The body of a school teacher was found in a river which runs close her home in Bamboo District in the parish yesterday.
She has been identified as 33-year-old Paula Gordon.
Reports are that neighbours began a search for her yesterday after they observed blood spots near her house.
Her body was found with injuries and a wound to the head, which the police believe was inflicted by her attacker.
Gordon was a teacher at the Sergeantville All-Age School in Harker Hall, St Catherine.
She was to leave the island this week on a trip to Disneyland in the United States.
The police believe robbery was the motive for Gordon's murder as an undetermined sum of money she reportedly has was missing.
St Catherine North Police have launched an investigation into the murder.
