Grade One student killed by goal post

A student of the Cokes View Primary School in Whithorn, Westmoreland, was killed on Monday afternoon, when a goal post on the school's playing field fell on him.
Dead is 7-year-old Grade one student, Nicholas Hamilton.
It is reported that close to midday, during the lunch break, Nicholas was among a group of students playing on the school's playground.
Nicholas and several other friends reportedly attempted to lift a goal post that was lying on the playing field, but after reaching halfway with it, the post fell, hitting Nicholas on the head.
He was rushed to the Savanna-La-Mar hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment.
The Ministry of Education says it is shocked and saddened by the accidental death of Nicholas.
The Ministry has expressed condolences to the family of Nicholas, the school and the community.
A critical response team from the Guidance and Counselling Unit of the Ministry has been mobilised to offer counselling to students and staff of Cokes View Primary and Nicholas’ family.
School officials are in touch with the family of Nicholas to offer support.
