National footballer Tuffy, is now being hailed as a hero for his extra time goal scored in Tuesday's match against Costa Rica.
They say 'the stone that the builder refuses will be the head cornerstone' and Tuffy definitely proved that parable to be true, following former Jamaican coach Whitmore's arrogant decision to omit the player from the Jamaica football team, despite several pleas from the Jamaican people.
Tuffy now has one goal from one math after several of the team's international strikers failed to hit the target after several matches both local and abroad. Some Jamaicans have this perception that anything that is foreign is better than local, and this may have been one of the reasons why Whitmore opted to ignore a player that had scored the most goals in Jamaican premier league for two consecutive seasons.
For too long Jamaican football has suffered from bias in all levels. At the high school level only some players who represent certain high schools are drafted to represent the national team, and despite the brilliance of some high school players, they will never rise to prominence because they were not matriculated at one of the so called 'hi bred' high schools... Cut that shit out.
It must end. And not everything foreign is better; it took a white man from overseas to give Tuffy a chance to shine. In the same way in which the upper class largely rejected reggae music until foreigners recognized that it was a great genre of music and embraced it. The seasoning from slavery still lingers in the head of several Jamaicans. And it must end.
Big up Tuffy and congrats on your first national goal, Whitmore once again "Good riddance".
