Member of Parliament for East Rural St. Andrew, Damion Crawford has advised constituents living along the Hope River bank in the Kintyre division, to evacuate by 3 p.m. today.
"With the volume of water expected it is possible for Hope River to overflow its banks. I am therefore appealing to the residents to pack and be ready to leave by 3 p.m. today," said Crawford.
The warning comes as a result of Tropical Sandy which will begin to move across Jamaica from south to north on Wednesday, at which point the island will start experiencing hurricane conditions.
More evacuation details will be issued throughout the course of the day.
