $3.3 million in the hole but made $65.7 million.

"The problem was that I spent $62 million that year," Tyson said, including $2.1 million on cars.

And the Maori tribal tattoo he got on his face? It was supposed to be some little hearts instead, but the tattoo artist talked him out of it.

By the time his career ended with a loss to journeyman Kevin McBride in 2005, Tyson was fat and more interested in partying than fighting. He would go on to bloat up to 380 pounds and continue to drink, smoke and snort his way through strip clubs and bars.

"I just said to myself, Wow, this is over. Now I can go out and really have fun."

The book was supposed to have a happy ending, with Tyson slim and happy in his new life with wife Kiki, who he credits for his attempt at sobriety. But Tyson had to write a new epilogue after acknowledging in August that he had gone out drinking again.

He's back in AA and he's trying to stay sober, he says. But life for Tyson has always been a constant struggle.

"I desperately want to get well," he says. "I have a lot of pain and I just want to heal. And I'm going to do my best to do just that. One day at a time."

gyptian.jpg
Reggae artiste Gyptian, has topped Billboard's reggae chart with his latest studio album Love, Sex and Reggae. The artiste who's single Hold Yuh was certified gold by the RIAA earlier says Jamaicans need to lend more support to the music industry and quit being foreign minded.

According to the outspoken reggae artiste, several of Jamaica's biggest names in music were not given much respect in Jamaica until they were accepted by foreign countries. This he believes is an indication that Jamaicans are not as patriotic as they ought to be. Gyptian says it is a shame that in reggae's capital, and a country with over 2.7 million people, artistes are finding it hard to sell a minimum of 500 albums legitimately.

The artiste believes reggae music is Jamaica's biggest asset and implores Jamaicans to wake up and smell the fresh air, citing that citizens from other countries will gladly imitate the island's music and reap its profits if Jamaicans fail to support their own product.

"It's a foreign minded thing that we have about us. A man will wait on a man to bring something for him from foreign when the same thing is available in Jamaica, we have to have faith in our products. We must try to elevate the good things about the island like the music and stop supporting the negative bout yu a bad man and stuff like that. Talk about things like our music," he said.

Gyptian also lashed out at Jamaican artistes, who he says have changed their authentic product after signing to foreign record labels. According to the Serious Times singer, international labels sign reggae and dancehall artistes because they are attracted to the authentic structure of their music, he believes when Jamaican artistes attempt to rap on their albums and divert from authentic rhythms it defeats the purpose of which they were signed by the label. The artiste is apparently fed up with the irony of cultural exchange between many Jamaicans and foreign countries.

"People all over the world want to be like Jamaicans. Yet we are trying to be like them? Some of the artistes get signed to labels to do Jamaican music yet they start rapping. You can be versatile but always remember the authentic music and a reggae dat," Gyptian said.

The artiste highlighted that foreigners want difference, and not a fraud version of their own culture."Americans don't want us acting like Americans, that is their territory," he said.

Gyptian affirms that his album Sex, Love and Reggae debuted at number one on the American Billboard reggae chart because he and his team invested in promotions. He highlighted that one of the problems which reduces the capacity for reggae/dancehall artistes to sell records is because they don't promote their products effectively.

He believes many artistes are not looking on the broader picture when it comes to promotion, and would rather collect a large sum of money to perform for a small audience than to perform for free at a massive event.

"Artistes need to promote their albums for them to sell abroad. Some Jamaican artistes don't want to do a free show to promote their album. They want money and lose sight of the bigger opportunity at hand. A good performance is like a tree root, it spreads and people will want more. So at times it's better to perform for free to an audience of 40,000 and reap the financial benefits in the long term," Gyptian said.

The artiste also gave props to Shaggy and Sean Paul whom he says have carefully mastered the art of promotions, which he believes is testimony to their ability to sell albums internationally.

Gyptian's Love, Sex and Reggae edged out Snoop Lions Reincarnation and Shaggy's Out of Many One Music to nab the number one spot on the Billboard reggae album chart, a spot which is frequently held by reggae legend Bob Marley.

The artiste has been travelling across the Caribbean for shows almost every weekend, and has been a regular pick for several Corporate companies.

"I am very grateful and is just the work and time we putting in for the fans. Busy season Aidonia's manager and booking agent, Lavarcam Lawrence, says the festive season is already looking positive.

"We will be very busy from now down to Christmas into the New Year. Aidonia will be heading off to Barbados to headline Little Ricky Birthday Bash at the Kensington Oval, and when he gets back he will be jetting off again to St Vincent," Lawrence said. mad-cobra.jpg

As the Christmas holiday season draws closer, Sting 30, is on the lips of many Jamaicans, especially those living in the Corporate Area.

The big question being asked by everyone is who will Mad Cobra clash with at Sting this year?

It is widely rumoured that the veteran tough-talking deejay will do battle with another hardcore dancehall act who has triumphed in several Sting clashes in the past. There is also another rumor that Stein wants to make his warfare debut this year and is willing to put his budding career on the battle field.

Cobra, who shot to prominence in 1992 with the Billboard Chart hit, Flex, has featured in two of the most epic Sting clashes ever. He last week issued a release that he is willing to clash any artiste for a good price. Stein on the other hand is alleged to have said that he would clash Kiprich or any artiste who "feel like dem bad".

stein-photo-1.jpg

We know nothing about Stien's commercial clashing experiences, however In 1995, Cobra battled with perennial Sting clash king Ninja Man on Boxing Day at Jam World. Five days later, the two of them featured in the second leg of the clash at the Catherine Hall Entertainment Centre in Montego Bay with many pundits saying the clash was undecided.

Sources close to Cobra have said that he is eager to clash again at Sting, once the price is right and he is not afraid to clash anyone.

Supreme Promotions CEO, Isaiah Laing, anything is possible.

"We are not ready to announce who will clash at Sting 30, but I guarantee that the clash will be very exciting this year. Throughout the years, we have had some of the most memorable clashes and we intend to keep that tradition going. When the time is right we will release more information about the clash," said Laing.

Sting 30 will be held on Boxing Day at Jam World in Portmore, St Catherine under the theme 'Bring the Sting Jamaica Party 2013.'

D'Angel defeats Ishawna in Clash

Going toe-to-toe Ishawna and D'Angel gave good representations of themselves.

With judges Supa Hype and Tanto Metro in place, D'Angel was first to play in the opening juggling round. Dressed for war in camouflage trench coat and combat boots, she shouted her trademark "an so!" and started with a Beenie Man dub.

However, it was quickly clear that D'Angel and her selector were not quite in sync. In addition, in the round, D'Angel did very few effective introductions and, when she did, her quick manner of speaking did not help. She went for Chronixx's Odd Ras, Bounty Killer's Dead This Time and Supercat's warning to "watch it make mi come dung", ending the round with Kartel.

ishawna-sizzling.jpg

On the other hand, Ishawna was strong in the round from the get-go with a black gladiator style outfit, complete with short skirt.

"You fallen angel, the blood of Jesus against you!" Ishawna said and the crowd roared. Her juggling started on a spiritual note with Buju Banton and Gramps Morgan's version of Psalm 23, continuing with Untold Stories.

"We nah juggle di everyday ting. Some gal no creative," Ishawna said.

She dropped an Ikaya track, stating that D'Angel had not played any female artistes, before playing Greetings on 45 and dub. There was another jab at D'Angel, Ishawna claiming that only five persons attended her rival's An So Thursdays party.

Ishawna ended an already strong round on a high with a dub of Bugle's Compatible which took the house down.

Supa Hype announced "Ishawna take da roun' ya" and it was on to the 45 round.

Back without the trench coat, showing long legs and wearing a camouflage flak jacket, D'Angel fared a little better. Cobra's Press Trigger was a decent start and there was a rush at the front when D'Angel did a toss out, Flippa Moggler style.

Mavado's Action Pak was also in the mix, as the round ended on a high.

Ishawna demanded that D'Angel "stop buy forward" and hit where it hurt. "She a de only gal whe deh wid two icon inna dancehall. But none a dem nuh stay," Ishawna said, looking over her shoulder at the audience as she played Little Lenny's Healthy Body. That was strong, but it was when Vegas' She's a Ho was dedicated to D'Angel that Famous erupted. And, commenting that D'Angel kept saying she was from Spanish Town, Ishawna declared "a Seaview Garden mi come from" and played Kartel's observation "mi no care whe yu bad from".

It was two up for Ishawna, as Tanto Metro announced that she had won the round.

By a coin toss, Ishawna was up first in the dub for dub round. Ishawna mocked D'Angel's selector, mimicking a Japanese accent before dropping a dub of Dye Dye.

D'Angel responded with a Twin of Twins, sending Ishawna "dung inna hell". Ishawna was back with Bounty demanding "a who?", but D'Angel's Kartel took the house down.

Ishawna was back with Beres Hammond telling all to step aside, but D'Angel was in her element.

With the flak jacket off, she stood on the console to deliver a powerful Cobra shot, the crowd bouncing to the repeated "shot a fia".

There were some boos when Ishawna said "I hear say Angel carry a Coaster bus a people", playing a Bounty dub of Gun No Stick. But D'Angel had a resounding response.

"Me get di two boss fi dancehall, but yu get Joe handybwoy. Yu cyaa use my man dub an' kill mi," she said.

The howls went up as Bounty's unmistakeable voice hailed D'Angel and Famous only got more intense as he launched into a medley, concluding "yu dead yu Mumma bawl, Angel name yu call".

D'Angel was declared the winner, Nuffy explaining that based on the points allocation someone could lose the first two rounds but still win the dub for dub and win the overall face-off.

Some of Ishawna's disappointed fans sought to boo D'Angel during her victory lap, to much shock and surprise she responded.

"MI deh wid the two biggest names inna dancehall because mi pussy good," the audience erupted.

Cobra Wants US$ 40,000 for Sting appearance

mad-cobra.jpg

Mad Cobra has declared that he will only perform at Sting 2013 if he is compensated generously by the event's organisers, Supreme Promotions and Downsound Records.

"It has been 10 years since I last did Sting. The last three years, I paid my money and went to see it as a patron, mi never get no free ticket. So, if he needs me over there this year, Isaiah Laing will have to pay me. I already have a couple of shows lined up for the US where I will make US$60,000, so if he needs me at Sting, I have to be paid at least US$40,000," he said.

Cobra declared that he would rather work for free in the ghetto people shows than do Sting for less than he is worth.

"Ah from August dem check me, so right now, the window ah close. I would love to perform for the people at Sting and reintroduce myself to the young fans who love Teeth a Pull and who never yet see me perform. But if Laing dem a pay Super Cat US$80,000, then mi need to be paid as well. Mi woulda rather do the zinc-fence show dem fi free, but Sting has to pay," he said.

He said he plans to work early, so that he can deliver a full set chock-full of his hits like Yush, Gundelero, Bad Boy Talk, Done Wife and Flex, the international smash hit that topped the US Rap singles chart, hitting number seven on the R&B chart, and peaked at number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

However, he said he plans to return to the stage in the wee hours of the morning to participate in what he dubbed a 'jackpot' clash where money will be pooled for the ultimate Sting clash champion.

"I will put some of the money I got from my early Sting performances ... in the jackpot cause mi ready fi murder some people; just put me (up) against the top three and mi will kill them. It no matter which order dem come up in, ah just one result and one outcome, dem a go dead. Mi nuh have nothing to prove, mi nuh have no Sting title but mi badda than the whole ah dem," he said.

In closing, he delivered an ultimatum to the organisers.

"If no bad clash no gwaan over Jamworld, Sting ah go just be another stage show, nothing memorable and if yu waan people come out, yu have to pay money to entertain them."

Papa San Releases new project

Ever since his days on the secular stage, Tyrone "Papa San" Thompson has had a heart for music and the less fortunate. On Saturday he teams up with local charity The Rescue Package Foundation to twin two loves - philanthropy and music as headliner for the 5th staging of Liberation 2013: The "One Blood" Album Launch at the Jamaica College Auditorium, Kingston.

Collab Filled Frenzy

With anticipation for the project growing globally, Jamaicans will be the first to sample the collab-only disc. Featuring tracks from gospel heavy hitters Israel Houghton, Da T.R.U.T.H, Fred Hammond and Grammy award winning rapper Lecrae, he also hits notes with fellow Jamaicans Stitchie and DJ Nicholas. The 13 track project showcases Papa San's versatility like never before. With his unforgettable hooks and mile-a-minute raps, the music offered is fresh, inspiring and sure to please even his very picky Jamaicans.

5th Time's the Charm

It's not uncommon for Pastor Papa San to put his homeland first. Since migration he's blazed the trail for gospel, becoming the first Caribbean gospel artiste to hit the Billboard charts and consequently the first to win a stellar award (gospel's version of the Grammy). Now going by the name Papa Son (his new moniker from his 2011 album "My Story"), he's had success in his pastoral ministry as Senior Pastor for Our Father's Kingdom Ministries in Florida. However timing and schedules kept him from Liberation.

"For years we've wanted Papa San to be part of Liberation but due his very hectic schedule we waited. After learning more about our aim and our projects he decided to partner with us to help us meet our targets. Nothing happens before its time and the fifth staging of Liberation will be like nothing you've ever experienced", says Dania-Kae Kirkland, Marketing and Public Relations Officer for The Rescue Package Foundation.

The 5th staging also features other local gospel acts Kevin Downswell, Ryan Mark, Omari, Dunamis, Goddy Goddy &Denise Wright all backed by On The Shout Band. The event begins at 6:00 p.m., this Saturday November 2 at the Jamaica College Auditorium, 189 Old Hope Road, Kingston. All proceeds will go to the DuPoint Primary School Book Project and other charity projects.

About the Rescue Package Foundation - The RPF is a 9 year old not for profit organization registered in Jamaica and primarily works with children currently in their early childhood. The primary focus of the foundation is to provide a stable environment where the children have warm meals and a stable nurturing learning environment.

Tuffy Compared to Drogba in USA football

National striker Jermaine 'Tuffy' Anderson recently returned from a successful trial stint in the US for Indy Eleven, a new franchise in the North American Soccer League, where he was compared to Ivorian legend Didier Drobga.

According to the Waterhouse player, his success in finding the back of the net, and perhaps his solid frame, similar to the current Galatasary hitman Drogba, led to the comparison being made during the week-long stint.

chelsea-didier-drogba.jpg

"I scored in every training session. They called me Drogba," Anderson said.

The player was immediately back in action shortly after returning to the island, scoring two penalties that sealed a 2-1 come-from-behind win for Waterhouse against Sporting Central Academy in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) round-six action at Waterhouse Stadium.

Showed Composure

Anderson, who is the team's talisman, showed composure in scoring from the penalty spot in the 56th and 65th minute.

Earlier, the Clarendon-based Sporting Central took an early lead when Cory Hylton beat Waterhouse goalkeeper Kelson Cousins to give his team a 1-0 lead at the break.

Two-goal hero Tuffy Anderson said that it was important for the team to win the game as the league race was tight.

"It is my point of duty to score goals. I wasn't here for about a week as I was at trial. The team (Waterhouse) trained without me, but I know how the team plays, so I came back and did my job. We have to keep up with the leaders. It was important to win tonight," Anderson said.

With US $100,000 and a record deal with Universal Music Group on the line, last night the members of Team Adam Levine and Team Blake Shelton each showcased their vocal ability with songs selected by the coaches.

Having survived the blind auditions, the battle round and the knockout rounds, Tessanne stated that "I definitely feel like I'm getting closer to the artiste I want to be."

With nine contestants before her, they certainly saved the best for last as Tessanne closed the show. The 'Jamaican Powerhouse', as she is called, performed a cover of Jimmy Cliff's Many Rivers To Cross which once again earned her a standing ovation from coach Adam.

Police investigators in St Catherine say they have held a man who allegedly blackmailed Jamaica Public Service customers into paying him thousands of dollars not to disconnect their electricity.

The suspect was held in Portmore after he allegedly collected $40,000 from a customer.

"He was a former employee of a contractor, who worked at the company. He somehow had knowledge of the accounts," an investigator said.

The police said the man would visit the customers and tell them he is going to disconnect their power. He then demanded a sum of money to prevent this action. The fearful customers would then pay over the money to the suspect.

The police said the man is believed to have collected a minimum of $4,000 from each customer, and has been carrying out the scheme for some time. It is unknown how many customers he had duped out of their money. It was revealed that the scheme was thriving up to the time the man was held.

The police said its investigation has widened with a view of apprehending anyone else involved with the criminal act. The man is expected to be charged with extortion this week.

Johnny Defeats Ity and Fancy Cat in heated Clash

The Magnum All STAR Million Dollar Face-Off organised by THE STAR saw Ity and Fancy Cat losing to Johnny.

Patrons had high expectations of Ity and Fancy Cat in their match up against Johnny, however, it was Johnny who left the venue a champion after tearing the comedic duo to shreds in all rounds.

At the beginning of the clash, Johnny proclaimed that he would demolish 'Ity and Fluxy Cat', while Ity responded to Johnny's disparaging comments by singing Sweet Hour of Prayer to imply that Johnny would meet his demise. However, that was not to be.

The only thing Johnny lost in the clash was the coin toss, and was therefore sent to draw first blood. He did so comfortably by playing old school clash songs like Murderer by Barrington Levy and Respect by Shabba Ranks.

The patrons seemed to be enjoying the set and gave a decent response to his selections. However, when he played songs like Ring The Alarm and When the Roll is Called up Yonder by Tenor Saw, he received a huge roar of a response, and it was clear that Ity and Fancy Cat were up for a serious challenge.

Ity and Fancy Cat came next starting their set by playing Buju Banton's Psalm 22, categorically stating that they preferred to start their set on a positive note. Their first song, Bob Marley's Hold Ya Head was right on point, especially the line which said 'Whoa Johnny was a good boy' giving the idea that Johnny Daley was already dead in the battle.

However, their follow up songs weren't as lethal despite getting good responses from the audience. Songs like Lil Wayne's Love Me and Deep Jahi's Life Goes On were well received, but were not as effective in tearing down Johnny's prior effort. They ended their set with Shabba's Shine and Criss.

After several rounds of battle Johnny proved to be the stronger DJ and won over the audience entirely.

At the end of the face off, all judges ruled in Johnny's favour, while Ity and Fancy Cat were heard in the background jokingly accusing Johnny of bringing a bus load of supporters from his community to support him, an allegation which Johnny denied.

Ity and Fancy Cat also vowed to avenge their loss at Johnny's upcoming Roast tonight.

Main witness says he saw Lizard

vybz-kartel-photo-11.jpg

The two veterans started a feud over 8 years ago, over a female which fucked both artistes. The feud was reignited recently when Bounty Killer poked fun at Mr. Vegas on twitter about his 90s costume on Digicel Rising Stars. Vegas quickly retaliated with a slew of online insults.

mike-tyson.jpg

Amid his heavily booked schedule, from now until early next year, dancehall artiste Aidonia says he is gearing up to give the performance of his life at Sting. According to his publicist Kaylia Williams, "I implore everyone to come out to Sting on Boxing Day as Sting celebrates their 30th anniversary.

Already we are in talks with Miss Kitty for Nationwide radio's charity." The artiste has been travelling across the Caribbean for shows almost every weekend, and has been a regular pick for several Corporate companies.

The artiste has been releasing a series of songs geared towards the females which have been creating quite a stir on social media and has been getting good reviews for his new single Grip Mi, which was recorded in Martinique. The song, which has been topping charts across the Caribbean islands, recently had tongues wagging on social media after Rihanna's best friends, Melissa Forde and Leleboo, uploaded videos of themselves dancing to the song on Instagram.

The Instagram video received over 7,000 likes in less than two hours. The deejay is currently in talks with the producer, DJ Gil, who produced Grip Mi, for another project coming out of Martinique. mad-cobra.jpg

Papa San Releases new project

papa-san-one-blood.jpg

After blasting her way into the live rounds of the popular United States-based television show, The Voice, Jamaican artiste Tessanne Chin once again delivered a stellar performance and dominated the social media platforms.

"Mr. Morgan has not been a part of my children's life for the past six and a half years. I want permanent and full custody of my children because I am already functioning as such and I already have full custody of the children in America, I just want it in Jamaica as well," Minott said.

According to a letter signed and stamped by the clerk of the family court, Peetah Morgan should make himself available for the hearing in December and persons who are aware of his whereabouts should convince him to do so.

We are forming our own company called Vikings Productions. Vikings Productions will be my record label, management team and my booking agent as well. We will still work alongside other booking agents like Headline Entertainment also. Shane Brown is no longer co-managing my career, but we still work together musically. There is no bad vibes between me and him. It is still important for us to keep the production part of it regardless of what happened. Tarrus Riley deh deh same way but in terms of management - that will be Vikings Productions. No other name will be attached to me but them," Virgo said.

Brown confirmed"Juke Boxx had an agreement to assist Vikings Productions. That agreement is coming to an end and they will now be taking full control of Romain's career as of January 1. I will still be producing and helping out Romain in whatever way I can. I wish more partnerships can work out like this without any animosity," Brown said.

mike-tyson.jpg

Aidonia will definitely give an A++ performance and he will be bringing the Sting. To add, Aidonia plans to end the year with a bang and will be donating to a few charities. Already we are in talks with Miss Kitty for Nationwide radio's charity." The artiste has been travelling across the Caribbean for shows almost every weekend, and has been a regular pick for several Corporate companies.

"I am very grateful and is just the work and time we putting in for the fans. They have kept me in the business, motivating me to push harder and inspiring me to be more creative, so we continuing on that path and working with the formula and produce more hits for the fans to enjoy themselves," said Aidonia.

Aidonia is currently promoting Boomflick, produced by TJ Records and shot a video for that effort last weekend. mad-cobra.jpg

Papa San Releases new project

papa-san-one-blood.jpg

After blasting her way into the live rounds of the popular United States-based television show, The Voice, Jamaican artiste Tessanne Chin once again delivered a stellar performance and dominated the social media platforms.
