Early Sunday morning two persons, a male and a female, were arrested in connection with a bottle throwing incident that marred the annual Red Label Wine Dancehall Queen 2012 Competition.
The event was staged at Pier1 in Montego Bay. Patrons became irate and began throwing bottles after they announced Sherine 'Sher Rumbar' Scarlett of Portmore as the winner. Fans believed, Montego Bay native Keja 'Tall Up' Christie should have actually been crowned the winner of the Dancehall Queen competition.
She seemed to be the crowds favorite throughout the entire proceeding, she was however placed fourth, fans compliant bitterly that they cheated her out of top three and eventually the crown.
Proceeds from the Dancehall Queen competition go towards the Brian 'Big Head' Martin Foundation. The foundation has been providing scholarships to tertiary level students, especially from Montego Bay inner-city communities since 2005.
