The Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation (KSAC) will present the keys to the City of Kingston to Jamaica's first National Hero, the Right Excellent Marcus Garvey, posthumously this month. The presentation will be made during a civic ceremony to mark the 125th anniversary of his birth, on August 17 starting at 4pm at Emancipation Park. The keys will be presented to his son, Dr. Julius Garvey.
Dr. Garvey is expected to be in the island between August 16 and 19 to participate in activities commemorating the anniversary of his father's birth.
The resolution to make the presentation of the keys, was passed during the council's monthly meeting on August 14 at its Downtown Chambers.
