
Kartel whose given name is Adijah Palmer and who remains in police custody, was nabbed about 4 o'clock this morning when police raided a New Kingston hotel.
Two other associates including a woman were held. A quantity of ganja was allegedly found in the room they occupied.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Ealan Powell told RJR News Kartel's arrest is linked to a wider investigation.
ACP Powell declined to provide details, however well placed sources say murder charges could be laid against persons close to the controversial entertainer.
Investigators were kept busy as they swooped down on premises reportedly frequented by Kartel.
The detectives first visited the Norbrook community in St Andrew where the deejay resides.
Following a raid by a team from the Caribbean Search Centre, Kartel was whisked away under heavy security to premises on Swallowfield Avenue in Havendale.The premises was the scene of a fire about two weeks ago.
A scorched computer hard-drive and other damaged computer paraphanelia were seized from that location. Under heavy security, a handcuffed Kartel, was driven to Clarendon Avenue off Augusta Drive in Portmore St. Catherine.
That location is believed to be owned by a close relative of the deejay.Curious onlookers converged at each location as they tried to get a glimpse of the popular entertainer.
After a near hour long search the police personnel left the Clarendon Avenue premises for an undisclosed location.
