St Jago, however, were knocked off the lead by defending champions Holmwood Technical, who have 38.50 points after six finals over two days of competition. The top five is completed by Edwin Allen High (36), St Jago (34), Vere Technical (27) and Manchester High 18.

Knibb had a throw of 13.64 metres to capture the girls' shot put open and in the process eclipse Candicea Bernard's record of 13.52, which was established last year. Vere's Serena Canegan (12.10m) took the silver, while Edwin Allen's Danniel Thomas (12.04m) claimed the bronze.

Despite picking up the bronze medal, Edwin Allen were left disappointed as favourite Sasha-Gay Marston, who earlier this year threw 13.71m and had, on the opening day, captured the Class One girls discus title finished fourth with a throw of 11.98m.
