A District Constable attached to the Gordon Town Police Station is now in custody facing gun related charges.
He was arrested after a gun which was stolen from a case file at the station three years ago was found in his possession on Saturday.
Reports are that after completing his duty on Saturday, he turned in his service pistol issued to him. However, an officer observed a bulge in his waistband and requested a search.
It was then discovered that he had in his possession a gun which was stolen from the station in 2009. The gun which was seized in an incident in 2008, went missing before the matter went to trial.
A file will be submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for a ruling on the matter.
