Members of the United Democratic Party in the Cayman Islands were reportedly split in their decision to withdraw support for Premier McKeeva Bush in the wake of his arrest.

Bush had accused his party colleagues of stabbing him in the back and declared that he would not be resigning but was taking some time off on the advice of his doctor until Cabinet reconvenes next month.

However, the vote of no confidence in Government was passed at the Cayman Islands Legislative Assembly.

Eleven members of the Assembly voted yes while three legislators voted no after the motion was debated this afternoon in the capital Georgetown.

Premier Mckeeva Bush abstained.
