auryn Hill was late to a recent show of her at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg; some fans even waited hours. But when she finally took to the stage (at midnight!) she gave an apology that didn’t sound too sincere.
“I spent my entire 20s sacrificing my life to give you love. So when I hear people complain, I don’t know what to tell you. I personally know I’m worth the wait.”
To fans that booed her, she motioned them to the exit, and told them they could get a refund.

Raz-B’s Brother To Chris Brown: “I’ll Put A Pistol In Your Mouth”
If you thought this whole Chris Brown/Raz-B twitter beef was already ridiculous, it just got a whole lot crazier.
Raz-B’s brother, who goes by the ridiculous name of Ricky Romance, posted a video response to Chris Brown threatening to put a pistol in his mouth if he ever saw Brown in Los Angeles.
Chris Brown ain’t no punk though (had a hard time writing that with a straight face).
He hit Ricky Romance (pardon me for laughing on the inside) back with a tweet saying that he’d be in Los Angeles very soon.
Bob Marley may be dead and gone but his offsprings are still waving the Reggae banner high. His son Stephen copped the award for Best Reggae Album with his creative piece Mind Control. This original 'Mind Control' also won the same award back in 2008.
January saw the Black Woman and Child singer Sizzla Kalonjie behind bars - albeit for a brief period. He was taken into custody for a shooting incident in August Town.
Gaza Kim was 'disciplined' on the Gaza strip. There was a lot of bickering regarding Kartel's input - the end result she left the camp and is now trying to take her career to the next level - without the backing of her former boss.
Animal deejay Zebra proved that his many stints behind bars has done nothing to rehabilitate him. He is now back behind bars for the another raping incident.

Mac D's faced some rough times during this month seeing the tax department coming down hard on it seizing several vehicles.

I release and let go, ready to make the most of this present moment.
As I reflect on the events of the past year, I recognize successes and failures, gains and losses. Each event has taught me something and made me wiser. Knowing this, I acknowledge and release the past year in gratitude.
In contemplation of the coming year, whether I am excited or apprehensive, I know the spirit of God will empower me to meet every situation with confidence and strength. With this in mind, I release any concerns I may have about the future.
Today I am ready to stand tall in this present moment. I appreciate the now, perfectly balanced between the blessings of the past and the promise of the future. This is the moment of power and action. I am ready!

naked photo of rapper T.I. has hit the internet. It looks fake to us, but if you’re still interested, head over to Media Takeout.

Eddie Murphy is the first online death today as rumors that the actor has died run rampant.
Eddie Murphy died is already trending today as the same idiot who started the Aretha Franklin, Charlie Sheen and Adam Sandler death rumors is at it again. It is really getting old that I have to write these articles up daily to extinguish a stupid ass death hoax.
For the gullible ones that already believe Eddie Murphy died, he did not.
Reports are that Murphy is very much alive and well and did NOT die in a sking accident. Much like yesterdays Aretha Franklin, Charlie Sheen and Adam Sandler death rumors, and the Murphy one is clearly a hoax.
Several Senior Members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force are to be reassigned as a major transfer of officers is slated to take place.
We understand that the transfers are to be completed by the middle of January.
Police Commissioner Owen Ellington this morning (December 29) told senior officers about the transfer plans to take effect over the coming weeks.
The transfers will affect officers above the rank of Inspector and will likely affect Divisional Commanders.
The move is to strengthen capacity within the Jamaica Constabulary Force and to ensure that persons with certain skills are placed in the best possible area for them to utilize those skills.
The transfers will be published in this week’s force orders.
Popular entertainer Vybz Kartel took to the media on Tuesday to voice his grouse with the police force after they shut down his show at the Building in New Kingston on Sunday, December 26.
The police raided the club, searched patrons and shut down the Kartel in Concert.
Kartel told the host of the radio programme that his show was singled out for no reason and said he would like to have a meeting with the Police High Command to work out whatever issues they have with him.
Corey Todd, Manager of the Building and the artiste's business for Kartel in Concert, was also on air giving his version of events.
According to him, he was treated badly by the police.
He said he was taken to three police stations and his United States passport taken from him without an explanation.
Kartel promises to make it up to his fans by staging a free concert inside the Building next week.
Meanwhile, Todd says he plans to take legal action against the police for their actions.
As for rumours that the police used tear gas during the raid, Todd says he is not sure that occurred but patrons were treated with "excessive force".
However, Superintendent Derrick 'Cowboy' Knight, head of the Half-Way Tree Police says the police went to the location based on information received that there were illegal firearms, drugs, wanted men and other persons of interest at the location.
He says the police will continue to follow leads.
"This entertainment location poses a serious security risk as the capacity is between around 1,500-2,000 and Sunday night over 8,000 persons were crammed inside with another 3,000 persons standing outside."
He added that two persons were taken in for questioning including Todd, while a female patron was arrested and charged with assaulting the police and defamatory language.

According to the story Orville Andrew Braham — the Jamaica-bound passenger whose bag exploded while it was being unloaded from an American Airlines flight at the Miami International Airport on Tuesday — is alleged to have concealed more than 700 ammunition primers and other parts in another piece of checked luggage.
In the affidavit filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, special agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Affell Grier said hundreds of .45 calibre ammunition primers were discovered concealed in the lining of one of Braham’s checked suitcases.
An ammunition primer is the component of a round of ammunition that initiates the explosive charge which expels a projectile from a firearm.
Grier, who is assigned to the Miami Division Squad T-8 — a counter terrorism squad with the Joint Terrorism Task Force — said the components of a disassembled ammunition reloading press were also concealed in the lining of the suitcase.
“Other components of the ammunition reloading press were found in a zippered compartment and wrapped in items of clothing concealed throughout the suitcase,” according to Grier.
An ammunition reloading press is used to assemble component parts, including ammunition primers, to create ammunition.
“When questioned further about the fact that his suitcase did indeed explode, and that ammunition primers appeared to be visible in the suitcase, he continued to deny having anything in the suitcase that could have caused the explosion,” according to Grier.
Well we glad we never get to find out what would have been the final outcome. Thank you Father.

I am a living, giving expression of the goodness of God.
Just as I make financial and business commitments in my life, I also make personal commitments to myself each day. In thought, word and action, I keep my commitment to be my best self with all people, in all circumstances.
I set an intention to let my divine light shine, to allow the goodness of God to express through and as me. Today I am kind and understanding, gracious and forgiving, looking for the best in everyone and every situation.
Spirit supports the fulfillment of my intentions. I act on them with energy and enthusiasm, fulfilling my commitment to be my best self today and every day.

Health officials say the death toll from the cholera outbreak in Haiti has reached 2,707.
The Haitian health ministry said nearly 130,000 people have been infected with the water-borne disease since the first case was recorded at the end of October.
The ministry estimates that 40 people are dying from the epidemic on a daily basis, despite ongoing international efforts to bring the disease under control.
Health officials said the disease has spread throughout the country, but is worse in the central province of Artibonite, where at least 813 people have died. Forty-four deaths have been reported in the southern province of Nippes.
However, in the south-west district of Grand Anse, Haitian health officials said the situation remains complicated because people associate the outbreak with voodoo spells and do not comply with the measures established for cholera cases.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has warned that up to 400,000 people could be infected with the disease within the next 12 months.
The acting director of the Seismic Research Centre of the University of the West Indies (UWI), Dr Joan Latchman is warning Caribbean countries to be prepared for a magnitude-eight earthquake following the 5.2 tremor felt in Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday.
Trinidad's Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) said there were no reports of damage or injury from the quake that the National Earthquake Information Centre at the United States Geological Survey said that the quake was located 15 miles north-west of Port of Spain and 70 miles west south-west of Scarborough in Tobago. It was also felt in some sections of Venezuela.
Latchman said that a major quake could hit the Caribbean any day.
"Our largest earthquake close to Trinidad occurred in 1756 which is more than 200 years ago. The largest one in the Eastern Caribbean occurred in 1843, which is more than a 100 years ago; the region is poised for a large earthquake," she said on a radio programme here.
On January 12 this year, a magnitude-7 earthquake shook Haiti, killing an estimated 300,000 people and leaving more than one million others homeless.
Latchman said that while earthquakes in the magnitude 7.1 to 7.5 range have been recorded in the Eastern Caribbean "every 20 to 30 years, we have not had that one in the magnitude, eight range, that we expect every 100 years."
"We need to take it seriously... we need to take the earthquake hazard very seriously," she said.
Latchman said that Sunday's earthquake was part of a series of earthquakes that began in September 2006 when one of the tremors registered a magnitude of 5.8, the highest registered on land in Trinidad since the Seismic Unit has been monitoring earthquakes.
Defence attorneys representing Tesha Miller have failed to convince a Magistrate to release the reputed head of the Spanish Town, St. Catherine-based Klansman Gang on bond.
Miller, who is now facing charges of illegal possession of a firearm, larceny of a motor car and robbery with aggravation, was remanded when he appeared before the Spanish Town Criminal Court on Tuesday.
His case has been transferred to the Gun Court in downtown, Kingston.
It is alleged that earlier this month, Miller and two of his cronies stole a motor car from a man in Spanish Town.
He reportedly took away the keys to the car while his alleged cronies, who were armed, watched.
However, in applying for bail on Tuesday, lead attorney Bert Samuels argued that from the statement of the complainant, Miller was not carrying a gun and therefore he should not have been charged under the Gun Court Act.
He added that there is no evidence that Miller stole the car.
However, this argument did not convince the magistrate, who cited the fact that Miller committed the latest offence while out on bail.
Last week, several persons including relatives of the alleged gang leader were arrested when they took to the streets in Spanish Town to protest against his arrest.
Cost of living getting higher, more seller than buyer...the sentiments expressed in this song is more true today than ever. According to the Bank of Jamaica despite strong growth in the amount of currency in circulation last week, the actual out turn remained below their projections.
Net currency issued last week grew by $6.6 billion.
However, that was almost 6% below the bank's projections.
The slower than expected growth in the amount of money to facilitate holiday spending mostly reflects a depressed economy.
At the end of business on Friday, December 24, about $58.4 billion was in circulation.
Declines are expected in that figure over the coming week, which is consistent with seasonal norms.
Going for some the very best producers reggae/dancehall music has to offer, singer Colin Levy (also known as Iley Dread) has hand-picked Barry O'Hare, Bobby Digital, Dean Fraser , Stephen Marley and Stephen 'Di Genius' McGregor to work on tracks for his upcoming album,Unleashed.
Scheduled to be launched in early spring 2011, Colin Levy officially released the debut single, Lover’s Holiday, at a special release party held recently in Canada. Lover’s Holiday is produced by Ocho Rios-based producer, Barry O’Hare, who has a long history of working with singers in particular, with much success.
According to Levy, he assembled these elite producers for this album project because Unleashed represents his maturity as a reggae singer.
“I have a great amount of respect for veterans like Dean Fraser, Barry O’Hare and Bobby Digital … they have a body of work that speaks for itself. And then there are the two Stephens, both of them the sons of reggae icons (Bob Marley and Freddie McGregor). I think they are possibly the best young producers in reggae and dancehall right now,” Colin Levy explained.
He was also quick to point out that although Stephen Marley is a many -time Grammy winner, both as a singer and a producer, “his attitude is amazing. It’s not about hype; for him, it’s all about work. I respect that”.
Levy, who visited Jamaica over the Christmas holidays to perform on GT Taylor’s successful Christmas Extravaganza, also used the opportunity to promote the single, Lover’s Holiday, and premiere the accompanying music video.
The video was shown for the first time on HYPE TV 'Up and Live' with the feedback being that it was “refreshing lover’s rock, feel good music”.
The preliminary hearing into the case against a Canadian man charged with the attempted murder of his wife, got underway in the Falmouth Resident Magistrate's Court in Trelawny Tuesday morning.
The preliminary hearing, which comes five days after Paul Martin, 43, from Ontario, reportedly slashed his wife's throat, was hurriedly called to facilitate his wife, who is scheduled to leave the country for further medical treatment.
In the case that has drawn international attention, both husband and wife took the stand on Tuesday and were cross questioned up to late Tuesday afternoon.
It is reported that on the afternoon of December 23, a taxi operator spotted the couple in a tussle inside a motorcar in the Stewart Castle area of the parish.
The driver reportedly returned to the area and the vehicle in which the couple had the alleged altercation sped off.
The taxi driver further reported that he saw the woman on the ground bleeding from her throat and rushed her to hospital where she was admitted and treated.
And the attempted murder of the Canadian woman by her husband has attracted media attention in Ajax, Ontario.
According to Canadian press reports Martin is a Grade 5 teacher at St. Francis de Sales School on Church Street in Ajax.
The report quoted school officials as saying that they are working with the principal to inform the school council and staff about the incident.
The report also stated that a crisis team will be at the school when students and staff return after the Christmas break.
One parent who is familiar with the accused said the allegations are sure to rock the small, tight-knit institution.
The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) says there is no link to terrorism in Tuesday's incident at Miami International Airport involving a man who was bound for Jamaica.
Miami-Dade Police and the FBI arrested the 37-year-old US citizen for carrying a type of explosive which set off the alarm system at the airport.
FBI spokesman Special Agent, Michael Leverock, who confirmed there was no link to terrorism said the man, whose identity has not been released, is charged with traveling without a license to carry ammunition.
He is being held at a federal Detention Centre.
His bags were being unloaded at Gate D-17 from American Airlines flight 2585 from Boston when the explosion occurred.
Officials say the man had hundreds of blasting caps in his luggage and when one cap ignited others followed.

Sting 2010 was a mixed bag, with dismal crowd, some artistes who could have stayed home and others whose performances the crowd couldn’t get enough of.
The night’s stand-out acts were Sizzla Kalonji, Chuck Fenda, Richie Spice, comedians Food Kartel and Tanto Blacks and the combination with Beenie Man, Agent Sasco and Kip Rich. On the female side, those artistes who entertained the crowd were Lady Saw, who gave a superb performance, Etana, and Ce’cile.
There was some disappointment that the collaboration between Beenie Man and Bounty Kiler didn’t take place because Killer left Jamworld without performing, leaving his fans to wonder what had happened, as no explanation was given by the promoters for his absence.
Also absent were Aidonia and D’Angel, again, no reason was given why they were no-shows at the Boxing Day show.
The duo of Reggae Queen and DJ Face on stage sorting out their differences proved a lw point of the evening. The two didn’t have a clean thought and they were ushered off the Sting stage to clean up their filthy act.
Lisa Hyper got the first boo of the evening and shortly after left the stage. Also, minutes after she entered centrestage, the LIME signpost in the VIP section came crashing down on patrons, sending them scampering for cover and injuring dancehall personalities Bull Puss and producer/manager, Q 45.
The man of the moment on the international scene, Gyptian, failed to make the impact he should have; Khago was a very slow starter but managed to score with his final two songs; I-Octane did his set in the wrong order and had a up and down performance; Future Fambo gave a decent performance and Romain Virgo was commanding.
Sting, as usual, was a marathon event which laster till8:00 am Monday morning. Luckily, Monday was a public holiday.
I follow where Spirit leads me.
The story of the Wise Men reminds me of the power of divine wisdom. Although I may not see a visible light in the night sky to guide my way as they did, I experience divine light within me each day, guiding my path and filling my soul.
Divine light illumines me, and through this light, I am assured of peace and success along my life's journey. Just as the Wise Men followed the star to the Christ child, I follow my star--my guiding light--to a greater spiritual awakening. I am assured that with divine light to guide me, my path is clear, my journey is blessed and I am at peace.
As I open my mind and heart to the wisdom of Spirit, I am led along a path of magnificence, joy and unending good.

Halle Berry has been busy dazzling photogs on the red carpet recently, hamming it up for a new Farrelly Brothers comedy, and enjoying a new romance with Olivier Martinez -- but she says that despite her glamorous adulthood, she's still healing from the trauma she witnessed in her childhood home.
The Oscar winner, 44, opened up to CNN recently about what motivates her to work with an organization that supports women who escape violent homes.
Berry recalls being terrified that her violent dad, who physically abused her mom, would turn on her, adding, "I think I've spent my adult life dealing with the sense of low self-esteem that sort of implanted in me. Somehow I felt not worthy." As incredible as that sounds coming from a highly paid, highly photogenic movie star, she explains, "Before I'm 'Halle Berry,' I'm little Halle....a little girl growing in this environment that damaged me...I've spent my adult life trying to really heal from that."
Of her dedication to supporting others trying to escape domestic violence -- including frequent volunteering at Jenesse Center, a Los Angeles shelter, and helping to renovate apartments for women leaving abusive relationships -- she says, "I have a spot in my soul that understands the devastation that this causes a family."
PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad, Tues. Dec. 28, 2010: An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale rattled the north coast of Trinidad on Sunday night, the West Indies Seismic Research Centre reported Monday.

More calls are mounting on Tuesday morning for the Golding administration to ‘bare all’ following last week's release of embarrassing contents of diplomatic cables unveiled by Wikileaks.
Controversial communications between Jamaican and Washington appear to have embroiled the Prime Minister's wife, Lorna Golding and Kingston's Mayor Desmond McKenzie, and have apparently caught the government in an embarrassing position.
Wikileaks cables have alleged that Mrs. Golding tried to present the extradition request for Christopher 'Dudus' Coke as a conspiracy against her husband and his Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) administration.
Mrs. Golding was reported to have done so during a meeting at her house with a United States Embassy official in Kingston last December.
Up to late last week the government was tight-lipped on the latest revelations.
However political commentator Lloyd B Smith says the Golding administration should break its silence in a bid to prevent any further embarrassments for the government.
“Nothing is more terrible than to leave persons speculating therefore leading to all kinds of ideas as to what may or may not have been said or done and in politics perception can be more dangerous than reality,”
“I do believe that the government having set a record so far of being evasive and sometimes we have seen where lies have been told and there has been a great deal of deception, I do believe that the Wikileaks disclosures should be addressed in a very definitive way,” he said.
In addition, Mr. Smith says any response from the government should be forthcoming with a full explanation from Mrs. Golding herself.
“In the case of Mrs. Golding, notwithstanding the fact that she is not a member of the administration, the fact is that she is the Prime Minister’s wife…she should come forth with some kind of clarification and if she can’t do so appoint someone to speak on her behalf. We need to know exactly what went down,” Mr. Smith said.
When bad things go fi happen it nuh easy at all. On Sunday night it was pure bad luck for the historic hotel Morgan's Harbour when fire destroyed a section of the kitchen forcing some of its occupants to seek accommodation elsewhere.
According to the Port Royal Police, a call about the fire was received at approximately 11:00 pm.
According to a report made in the Observer a guest told the paper.
"A friend reported the fire to the front desk after she smelled smoke that was coming in through the windows and doors from both sides of the room," the guest explained. "The call to evacuate wasn't until after that."

The keys to the kingdom are available to us all. These are not hollow words; they are truth. Life is meant to be lived abundantly. Rather than focusing on lack, I acknowledge the ways in which I am blessed.
My relationships, my body, my bank account--all are healthy and strong. With each breath, I take in the richness of life, the richness of Spirit. My chest swells with love, my heart fills with gratitude and I see God's blessings. This is my spiritual inheritance. Abiding in God's love, I experience the kingdom--the sufficiency of all things and the abundance of every good.
Then you shall see and be radiant; your heart shall thrill and rejoice, because the abundance of the sea shall be brought to you. --Isaiah 60:5

R&B legend Teena Marie has died, Washington Watch host Roland Martin has confirmed.
Reports of her untimely death spread online after a tweet from Ronald Isley. The soul crooner wrote: “Just found out a friend, Teena Marie passed away. I really didn’t expect to hear this. RIP. We will miss you much!”
Soon after a back and forth about her death erupted with various stars like LisaRaye and Kym Whitley saying that Teena was in fact alive.
However, as the minutes went on reporter Roland Martin confirmed with Teena’s manager, Mike Gardner, that the singer passed at the age of 54.
Philadelphia radio station WDAS first reported the story on the airwaves.
Sheila E. shared a few scarce details of how Teena’s daughter, Alia Rose, discovered her mother’s dead body.
“Her daughter found her in her bedroom already passed. she had seizures prior to this passing. please pray for her family.
They just took her body from her home. Teena Marie found dead by her daughter whose BD was yesterday. pray 4 her & her family.”
The protégé of the late Rick James has been an R&B staple since the debut of her 1980 release, Irons in the Fire.
I am inspired to right action for the good of all.
The Christ within is God individualized in each one of us, the divinity that is our pattern for perfection. Jesus achieved perfection in his life, declared it also possible for everyone, and lived as an example for us to follow.
With the Christ Spirit as my inspiration and guidance, I am called to be a peacemaker. I maintain a peaceful perspective in my own mind and body through my prayers, my meditation and by loving and caring for myself. At peace within, I am a presence of peace.
I realize my oneness with and my love and respect for all of God's children. I acknowledge our commonality, appreciate our diversity and celebrate our shared divinity. Through the Christ within, I am inspired to right action for the good of all people.
The God of peace be with all of you.--Romans 15:33
O holy night! The stars are brightly shining,
It is the night of the dear Saviour's birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining.
Till He appeared and the Spirit felt its worth.
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.
Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices!
O night divine, the night when Christ was born;
O night, O holy night, O night divine!
O night, O holy night, O night divine!
Led by the light of faith serenely beaming,
With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand.
O'er the world a star is sweetly gleaming,
Now come the wisemen from out of the Orient land.
The King of kings lay thus lowly manger;
In all our trials born to be our friends.
He knows our need, our weakness is no stranger,
Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!
Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!
Truly He taught us to love one another,
His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains he shall break, for the slave is our brother.
And in his name all oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
With all our hearts we praise His holy name.
Christ is the Lord! Then ever, ever praise we,
His power and glory ever more proclaim!
His power and glory ever more proclaim!
O Holy Night Christmas Carol Lyrics
We wish for you a blessed and holy day and in all you do remember Jesus is the reason for the season. Do enjoy your day and be careful on the road.
Christ in me is the hope of glory.
On this Christmas morning, what can I offer the reborn Spirit of Christ within me? I can offer eyes that look for the goodness of God in all people. I can offer hands ready to serve in small and large ways. I can offer feet that will walk in the path of peace and light.
On this Christmas morning, I offer the Christ Spirit within me a mind willing to believe in eternal possibilities. I offer a voice that sings of faith, joy, love and oneness. I offer my cooperation in establishing the kingdom of heaven here on earth.
Celebrating today the birth of Jesus, I find in my heart a new willingness to believe that I can do my part in making Christmas not just one day in the year, but a way of living life.
Know the love of Christ ... so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.--Ephesians 3:19
First the Fatboys break-up, and now this.
TMZ is reporting that Jermaine Jackson, older brother of the late, legendary Michael Jackson, may bring in 2011 homeless.
Jackson's 5 bedroom, 6 bathroom Calabasas home is set to be sold for a minimum bid of $2,184,233 January 21st on the steps of a Pomona, Calif., courthouse. After leasing the home for just under 18 months, pursuant to California law, he has 60 days from the time of foreclosure to vacate.
This is bad news for the former Jackson 5 member, who has been receiving negative media attention for failing to pay nearly $100,000 in back child support. In September, Jackson asked a judge to reduce his $3,000 a month payments to $215 per month, because he was broke and unemployed.
How a grown man can father all these children and expect his mother to support them is beyond me, but that is exactly what Jermaine and his child's mother have been doing.
Jackson, best known post–Jackson 5 fame for his love ballad duet with Whitney Houston, "If You Say My Eyes Are Beautiful," and his brother, Randy, both have children with the same woman, Alejandra Oaziaza, who along with 4 of her children were recently kicked out of the Jackson family compound in Encino, Calif.
Allegedly, Mama Katherine refused to allow them to remain, after Jermaine's son, Jaafar, attempted to taser Michael's youngest son, Prince Michael II, commonly known as "Blanket."
With all the drama, intrigue and mystery swirling around the Jacksons, I think a reality show may just be the answer to all their problems. I'm sure millions would tune in to watch this train wreck.
It's sad to watch this family, who has given us years of quality entertainment and been central to our musical landscape since the '70s, disintegrate before our eyes. From the years of alleged abuse at the hands of family patriarch, Joe Jackson, to the untimely death of their beloved baby boy, Michael, it has been one tragedy after the other. The Jacksons deserve some peace.
Then, Jermaine needs to get a job.
Bob Marley, who is easily one of reggae’s most successful and influential musicians, has left behind a legacy that still inspires artists today. With countless critically acclaimed albums and several prestigious awards, he continues to have an impact on our lives. Now we’ll be able to listen to the Jamaican's last recorded performance on an upcoming live album due out early next year.
This will be the sixth official live album by Bob Marley and The Wailers, and is entitled Live Forever. The album has two CD’s worth of material, and features some of Bob Marley’s greatest hits like “Jamming”, “Redemption Song”, and “No Woman, No Cry”.
The material was recorded 30 years ago at a show on September 23rd, 1980 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania just after writing the hit album Uprising, which would turn out to be the last studio album Bob Marley released during his life. The record is planned to be available for purchase on the first of February.
“Bob’s music has always conveyed a message of hope, unity and love,” says Rita Marley. “It has brought countless people together as it did that night 30 years ago in Pittsburgh. To hear that music today and to be able to share it with a new generation shows that Bob is as relevant today as he was 30 years ago.”
The track listing for the album will be as follows:
02. Natural Mystic
03. Positive Vibration
04. Burnin’ and Lootin’
05. Them Belly Full
06. The Heathen
07. Running Away
08. Crazy Baldhead
09. War/No More Trouble
11. Zion Train
12. No Woman, No Cry
03. Redemption Song
04. Coming in from the Cold
05. Could You Be Loved
06. Is This Love
08. Get Up Stand Up
Frustrated with what they say is a distinct media bias toward dancehall music in Jamaica, a group of disgruntled musicians have formed an organisation to push for a level playing field.
Protest Now And Save Reggae (PNASR) is the name of the group which currently has 15 members, including president, Canute Parkes, a singer who also goes by the moniker Livebroadcast.
Drummer/songwriter Oniel 'Blunt' Walters is vice-president of the organisation, which also includes guitarists Andrew Simpson, Mitchum 'Khan' Chin and Lebert 'Gibby' Morrison, bassist Donald 'Axeman' Dennis and keyboardist Carol 'Bowie' McLaughlin.
Parkes said getting 'serious' Jamaican music back on local airwaves is one of the PNASR's primary objectives. That and rescuing reggae music.
"We want to see reggae risen from its fallen state and to do that we've started a movement that is going to get it back to an acceptable level," Parkes told The Gleaner.
The PNASR plan to release a song, Reggae Rescue From Freefall, to help push their point. It will be distributed to all local media and, based on response (airplay, etc), results will be sent to the Broadcasting Commission, the independent body that monitors airwave standards.
"Depending on the level of airplay the song gets, we will be in a position to test the integrity of the system," Parkes said.
McLaughlin, who has recorded with Beres Hammond, Dennis Brown and Ziggy Marley, says the PNASR should be a wake-up call for a dancehall-skewed media.
"We need a monitoring system that will diversify especially radio," said McLaughlin, who produces music for his Rusty Car label. "We're not knocking dancehall but there are people out there who would love to hear substantive sounds on radio," he added.
Lauryn Hill is putting herself back on the music trail and hitting the road for the new year.
The Grammy-winning artist has announced a series of intimate shows, kicking off right after Christmas and running into February.
Lauryn will appear with a live band on 17 North American dates.
Stops include New York and the famous Chicago's House of Blues, plus two dates in Canada.
Well aware that she "may never play venues of this size again," some of which she "hasn't played since the Fugees days," the star is excited "to see her loyal supporters up close and personal again."
She will perform reworked versions of Fugees classics and hits from her breakthrough solo debut album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
National shooters Romelda Aiken and Anna-Kay Griffiths were hurt when the national team bus for the Sunshine Girls was stoned in Central Village, St. Catherine Wednesday.
The bus transporting players home from national training in preparation for the up-coming series against Australia, was on its way to Clarendon.
It was passing through Central Village at about 9:00p.m. when stones were hurled at the vehicle.
The windshield was shattered, and the players were cut by the splinters.
Aiken describes what happened.
"I was sitting at the front and I didn't see anyone throw the stones but (something told me) to turn around and duck, which I did and then the (windshield) shattered. This is the second time that this has happened … once we were going to Portmore and someone threw a stone at the bus. Splinters were on me most of the night and another girl who was sitting behind me got a small cut. We're still in a bit of shock because we did not expect anything to happen," Aiken was heard relating to RJR Sports.
Jamaica's Sunshine Girls will return to training on January 3.
There are indications that the Trinidad authorities are having concerns over the completion of the Air Jamaica deal.
The information came out as part of the public quarrel between the Trinidad Transport Minister Austin "Jack" Warner and members of the Board of Directors of Caribbean Airlines Limited (CAL).
Squabbles between the Trinidadian Transport Minister and the Caribbean Airlines board about who makes decisions for the airline, have brought into sharp focus, concerns about the Air Jamaica deal.
In a release last week, the board of CAL revealed that three of its members visited Jamaica on November 18 after Captain Ian Brunton, the airlines former Chief Executive Officer, suggested that the Trinidad Government "should not complete the Air Jamaica transaction" which had been approved by the previous administration.
The visit was sanctioned by Mr. Warner after he was told in advance of the agenda to be discussed.
It is not clear who the Board members talked to or what was agreed during the visit but the sanctioning of a trip to discuss the possibility of walking away from the deal to acquire Air Jamaica runs counter to public statements by both Mr. Warner and the Trinidadian Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissesar endorsing the deal.
Currently, Caribbean Airline is in a transition stage with Air Jamaica in a plan that will see the Lovebird absorbed into its operations with the Trinidadian carrier assuming ownership of the assets.
CAL should also be recognised as the Jamaican national airline and have the right to use the brand.
In turn, the Jamaica Government is to retain a 16% stake.
All this should be completed by April 30, 2011, a deadline by which Caribbean Airlines has the right to terminate its transitional arrangement with the Jamaican Government on minimal notice and with no penalty.

Trinidad-American rapper, Foxy Brown, should reportedly be releasing a Lil Kim diss track today.
`Christmas Massacre` will reportedly be released on Christmas eve. On the track, Foxy reportedly gives a shout out to Trinidad rapper Nicki Minaj who hit up New York`s Hot 97 this week and said that she once was told by Foxy Brown that Lil Kim was talking about her.
The song will premiere at a holiday party at Club Jelani`s.
Minaj meanwhile has also said during the appearance that Lil Kim will be remembered as a `sore loser.` Now Kim plans to release a dis track called `Black Friday` going after the Pink Friday star.
Honestly we are curious plus tax regarding what exactly the tourists had in that fish in St Mary. We can't think of any food that is poisonous. It's a real bad mark for our island and I feel for the people at that particular villa.
Thirteen others were also hospitalised in the incident. Jamaica`s Minister of Tourism, Edmund Bartlett, has expressed regret at the passing of the tourist who died in St. Ann last night. The deceased was a member of a group which was vacationing at a villa in St. Mary.
Preliminary investigations indicate that members of the group had purchased fish at a supermarket in the parish only hours earlier, but later fell ill after eating a meal of fish and potato salad they had prepared.
Members of the group were rushed to the St. Ann`s Bay Hospital where a male tourist was pronounced dead on arrival while ten other persons, including Jamaicans were admitted in critical condition.
Minister Bartlett was quick to note that the Ministries of Tourism and Health will continue to render the critical assistance needed to the group, in order to ensure that they return to good health. He outlined that `the Ministry of Tourism is implementing measures to provide support for the relatives of the deceased and members of the group as they seek to recover from this regrettable ordeal.`
The Ministry of Tourism is working along with the Ministry of Health and other state agencies to facilitate the medical care of the members of the group and to investigate the cause of the incident.
In the sacred silence I find peace.
The Gospel of Luke tells the story of the baby Jesus, born and laid in a lowly manger. The stars stood still over the spot; a holy hush filled the air. At the moment of birth, the manger became a sacred place.
There is a sacred place within me that I discover whenever I behold the Christ of my being. I am made new each time I enter into the wonder of my creation as a beloved child of God. My thoughts are still and a sacred silence fills me. I am enfolded in the enduring love of the Creator. I am at peace.
I may enter my sacred place when I am alone or with dear ones. I may carry my sacred place to a quiet room or to a candlelit church. In the sacred silence, I find peace.
This will be a sign for you: you will find a child wrapped in bands of cloth and lying in a manger.--Luke 2:12
It is that time of year again; and as Jamaican households prepare for the festive celebrations of Christmas, the kitchens invariably harbor a lingering and pleasant scent of sugar and spice and everything nice.
The food part of Christmas is oh so important and getting the flavors just right is an art envied by many, but the final products are always enjoyed by all.
There are Christmas ‘food customs’ that are strictly adhered to as the season springs, and this tradition of fixing plenty food with beverages to match, follows Jamaicans wherever their chosen adventurous roads lead them, throughout the world.
Christmas is not a one day celebration in Jamaica, as the yuletide spirit starts at the top of December and lingers through till the first week of January, with non-stop rolling out of delectable eats. Sharing the tasty dishes with friends and neighbors is a must and some folk look at it as showing off the culinary expertise of each household in a pleasant and joyful way.
There has been an unspoken rule however, when it comes to the Jamaican Christmas cake. Everyone bakes the same kind of cake, but no-one likes to pass the recipe on. All Christmas cake bakers tend to like their own unique flavor, but that buck stops here this year.
Brittany Murphy’s mother Sharon is under the impression that her daughter is still alive. As you might recall, Brittany died tragically right around this time last year, after battling pneumonia.
She told In Touch, "It's beyond strange. I don't have answers for it. Sometimes just in order to function, I pretend it didn't happen."
And keep in mind, as if the poor woman didn’t have enough to deal with, Brittany’s husband Simon Monjack passed away just months later! "I feel their presence here. It's comforting," Sharon told the mag.
She reportedly keeps her daughter's bedroom exactly as it was before she died.
She explained: "I'm always remembering times with her. She would always say that we grew up together, and that's true. We were so close, and such great friends."
Sharon is writing a book about Brittany right now, so let’s hope that helps her close some doors, and maybe put that house on the market! I do not know how she stays there after everything that happened this past year!

Katy Perry is enjoying the bliss of being a newlywed with Russell Brand, and half of the fun they’re having is in the bedroom! The two are super busy, as most celebs are, but this is a couple who has their priorities straight!
Katy told Grazia magazine, "We're both busy, but this is a huge part of my life. I call the shots on my schedule.
"There are weekends for Russ and weekends for me and my friends. Neither of us ever wants to lose ourself or the other in fame."
But the times they together are well-spent…I’d say! "I have secrets and magic tricks, of course. I can't share them because then you'd all know," Perry dished. "But let's just say I'm not shy."
Let’s hope these two are being careful with all that bedroom talk, or before you know it they’re going to have little Katy and Russells running around! But it seems Mrs. Brand has already thought about parenting as well.
"I don't want to miss out on any experience. I want lots of children, " she told the mag.
But for now she says she’s focused on her career and enjoying being married to Russ. "Every day he amazes me," she gushed. "He makes me laugh like no one else. We are each other's perfect match."
An array of international and local musical stars have been confirmed for the event's 15th staging, which will once again make the picturesque Trelawny Multi-purpose Stadium.
In addition to Maroon 5, Sisters with Voices better known as SWV has been added to the line-up and so too have Jamaican songstress Diana King and Irish recording artiste Laura Izibor.
SWV, the American female contemporary R&B trio from New York has been mesmerising fans since coming together in 1990. Their infectious sounds have brought hits such as Weak, Right Here/Human Nature and I'm So Into You. The group, which reunited in 2005, after disbanding to pursue solo projects in 1999, has been ranked number 100 of the top-500 pop artistes of the past 25 years.
Laura Izibor has been compared to legendary singer Aretha Franklin.
The event, takes place January 23 to 29, 2011.

James Robertson, Mining and Energy Minister and Member of Parliament (MP) for Western St Thomas, has filed a lawsuit in a Florida Court seeking damages against attorney-at-law Professor David Rowe, who is representing Ian Johnson, the man who has accused the minister of illegal activities.
In his suit filed in the Southern District Court in Florida, Mr. Robertson is going after Mr. Rowe, the attorney who took the damning deposition from Mr. Johnson, who is seeking asylum in the United States.
He has sued Professor Rowe for damages in excess of US$15,000.
The minister and his US-based attorney Alvin Entin claimed that the statement made by Mr. Johnson of Mr. Robertson being involved in illegal activity, was false and that Professor Rowe knew that the statement was false.
The Energy Minister accused Professor Rowe and Mr. Johnson of creating the false statement for the purpose of damaging him politically.
He accused Professor Rowe of being engaged in a campaign against the Jamaica Labour Party and its members.
He said the sole purpose of Professor Rowe in taking the deposition from Mr. Johnson is to defame him through libel and slander.
Diddy took Kim Porter, his on-and-off girlfriend and baby mother to three of his kids, on a Caribbean yacht getaway yesterday.
The couple was spotted cuddling as the yacht began to sail around St. Barts.
They brought along their twin daughters D’Lila and Jessie, and son Christian. Mom Janice joined, as well.
Rihanna and Nicki Minaj are becoming fast friends. They’ve appeared on each other’s albums, and if you caught this year’s MTV Music Awards, you saw the two get touchy-feely on stage.
Nicki Minaj told RWD Magazine about how the ladies met and how their friendship has developed.
“It’s funny, Rihanna was one of the first people to reach out to me about me writing. I didn’t even know anyone would really consider me for that. I got a call, and I remember getting on the phone with her and I was so starstruck! She was like, ‘You got a nice flow’ and I’m like, ‘Huh?’ cos I’m thinking she’s like goody two-shoes…”
“She didn’t wind up using the things that I sent her for that album at that time but we wound up having a mutual respect for each other. So I knew eventually something would happen… And so now when I see her, she fondles me and stuff like that.”
“She fondled me at the VMAs and AMA’s…. Let’s just say she’s the best fondler ever because security didn’t hem her up and she left to tell about it!” SOURCE
Keyshia Cole has come to realize what we all already knew: that “I Ain’t Thru” featuring Nicki Minaj was not worthy of being a lead single. It wasn’t instantly catchy, radio friendly, nor did it showcase trademark Keyshia’s power vocals.
Keyshia recently admitted to the Associated Press that she regrets releasing the song, especially since she went against the advice of her label.
“The label didn’t really want to drop the record because they knew that people wanted a more intense, soulful record from me about love and I really should have followed (their) direction. But I wanted that to be a statement record. It’s like saying, ‘I’m doing me, you know. I don’t have no regrets for nothing that I’m doing.’”
She knew going for a more club-oriented record was risky, but she wanted to take a chance, saying, “I just think that people expect me to be, you know, an artist that sings about just love. But I’m always growing as an artist and I have to feed my artistry.”
We respect her for stepping off her familiar territory, but this time around, it just didn’t work.
antasia Barrino just dodged a huge financial bullet. The judge presiding over her boyfriend’s divorce case ruled Antwaun Cook was separated from his wife before he and Fantasia hooked up, so his wife can NOT sue Fantasia using North Carolina’s ‘Alienation of Affection’ law. According to radaronline.com, The court found the pair’s separation date was September 14, 2009 — not June, 2010, as Paula had claimed.
Fanny took the stand in the case and admitted to having an abortion with Antwaun’s child.

Haitian-born Grammy singer, Wyclef Jean, is set to record a duet with Country Music star, Kenny Rogers.
The former Fugees front man recorded Kenny`s hit `The Gambler` a few years back, and now Rogers is anticipating what the two could team up for his duets album called `Killer Combinations.`
`Wyclef Jean is a friend of mine, and he did `The Gambler` on his record once before, and it was a pretty cool thing,` Kenny tells Gannett.com. `He did a whole rap version of `The Gambler,` and I sang - actually spoke - part of the thing. I`d like to do something with him that`s musical, for lack of a better term, because he`s a very big guy in Haiti - that`s where he`s from- and I have a really good following down there. I think we could do something musically very interesting.`
Haiti and other Caribbean nations have long been solid fans of Rogers and Country music.
Can't make it to Sting this year, well you don't have to worry it will be live and in living colour on LIME TV this year.
From the MC's first introduction on Boxing Day through to the last note of the marathon concert at Jamworld, Portmore, St Catherine, on Monday morning, Sting 27 will be broadcast live on LIME Mobile TV. It is a double first - Sting being carried on television in Jamaica as the action unfolds and also the newly launched LIME Mobile TV's first live programming.
Olint's boss David Smith will be facing trial in April for his failed ponzi scheme. Stanton is already serving time in prison, Madoff has been convicted and imprisoned and only in Jamaica is the wheels of justice real slow. While the victims of Cash Plus are suffering because their money went up in smoke, it seems as if Carlos Hill won't have to suffer any consequences for his abuse of their trust. Will there even be a trial much less prison time?
The massive Reggae hit, Party Like It's Your Birthday, made waves here in Jamaica but according to word out of the Scikron Big Yard camp, the song is heating up in Atlanta as well.
The song - a collaboration with Richie Loop, D-Major and Busy Signal - was released in June and has been receiving heavy radio rotation.
Reports are the song is on the verge of making a big impact on the US east coast as the song is being played in the clubs and on respective Internet radio sites.
Busy Signal says he is happy that the song is such a huge hit and thanks the fans for the support they are giving to all three artistes.
I relax, release and place my faith in God.
Sometimes I need a reminder that God is my help in every need. When I feel tense, concerned or fatigued by circumstances, it is a cue to change course. Perhaps I have been feeling I must handle everything immediately and by myself. From the depths of my being, I am nudged toward the awareness that there is a more peaceful path. My soul never forgets that I am one with Spirit.
As I relax, release and place my faith in God, I am directed to a wellspring of inner peace. I invite my mind to become still, my breathing to slow, my striving to cease. After a few moments of letting go and letting God, I welcome the flow of renewed energy and the reassurance that God is with me. With gratitude, I open to new ideas, restored confidence and unlimited resources.
Have faith in God.--Mark 11:22
WikiLeak was in no way finished with jamaica as they alleged that Kingston's mayor Desmond McKenzie held secret meeting with US officials regarding Dudus' extradition claiming it would do more harm than good.
Watching his defense on television last night we have to admit that we were curious about his choice of words. "I have no recollection of any such meeting". Knowing how the Mayor has been fiery and peppery when he is wronged we were expecting words like, "let them bring the proof, I am going to sue!"
All we can say is interesting, real interesting.
If what WikiLeak is reporting has any truth to it then honestly we could feel nothing but sheer embarrassment for the Prime Minister's wife. She is painted as a butto and someone who can't conduct a good social meeting with the upper echelon of society. Imagine telling your diplomatic guest that what you are giving them is somethign your husband made the night before!! Oh no!
The cable, released on Wednesday, has been published by the United Kingdom-based Guardian newspaper.
Lorna Golding is reported to have invited Patricia Attkisson, the US Public Affairs Officer, for afternoon tea on December 11, 2009 at the Prime Minister's residence.
However, based on the document, Mrs. Golding was unprepared and unable to stay on message.
According to the US cable, Mrs. Golding expressed concern about the actions of United States officials in the extradition of Christopher 'Dudus' Coke.
The Wikileaks cable describes the encounter between the Prime Minister's wife and a US Embassy official as "an often surreal and disjointed conversation."
The cable says "the invitation ... to meet for afternoon tea on December 11 at the PM's residence had been unexpected."
According to the cable, "no other guests were in attendance and no tea was actually served."
The cable adds that the US official "was offered some salad that Mrs. Golding said the Prime Minister had prepared the previous evening."
It says Mrs. Golding took issue with the fact that US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton had not mentioned the Government of Jamaica specifically in her traditional Independence Day message to the Jamaican people in August 2009.
The US cable also says "Mrs. Golding remained convinced that the White House's delay in naming a new US Ambassador (to Jamaica) is because Jamaica has been "downgraded" as a result of the extradition request delay."
The cable closes by saying that "Mrs. Golding insisted that she had invited the US official" to have tea on her own initiative and that Prime Minister Golding, although aware of the meeting, "hadn't put her up to it."
Oprah Winfrey’s OWN network is set to launch January 1, 2011. After three years of planning, delays and management misfires, it will be the biggest launch of a cable channel in more than a decade.
Here’s what you can expect:
“Oprah Presents Master Class” biography series will share the life stories of those who have inspired Oprah, like Maya Angelou, Sidney Poitier, and Simon Cowell.
“Oprah’s Next Chapter” features the talk show host interviewing, but this time it will be outside of a studio! She plans to visit “interesting places — in front of the Pyramids, the Great Wall, or in a village in Kenya.”
“The Gayle King Show” brings Oprah’s best friend’s radio talk show to TV.
“Your Own Show: Oprah’s Search for the Next TV Star” features Oprah looking for the next big thing with the help of “Entertainment Tonight’s” Nancy O’Dell.
While the network’s shows sounds promising, viewers finding the channel poses a problem. Winfrey’s network will mostly reside on channels above 200, taking over the position of the Discovery Health Channel. The higher the number, the less likely viewers will stumble across the programming.
“Kim Kardashian was the alleged winner of an alleged online poll for “World’s Best Bum 2010″ that The Sun claims took place recently. The Sun says they spoke to the publishers of the cryptically unnamed contest that they probably made up for a slow news week. Still we get to talk about people’s butts, so we’re game. Kim’s win marks the dethroning of Jennifer Lopez who allegedly came in second. Rounding out third was purportedly Beyonce, the wannabe Latina, with Shakira, Jessica Biel, and Lady Gaga bringing up the rear. (Sorry. Couldn’t resist.)”
Consumer woes are about to increase, with mass hikes in the price of commodities on the international commodity markets.
News emerged on Tuesday which suggest that consumers should start bracing for food, fuel and clothing hikes.
Data showing the recession is reaching an end pushed the price of oil to two year highs on Tuesday stoking fears that fuel prices will start running up again.
But price increases have not stopped there as coffee prices reached a 13 year high while sugar touched 29 year highs.
The price of cocoa and orange juice also rose as did soybean prices, corn and wheat which all pointed to the likelihood that food prices will start increasing early in the new year.
The increases are not only on food items however, as the price of clothes will also be going up.
This is because cotton prices jumped to a record, for a second straight day on Tuesday, on speculation that global supplies will fail to keep pace with demand.
Investors in failed Neville Blythe-led UGI Finance and Investments Limited, are yet to receive their money since it collapsed in January and went into receivership.
The investors turned up at the Altamont Court Hotel in New Kingston on Tuesday to hear how they will be paid but were left disappointed with the Liquidator's comments.
The Liquidator, Dalma James, told the investors that there was no money to pay them next month.
The largely middle-aged to elderly crowd numbering over 30 informed RJR news on Tuesday that they had invested some or all of their live savings into the company.
It is understood that the company went into receivership on January 12 and proceeded to close its Mandeville and Montego Bay offices without notifying investors.
The investors say they found out about the closure after they were contacted by the Liquidator in March at which time they had their first and last meeting with Mr. Blythe, Chairman of UGI Finance's Board of Directors.
One incensed investor, Verona Black-Brooks says it was the company's suggestion that the matter be kept quiet which prompted her to contact the media.
Mrs. Black-Brooks says she has over 15 years of life savings in the company and she has been left without a cent.
"My concern is because I work hard for my honest bread and the bank has closed with all my hard earned cash. I have no money, I have to be borrowing people's money and I don't know how I'm going to repay them. I need my money and I don't know how I'm going to get it back," she said.

Will Gramps, an established reggae crooner who has performed at sold out stadiums around the world, trade his career in music for an opportunity to play pro ball? If Gramps has his way, he could be suiting up for a team and a shot at a championship for the 2011 season. Apparently the singer who grew up playing high school football in Springfield, Massachusetts with his parents and 29 other siblings will try out for Semi Pro American football teams in Georgia and Orlando. “I actually started training about six months ago but I have not gone full steam as yet as I will have to increase my strength to get in football condition” he told the Weekly Star. The big question fans will no doubt want answered is how will his football schedule impact his music career? “It won’t at all” he declared. “I will schedule my solo projects so it will be a non issue. In fact I plan to get back in the studios soon, for the next Morgan Heritage album.” He confessed that the urge to get back on the football field started when he went in the gym to lose weight a few months ago. “I remembered being on the field and the rush that I got from being in that very competitive sports. Recently I met with some of my friends that play in the NFL and one of them suggested I try out for a semi pro team.
Truth be told, I’m at a point in my life where I’m up to any challenge” he said. To help him prepare for the rigours of a pro football career, he solicited the services of a player from the Cincinnati Bengals who will serve as his coach. Training will commence after the Super Bowl. “I think my chances are very good that I can make the team. Maybe I have about a 60/40 chance of making the cut” he said.

Come Sunday December 26 at Jamworld in Portmore, dancehall diva, Lady Saw, will mount the Sting stage to deliver a rare performance. It’s been seven years since Saw last thrilled fans at the Boxing Day event with her hardcore lyrics, delivered in her raunchy and lovable style, and she is looking forward to a triumphant return.
The deejay, who earlier this year released her eights studio album, My Way, says her "return” to the Sting stage will be nothing short of spectacular. One of two females in the blistering ’13 Warriors’ segment, Lady Saw is approaching the upcoming event as a serious challenge.
“We know that Mr. Laing says there will be no war at Sting, but who really believe him? This is Sting and tings haffi gwaan. As far as I can see, there will be a lot of issues to be settled with some artistes,” Lady Saw expressed.
And, while Lady Saw has no intention of getting into any kind of “kas kas” with any artiste at Sting, she is busy sharpening her pencils, as she knows that Sting is not for the faint of heart.
“I’m here studying for Sting,” she said in a telephone interview from her St Mary home. “Yeah man. This is Sting and as an artiste you have to be prepared. You can’t go with any and any ting. I’ve written some songs especially for the Sting crowd, so I’m here at home going through them, getting the delivery and those things right,” Saw explained.
She notes that she has already rehearsed with Ruff Kut and “things are shaping up good. I’m pretty excited about this upcoming Sting performance,” she said.
Meanwhile, Lady Saw is also reveling in the recent release of the official Lady Saw app, which fans are being urged to download and get connected to the Queen of Dancehall. She explained that this new app is one way to get the latest Lady Saw music, videos, pictures, show info and much more.
Saw also has several new ringtone’s available including, He’s At My House featuring EVE her newest single off of her My Way album.
“The app is very cool and takes Lady Saw right up there with cutting edge technology,” she sated.

One A Way is a part of a promotional sampler CD that the group has just released.
Some of the other songs that are on the CD are Party Party, Feel Nice, Naturally, The Streets and I Wanna Know What Love Is.
One Third hopes to release their debut album next year.
Rohan Marley, one of Bob Marley's many children, was maced and put in a headlock by an off-duty policeman working at a club in Los Angeles on Saturday.
Reports are that Marley got into an argument with the policeman outside Voyeur nightclub, after mistaking him for a valet driver.
The off duty cop took offense to the mistake and the two exchanged words and the disagreement turned physical.
Marley, 38, was then restrained by the officer, who was also working security at the location.
Sources at the scene said the officers maced everyone involved in the scuffle, not just Marley. Marley told the media that he was simply defending himself and feels the officer went "overboard" and that he "just can't let this go," and plans on pressing charges.
Rohan Marley is the longtime companion of Lauryn Hill.
The couple, who have been together for over a decade share five children, while Marley has two other children from a previous marriage.
He is the sixth of Bob Marley's 10 children.

It is called Digital Revolution and is set for release on January 25.
Digital Revolution is a three-disc collector’s edition that includes 42 of their most influential and biggest hits on discs one and two.

Reputed Clansman gang leader Tesha Miller has been charged with robbery with aggravation involving a motor car and illegal possession of a firearm.Miller is to appear in the Gun Court next week.
The charge came a day after the police in the St Catherine North Division were placed on high alert, following reports of threats against them. It also coincided with a stand-off between police and residents demanding Miller's release.
The police, who are not taking the threats lightly, yesterday called for reinforcement from the military.
As early as 8 a.m., residents - mostly women - took to the streets to protest along Burke and March Pen roads.
Police and soldiers were quick on the scene and dispersed the crowd, taking four protesters into custody for breaches of the National Solid Waste Management Act.
Business interests said they were depending on the police to be effective in their approach towards the situation.
"We are very concerned about the situation and hope the police will assist the businesses to remain viable," said Dennis Robotham, president of the St Catherine Chamber of Commerce and Industry. "We also hope it will happen soon enough for Christmas."
Miller has been in custody since December 11.
His attorney, Bert Samuels, said Miller has declared he was innocent of the charges and looking forward to his day in court.
Knowing I am divinely protected, I am at peace.
God guides, supports and protects me as I move through my day. When I face a challenge or uncertainty, I take a moment to look beyond what lies before me. I refrain from pondering all the "what ifs" and turn my thoughts to God. Through the very act of remembering the presence of God, I realize peace.
As I turn my attention away from the problem, I flip the switch that connects me to the One--a constant, bright, warm protective presence. Love wells up in me. I feel calm and serene. Circumstances come and go, but God's love dwells in me at all times, and in that love, I am safe and secure.
Because you have made the Lord your refuge, the Most High your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you. --Psalm 91:9-10

Church leaders have launched a protest against plans to stage two Christmas Eve concerts featuring several leading Jamaican artistes.
In a statement, the Conference of Churches said that the island's Christian heritage was under attack.
The concerts will feature popular Jamaican artistes Beenie Man, Mr Vegas, Assassin as well as local entertainers.
"Our heritage is under attack by mega-shows such as the one advertised for Christmas Eve in the National Stadium," said the church leaders.
"It is regrettable that shows by foreign artistes who promote a culture contrary to our Christian values are held on what is supposed to be a "silent night" and a "holy night" the statement said.
Concerns have been also raised in many quarters here as well about vulgar and violent lyrics in the songs by Jamaican artistes.
Police Commissioner James Clarkson said permission had been granted for the concerts to take place and has warned that any artistes who perform smutty lyrics during the concerts would be pulled from the stage.
"We have police officers who have been briefed with special instructions that would be closely monitoring these concerts," Clarkson told reporters.
"If any artistes sing lyrics that are found to be degrading against women they will be asked to leave the stage."
The Conference of churches is urging persons to celebrate Christmas in ways consistent with Christian values and not bow to other pressures.
"It would seem that as a people we are no longer conscious of God and proud of our heritage. Despite the force of high-pressure advertising Grenadians do remain free to make choices.
"Those of us who profess our belief in the Good News should exercise that freedom by choosing to celebrate the Birth of our Saviour in ways that are more in keeping with his teaching".
The Road Safety Unit in the Transport Ministry is reminding Jamaicans that the alcohol consumed in food, especially cakes, during this holiday season can still impair judgment when driving a motor vehicle.
Director of Road Safety, Kenute Hare says this is a period when persons will be imbibing a lot of alcoholic beverages and consuming foods which have alcohol in them.
He is therefore imploring Jamaicans to have a designated driver or a designated ride whether a private motor vehicle or a taxi.
Mr. Hare is also reminding Jamaicans that the police force knows where every event will be taking place this season and will be strategically placing personnel around these locations.
He says the police will be using the breathalyser system on persons who will be leaving these places of entertainment in an effort to ensure that they do not create mayhem in the traffic environment because they are under the influence of alcohol.
Mr. Hare points out that this is a very critical period in the country’s history as for the first time since 1999 the nation is on track to have the number of road fatalities be less than 300 for the year. The fatalities now stand at 288.

An affable artiste, known for his quick smile which goes all the way to his eyes, Wayne has been battling challenges which have resulted in his career being put temporarily on pause for close to two years.
“It was quite unfortunate that the dispute with the record company (VP) escalated, but all that is water under the bridge now,” the suave singer explained, sounding very relieved.

Dancehall artiste has Chino making waves in Japan.
His hit single From Mawning continues to be the number one purchased and downloaded track and ring tone on Japan's most established ring tone site, Reggae Zion.
The single, which was released on Chino's sophomore Japan album, Never Change in the summer of 2010, outranked all Japanese artistes' tracks and went on to become the site's best-seller of the year.
“I can't say anything more than bless up to the Almighty, the fans, friends and even the naysayers,” said Chino.
“Myself and those at Big Ship are always in the studio exploring and trying to put out quality music for the fans, not only in Jamaica but for the other markets. So I'm very happy that they've been not only accepting but also supportive of quality reggae music. Thanks again to the fans, industry persons, media and everyone," he added.
From Mawning and a number of other tracks featured on Never Change were produced by ace producer, Stephen 'Di Genius' McGregor, who happens to be Chino’s brother.
Never Change debuted at the number seven spot and later that day shot to the second spot on the i-Tunes Reggae chart.
My heart is happy.
I start this day by filling my mind with constructive and optimistic thoughts. As a result, I start this day with a happy disposition, a happy heart.
I remember these words from Scripture: "Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." As I do this, I leave no room in my mind or heart for unhappy thoughts or feelings.
As I start my day with a happy heart, my outlook is brighter, my walk is lighter, and my voice is sweeter. Love lights the way before me. My happy heart releases all tension, and I am at ease and at peace in mind and body.
Happy are those who trust in the Lord.--Proverbs 16:20
Nelly recently talked about marrying his longtime girlfriend Ashanti.
While interviewing with Rap-Up TV, Nelly still claimed that he and the singer were just “friends,” but then went on to talk about marriage without being asked to.
He admits, “There’s no time limit on this. I’m not a person that wants to get married more than once.”
Tiger Woods' brother, Earl Woods Jr., had some interesting things to say about the golfing superstar. Woods is the oldest of three children who came from the previous marriage of Tiger's now-deceased father. Tiger's brother now publicly claims that Woods has cut the family off and that he hasn't spoken to him since 2006. Apparently, they spoke quite frequently when Tiger was younger. It seems that, according to Earl, the trappings of fame, entourages and piles of money may have detached Tiger from that which matters most: those who love us. At the same time, we can't say for sure what happened in Tiger's family that caused the division to occur in the first place. Tiger's brother says that although they were invited to ride on Tiger's jet to their father's funeral, the golfer barely acknowledged them during the trip.
One interesting thing about Tiger Woods is that he has long been notorious for cutting off those who've crossed him. Friends who spoke to the media about his personal life were gone forever, and Tiger has reportedly been quite ruthless in protecting his privacy. All that changed with the Internet, where privacy is no longer an option, when TMZ can fly a helicopter over the roof of your house. Tiger learned this year that no matter how powerful the celeb might be, no one can have complete control over his destiny, public image and lifestyle.
Another added point that gives credibility to Earl Woods Jr.'s side of the story is that Tiger has appeared to possess a bit of the narcissism that comes with being the greatest golfer in the history of the world. A married man who has unprotected sex with porn stars (as Woods reportedly did) might be perceived to be a wee bit inconsiderate. There's no way to determine what personal nightmares Tiger's ex-wife Elin has experienced since finding out about her husband's secret life.
Earl Woods Jr. didn't appear to be on a mission to bash his baby brother. Instead, he actually defended Tiger's public image, and made it clear that the man being portrayed in media is not the person his brother actually is. He also didn't seem to be chasing money, but then again, we don't know what his ambitions might be. To be honest, if Earl Woods is having financial problems, it would be frustrating to be cut off by a brother earning over $100 million per year. I'm sure that every family member's financial problems could be solved with the spare change in Tiger's pocket. To that extent, given the size of Woods' massive fortune, it would be expected that he would create a small fund (perhaps just a measly million bucks) to help with family financial problems -- a man should take care of the people who loved him before he became a big shot.
During his interview with CNN, Earl made a final point that many of us speculated to be true in the first place. He said that Tiger has been lost since the death of his father, Earl Woods Sr. It does appear that the loss of his dad changed Tiger in ways that most of us can't imagine. Loss and grief can make us do strange things, and superstars like Tiger Woods are no exception. Let's hope that Tiger finds his way to happiness and a truly wealthy life.

A model’s hair caught on fire last night while Diddy and Dirty Money were celebrating the release of their album, “Last Train To Paris,” at New York’s London hotel.
Comedian Kevin Hart was sitting with Fabolous and Trey Songz at a hot tub surrounded by bikini models, rose petals, and candles, when suddenly one girl’s hair caught on fire.
Trey notices first, then Kevin, then the girl. She panics and drops her head into the tub, while Kevin screams to shut the camera off (while also laughing hysterically).
Diddy is “no longer” welcome at the Manhattan hotel. He told hotel managers he’d only invited 20 people to the penthouse for the private celebration, but it quickly grew it to almost 200 people. The New York City Fire Department officials were called to assist woman.
Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown are reportedly planning an intervention for their 17-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina, according to the National Inquirer.
Though the Inquirer has never been the most reputable source, we have noticed that Bobbi Kristina is frequently spotted partying.
Her parents, who have publicly struggled with serious addiction problems themselves, are reportedly trying to prevent her from making the same mistakes that they did.
A source reveals:
“Whitney and Bobby sat Bobbi Kristina down and read her the riot act. They brought in counselors and they’re trying to drum into her that because of their problems, she’s genetically predisposed to alcoholism and drug addiction. They’ll do anything to spare Bobbi Kristina from the substance abuse hell they’ve both experienced. Whitney and Bobby are torn because they don’t want to alienate their daughter and overact, but they realize she’s at risk for serious addiction problems, just like them. They’re dealing with these issues as a family, and they’re praying it’s not too late to get Bobbi Kristina back on track.” SOURCE

The Government is blaming an arm of the police force for the damning revelations in the United States diplomatic cable released by internet whistle-blower site, Wikileaks, two days ago.
The cable was dated August 2009, and quoted Cuban officials as expressing frustration with Jamaican officials' lack of co-operation in curtailing drug smuggling.
A statement from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) on Thursday, said investigations by the Minister of National Security have revealed that Cuban officials had expressed concern about the failure of a Jamaican police unit to respond to communications.
OPM said the officer who headed the unit has been replaced and the unit itself re-organized and re-named the Transnational Crime Narcotics Division.
According to OPM, since then, there has been full and active cooperation between Jamaica and Cuba on counter-narcotics surveillance and interdiction.
The Government says no further concern has been expressed by officials of the Cuban government.
Nelson defends JA's anti-drug trafficking efforts
Meanwhile, National Security Minister Senator Dwight Nelson has defended Jamaica's anti-drug trafficking efforts after criticism contained in the Wikileaks report.
According to one cable, Jamaica's counter-drug initiatives have been so sluggish that exasperated Cuban officials complained privately about their frustrations to an American drug enforcement official.
However, Senator Nelson says the levels of cooperation with Cuba against drug trafficking have improved significantly, after what he has described as a minor setback.
He adds that the dissatisfaction expressed by Havana related to a police unit that failed to respond appropriately to communication from its Cuban counterpart.
Senator Nelson adds that in recent times "the cooperation has been so good between Cuba and Jamaica that the dialogue has led to the arrest and conviction of a number of persons in Cuba on drug trafficking charges".
Not long ago, many Zimbabweans in search of fertile ground for a diversity of foreign musicians looked up to Johannesburg, South Africa.
With the advent of the 2010 World Cup, South Africa became the envy of many Zimbabweans. This was so when it was announced that The Black Eyed Peas, Shakira, Alicia Keys and John Legend were some of the stars performing at the inaugural Fifa World Cup Kickoff Celebration Concert at Orlando Stadium, Soweto, on June 10.
The concert was being billed as the greatest entertainment event to be held on the African continent, and was broadcast to over a billion people in 92 countries.
The price of tickets ranged from R200 to R500. In an economy like that of South Africa, this was affordable and Orlando Stadium had full capacity audience.
Zimbabwe, despite a weaker economy, is however slowly turning the tables as big name artistes such as Akon and Sean Paul are slowly trickling into the country.
Sean Paul proclaimed that Zimbabwe was a concert country and is looking forward to having some reggae sunsplashes here.
As more and more reggae and dancehall artistes make a beeline to Zimbabwe, one begins to wonder what the sudden attraction is.
Since 2009, after the introduction of the multi-currency system in the country, foreign artistes have found Zimbabwe once again attractive for doing business as anyone can trade throughout the world with the US dollar without hassles. The universal regard for money is the one hopeful fact in modern civilisation and artistes, just like diamond traders, will travel anywhere to get it. As George Bernard Shaw put it many years ago, “Lack of money is the root of all evil”, because all evils, be it robbery, adultery, theft, prostitution, fraud, bribery and other bad practices are motivated by the need to make money.
On the other hand, money is the most important thing in the world. It represents health, strength, power, honour, generosity and beauty. If one has money, he can solve many problems.
Music promoters bring in foreign artistes with the hope of attracting large audiences who will in turn spin such projects into money-making ventures.
These promoters try hard to be careful, proficient and efficient because of the big financial risks involved.
The amount of groundwork required before a show is put on is quite phenomenal and often requires a considerable amount of financial backing.
The business begins with choosing popular acts which the promoter feels will draw large crowds of people. After contracts have been signed, there is a lot of bureaucracy that has to be attended to. The artistes themselves end up in Zimbabwe due to the attraction of money. The cost of staging a concert with an international artiste ranges from US$20 000 to US$2 million depending on the popularity of the artiste.
Usually, the music promoter will pay the artiste 10 to 15 percent of that budget for two hours’ performance.
Foreign artistes who have cashed in on performances in Zimbabwe from the beginning of 2010 include Sizzla Kalonje, Yassus Afari, Sean Paul, Brick and Lace, Beenie Man and King Sounds — all from Jamaica.
Other artistes included Freshly Ground and Hugh Masekela from South Africa; Salif Keita from Mali and Akon from the USA.
In two weeks’ time, Zimbabwe will be playing host to another dancehall artiste from Jamaica, Capleton, who will close the year 2010 with two concerts to be held in Harare and Chitungwiza. But that is not the end of musical entertainment in Zimbabwe as more and more artistes are lined up for 2011. Macka B, the Jamaican singer and social commentator, is lined up for a performance in Zimbabwe at the end of March 2011.
Twenty-year-old American rapper Sean Kingston has used YouTube to announce a planned tour of Zimbabwe in the New Year. Kingston, who shot to fame in 1997 with his smash hit, “Beautiful Girls (Suicidal)”, says in the video that he will perform in Harare on April 23.
I do not believe the promoters who arranged the concerts in 2010 made any money, some due to lack of experience or by simply being egocentric, others due to sheer arrogance and reluctance to engage known experts in the game.
There was a time when a fool and his money were soon parted, but nowadays it seems to be happening to every Zimbabwean music promoter. Imagine an artiste like Beyonce, Whitney Houston, Black Eyed Peas, R. Kelly or Usher coming to Zimbabwe next year. The promoter goes around boasting to all his admirers that he is bringing so and so. The budget for such a concert would be around US$2 million.
The obvious choice of venue would be the National Sports Stadium. Let’s say, the stadium is filled to its full capacity of 60 000. Charging concert goers US$20 each to attend it in this economy is considered a bit over the top, but assuming that everyone pays, some US$1 200 000 will be realised, making a loss of US$800 000, yet the promoter still goes ahead and makes such plans. When will he learn?
My dear, my very dear promoter, on this thread full of incoherence, your tortured accounts and what amounts to no more than gloating, your thread is not a beacon of reason and light. Knowledge can be communicated to you, but not wisdom.
I am not trying to discourage future promoters of musical events, but all I am stating is that there is a need to plan carefully before jumping on the bandwagon.
Just because you have been able to speak to R. Kelly is no reason for excitement and then begin to yield to his ridiculous demands. Some of these artistes have got clever managers who will put forward all sorts of conditions which you will only realise at a later stage that you neither have the experience nor the skills to even hold a concert for a bunch of drunkards at a local beer garden.
I do not feel obliged to believe that the Almighty who has endowed all of us with sense, wisdom, reason and intellect, has intended us to forgo their use. It is one thing to interpret your dreams into silver and gold, but one needs to tread very carefully the path that he follows to achieve this goal. Zimbabwe, unlike South Africa, does not have the concert-going population to warrant a budget of US$2 million.
The economy here forces promoters to charge US$20 or less for fans to attend an international concert as evidenced by the recent Real Deal show where only a handful reluctantly paid US$100 to be in the golden circle. In South Africa a VIP ticket costs R500 (about US$75) and hundreds of people
To say that when Zimbabwean promoters dream, they are not conscious, is to speak loosely. Come on guys, you can make this country the hub of musical entertainment if you try harder. You have read my case, and if you are not wiser than when it started, you must be at least better informed now. Nuff said.
Buju got what he wanted, the next thing is that people are wondering if Ninja Man could enjoy the same kind of luck, bail and the chance to be on the biggest one night show on earth. As Bob Marley says, Time Will Tell.
Bwoy since the news broke that Buju will be hitting the stage on January 16, it seems as if the date can't come soon enough for his fans. Yes man it's all the buzz on the streets. Yardflex sources say the way they are behaving it's as if they have never seen Buju perform before!
For real though it should be something to see.
God's love gently heals all.
Just as a child in pain seeks the comforting lap of his mother or father, so I come to God in prayer if I am in need of healing. In the silence, I am reassured that I am God's beloved child, created in the image and likeness of the Divine. Even in dark moments, I am not afraid. I behold the light of the Christ Spirit within me and any fear is dispelled.
Throughout my body--every tissue, every muscle--I feel the healing energy of God. Like a tender touch easing any pain, God's healing love presses into every cell, infusing it with Life. I gratefully accept the love of God and the compassionate care of others, knowing that every loving gesture is a channel for divine healing.
He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds. --Psalm 147:3
Before Diddy there was P-Diddy there was Puffy. Before that there was Puff Daddy. Before that even there was Sean Combs. What was little Sean running from that he had to change his name so many times? I’m guessing it was this picture.
9. Pharell Williams
Looking like a Samurai with an erasure head haircut, Pharell Williams proved to everyone in the business that stylists are indeed an important part of being famous. It’s just too bad he went from looking like the offspring of Godzilla and Papermate to dressing a little like the Joker.
If anyone ever looked like they didn’t want to be somewhere it was young master Carter here in his (??) graduation picture. Jay-Z never finished high school, so this was as close as we could get to a graduation picture. Maybe he graduated from elementary school and grandma sprang for some pics? Maybe the face is because Jay-Z himself was a little confused by the cap and gown.
Ranked in one of the Top 10 Most Likable Stoners of All-Time it’s hard to imagine Snoop looking clean cut- but here is it. This is photo graphic evidence that Snoop Dogg actually did not spring forth from a sensimilla bud and onto MP3 players around the world. He looks a little like he just won a science fair somewhere.
I’ve had debates about things in the past that had no bearing on anything. One of these is why little Marshal Mathers was so pissed off. Looking a little like the illegitimate son of Sylvester Stallone might have something to do with it. Yo Adrian!
5. Kanye West
Voted most likely to be someone- everyone shakes their head at. Kanye West spent most of his high school career snatching the chalk from teacher’s hands and giving sermons in class. “I don mean no disrespect or nuthin… but Columbus was whack. E’rybody knows that Magellian was the dopest explorer of all time!!!”
T.I. looks like the cover of a cereal box. Seriously. “It’s good for you and tastes good too.” His recent prison stint was neither kid tested nor mother approved however. Look for him to break out big(ger) in the future. I predict bigger things from this guy than we’ve seen from him so far even…. huge.
3. Ice Cube
“I’ll tumble for ya… I’ll tumble for ya… I’ll tumble for ya I’ll tumble for you”. Or wait wait… “Feel the beat of the rythm of the night…”
2. 50 Cent
50 Cent (pronounced Fiddy-Cen) looked like the kind of kid that you just couldn’t trust. IN FACT he looks like the kid that stole my bike.
1. Lil Jon
“How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop?” You can ask Mr. Owl or Lil John. Late bloomers with latent smooth potential… bet NO ONE saw it coming.
Despite declarations from Isaiah Laing and Supreme Promotions that there will be no clash at Sting 2010, there are some artistes who seem hell-bent on defying that directive.
There have been talks of a lyrical war brewing between female deejays Reggae Queen and DJ Face, both of whom are listed in the exciting 13 Bad Girls of Sting segment on the annual Boxing Day show. Following a face-off of sorts at the Sting Poster Launch recently, the two deejays now have something to prove. It was agreed that Reggae Queen upset the night when she got the upper hand of DJ Face, but on the weekend, at a stage-show in Clarendon, it was Face who had the slight advantage.
The event was emceed by popular dancehall personality, Nuffy, who says he is the official trainer of young deejay, Reggae Queen.
“I am now training Reggae Queen,” Nuffy explained. “I have watched her work and I know she has the lyrics. It will be for me to groom her for the upcoming lyrical showdown at Sting. Remember that I did the same thing with Lisa Hype,” he added.
When reminded that the theme for this year’s Sting is The Collaboration, Nuffy brushed it aside. “Yeah man, you have all different types of collaboration,” he stated.
DJ Face has claimed bragging rights from the Clarendon show, even posting her victory as her recent Facebook status. But Reggae Queen is not quivering. “I have already ordered the coffin for DJ Face. I used two sentences and killed her at Sting Poster Launch … the other night in Clarendon she made a big thing about it being her place, but still yet is she get the first boo. But the crowd is like that. Them boo you this minute and the next minute you and dem is best of friends. But she will have to come better than that for Sting,” Reggae Queen said.
Sting 2010 is shaping up to deliver another exciting chapter of this reggae dancehall show that has stood the test of time and can easily brag about its 27 non-stop years of existence.
Come Boxing Day, Sunday December 26, the Sting stage will be set up to accommodate adversaries-turned–friends, Beenie Man and Bounty Killer, two of the headline acts on this year’s event. They will be performing tune-for-tune together on stage in what promises to be an exciting segment called ‘The 13 Warriors of Sting’.
According to Supreme Promotions, the organizers of the event, which has the tag line ‘the greatest one-night reggae dancehall show on earth’, the unity being shown in the music business among some artistes is praiseworthy.
“We are happy for the wind of change sweeping through the dancehall right now. Some people feel that the friendship among former dancehall rivals make the music boring, but we love it,” Isaiah Laing of Supreme Promotions has declared.
Both Beenie Man and Bounty Killer have extensive catalogues dating back to the early nineties and their rivalry throughout the decades has provided some of the highest highs and lowest lows in dancehall history. But come Sunday, December 26, Jamworld Entertainment Centre in Portmore, St Catherine, will witness a one-of-a-kind offering, the likes of which has never unfolded on that historic Sting stage.
“Bounty Killer and Beenie Man together on a Sting stage and is not a clash vibes? Who did ever know seh that could happen?” Beenie Man asked.
“Yeah man, we have di programme set and we a go entertain the whole a Jamworld cause we know seh Jamworld a go full up a people. After we dun perform on stge Laing haffi pay we some more money,” the deejay who calls himself the King of the dancehall stated.
The Government finally breaks its silence on the controversial WikiLeaks report that Jamaica was uncooperative in the drug fight in the region. The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) says investigations by the national security minister confirm that in 2009 concern was expressed by officials of the Cuban Ministry of the Interior about the failure of the unit within the police force to adequately respond to communication from its Cuban counterpart.
The OPM says the officer who headed that unit and who had been assigned in 2006 was replaced and the unit was reorganised and renamed the Transnational Crime Narcotics Division.
It says since then, there has been full and active cooperation between Jamaica and Cuba on counter-narcotics surveillance and interdiction and no concern has been expressed by officials of the Cuban government.

The internet has been going crazy with the latest released photos of a pre-Barbie Nicki Minaj in some pictures hugged up with another female. Reports are saying that this woman in the pictures is Nicki’s first girlfriend and the woman who turned her out.
Well Big Man Konata from Power 107.5 in Columbus Ohio got the exclusive interview with the person in question, DJ Soraya.
Did she really turn Nicki out? And has she been with other female artists?
It’s official…Mariah Carey is pregnant with twins. A few weeks ago Mariah Carey referred to her unborn child as ‘they’, and the rumour that she was having twins has refused to go away.
Proud daddy Nick Cannon was getting into the holiday spirit at a Build-a-Bear Workshop benefiting the Toys for Tots Foundation where he was handing out toys. E! News asked Nick to clear up the “twin” rumors and here’s what he had to say:
Tyrese has had it with all the media whores. He took to his Twitter account to express his feelings on the recent uprise in fake celebrity couples.
And we see where he’s coming from. From Kanye and Selita Ebanks to Kanye and Kim Kardashian, from Amber Rose and Fabolous to Amber Rose and Reggie Bush, it’s hard to tell what relationships are real and which are made for the public eye.
Here’s what Tyrese had to say:
“If you try and build, develop, and mold your relationship on a PUBLIC STAGE… You will welcome the spirit of opinion and it could KILL it. Love is beautiful when it’s defined and nurtured ALONE… Then when you GO PUBLIC.. What you have built PRIVATELY can’t be AFFECTED!!
Media whores become desperate for PUBLIC APPROVAL.. People with class and tact fall back and DISCOVER .. Love is beautiful when it’s real.
Only on their second date.. And already on the red carpet kissing and making out? Well, well.. Good luck buddy!!
I wanna be CLEAR.. I’m not saying people should NOT live their lives and have fun!! But there are PLENTY of restaurants that don’t have Papz
Truth be told.. There are a LOT of the media whores who actually CALL THE PAPZ and tell them where they are going.. Desperate anyone?
I’m a very private man who happens to live a very private life. My privacy is all I OWN. I give a lot of me to the world but not EVERYTHING!”
Manufacturing company Wisynco says it will not increase the prices of its energy drinks, Red Bull, Boom and Full Throttle.
The company made the disclosure following the 15% tax on energy drinks, announced yesterday by Finance Minister Audley Shaw.
Managing Director of Wisynco, William Mahfood, told IRIE FM News that his company would go as far as absorbing price increase, instead of passing them on to consumers.

Twenty four year old Keifa Ogilvie, son of well known West Kingston area leader, Justin Ogilvie, has been charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Mr. Ogilvie was charged by detectives at the Kingston Central Police Station on Tuesday and is booked to appear in court next week.
He was arrested on Saturday after he was held in possession of a Taurus pistol and 26 rounds of ammunition.
It is reported that shortly after 4:00p.m., Mr. Ogilvie was driving a motorcycle in downtown Kingston, when he was signalled to stop by members of a police party.
He reportedly disobeyed the order and rode off with the police in pursuit.
The cops intercepted him along Blake Road, near South Camp Road.
Mr. Ogilvie was searched, and the Taurus pistol and ammunition were reportedly found in his possession.
He is currently before the court on an assault charge.
He is charged jointly with Tesha Miller, reputed head of the Klansman Gang, with assaulting a policeman while in custody, during the State of Emergency.

God's grace flows in and through me.
When we notice the poise in another, we may say, "She did that with such grace." Or, "He showed such grace in that situation." What we see in another is what is also present in ourselves through our connection with Spirit.
As I respond to a situation with compassion and understanding, I, too, am expressing God's grace. I am allowing the holiness within me to surface and to flow effortlessly from me. As I embrace adversity, remain strong under pressure or look for the good in a difficult situation, I am acknowledging that all is not as it appears. By experiencing all things with love, I draw forth the grace of Spirit. The gift of grace is powerful and strong. Grace is part of my being, and I am at peace.
Each of us was given grace according to the measure of Christ's gift.--Ephesians 4:7

NEW YORK — Being a sex symbol has its dangers as Usher learned firsthand at his New York City concert.
The crooner brought an ecstatic female fan onstage Monday night for a serenade of his sensual song "Trading Places" at Madison Square Garden. He sat her on a couch while he caressed her.
Then, after they changed positions, the overexcited fan tried to move her leg to get closer to him. Her stiletto boot heel knocked him in the nose.
The fan tried to smooth things over by massaging Usher's face, but there was no need: Usher wasn't hurt and cracked a joke about it.

I give from the heart.
One of the most touching stories of the Christmas season is that of the "Little Drummer Boy." It is a reminder of the simple act of giving. In this story, the young boy gives of himself and his talent--he plays his drum for the baby Jesus. He shares all he has in a simple way and with a sharing spirit from the heart.
The simple things in life are often the most meaningful. Like the little drummer boy who gave of himself so beautifully, I can give of myself to others.
My gift need not be elaborate, but it is heart-centered and freely given. I offer the gift of my time, attention and talents--whatever they may be. As I do, a simple blessing is given and received.
For the measure you give will be the measure you get back.--Luke 6:38
The status of Ja Rule’s freedom could be determined this week as the rapper is nearing trial for a July 2007 gun possession charge in Manhattan, New York.
According to MTV News, Ja Rule reached a plea deal with prosecutors and will serve two years in Jail
Ja Rule was arrested on July 23rd, 2007 after police stopped his $250,000 Maybach for speeding after a concert at the Beacon Theater.
Police also found that the registration on the pricey vehicle was suspended and had no insurance.
According to the Associated Press, the smell of marijuana gave police a reason to search the vehicle. Ja Rule was arrested when a.40 caliber semiautomatic handgun in the rear driver’s side door was found.
The judge has already thrown out Ja Rule’s statement that he had weed on him and he wasn’t charged with drug possession, bolstering the defense’ argument that the search was illegal.
Ja Rule is facing up to four years in prison under New York’s tough anti-gun laws, which have sidelined other stars, like Lil Wayne and NFL star Plaxico Burress.
Lil Wayne cannot do any drugs or liquor as part of the terms of his three-year probation for drug and gun possession in Arizona, but that has not deterred drug dealers from naming deadly narcotics after him.
The superstar rapper’s name was associated with a $250 million drug bust that yielded 500 bricks of heroin.
Newark, NJ police officers found the bricks of the drug hidden in a side panel of an SUV with the bricks and the packets of the drug packaged for sale under the name “Lil Wayne.”
A police dog was called in to search the SUV and the dog helped find a sophisticated special compartment shut by a latch with a special motor, custom designed to deal the drugs.

According to a story in the Star
pressure from the police who demand that tints be removed from coaster buses, has now led to students to seek another mode of transportation which will accommodate their lewd acts, which includes a 'no panty' day when female students wear no underwear while travelling with their peers on the new-found source of 'joyrides'.br>

In Half-Way Tree, St Andrew, others spoke of the smutty activities which the students are said to be partaking in on the buses. It was said that they travel in groups and flock the back of the bus.
It is there that they carry on with their antics and in cases are said to even have sex, or come pretty close to it. Despite no music being on the buses, the the students carry on as if they are in a dancehall venue, wining and grinding on each other while singing the latest dancehall songs, some of which are not fit for airplay.
"A crazy thing wi hear a gwaan pon di JUTC bus dem ya now. A pure crew a lock di bus dem so nobody else cyaa go roun' a di back. A roun' a di back dem gwaan wid dem nastiness. My life is unfolding exactly as it should.
As I awaken to the Presence within me, I become aware of how my life is unfolding moment by moment in divine order. Each event is part of the whole and important to the divine direction of my life.
If I perceive a setback or a wrong turn, I consider my options. I can "go with the flow" and see what comes next or I can attempt to change course. I center my thoughts on Spirit and invite the faculties of wisdom and inspiration to guide me. I choose to trust my inner wisdom.
I give thanks for unexpected developments that awaken me to the Presence within. Each one brings me greater awareness of divine order in my life and in all I experience.
He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.--2 Corinthians 5:5

If you haven’t seen Matt Kemp and Rihanna coupled up lately, I think I know why…Rumor has it the relationship is over. Apparently there’s been a lot of cheating on both sides and the couple have called it quits.
Rihanna: I Could Be Pregnant A Year From Now
With Kemp partying in his off-season, and Rihanna traveling the globe promoting her music, the two slowly drifted apart..Kemp’s penchant for clubbing was also partly to blame for the demise of their relationship.

The Clarendon Police say preliminary investigations suggest that a group of men, who were linked to Saturday night's shootout in the Hayes community, are believed to be from Old Harbour in St. Catherine.
Superintendent Dathan Henry, Commanding Officer for the Clarendon Police Division, says the police are determined to prevent migrant criminals from seeking refuge in the parish.
"Criminals were given a previous warning not to come in to the parish and commit crimes however; they failed to heed the warning and continue to test the resilience of the police. We will continue to be vigilant and given last night's incident, we will be more vigilant in keeping them out of the parish," he said.
The senior policeman's assessment follows Saturday night's reported gun battle between police from the Division and gunmen in Hayes which left an alleged gunman dead and two police vehicles extensively damaged.
The policemen had responded to a report from a motorist that gunmen had held him up and robbed him of his laptop computer.
The car with the alleged gunmen was later intercepted, and during a reported shoot-out, one of its occupants was shot and injured.
He was died at hospital
Investigators say his accomplices fled.

I share the power of prayer with my universal family.
As I pray for others, I experience the goodness of God. Holding thoughts of peace, love, wholeness or safety for another gives me peace. I experience firsthand the power of affirmative prayer.
I needn't know the details of the situation for which I pray. The One within me is within all people. I trust the Holy Spirit within to discern what another heart needs.
When I am facing a difficult situation, when I feel sad, or when I need to be reminded that I am not alone, I allow the prayers of my universal family to channel into my heart and soul.
Praying for others is one of the most powerful ways to love one another. I am blessed to be part of the family of God.
Whatever you ask for in prayer with faith, you will receive.--Matthew 21:22
I open my heart to the all-powerful love of God.
The love of God is a powerful force for good. Divine love mends differences, creates joy and opens hearts and lives to unlimited blessings.
Love is the foundation of all unity. Where love is, there can be no differences, separation or inharmony. Divine love allows us to hold to the truth that only good is at work and that only good prevails.
Love is "the fulfilling of the law," the assurance that there is something greater to experience, something more to enjoy. Love is magnetic. It draws to itself every good thing.
I am developing a love consciousness. I feel divine love at work within me now, causing me to see myself and others in the right light, the light of love.
Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore, love is the fulfilling of the law.--Romans 13:10
My faith in God sustains and uplifts me.
From time to time, the media cover disturbing local or global events. But my faith in God need not be shaken. I know God is there for me and for all members of the human race as a constant support and guide. Whatever the situation, God is directing us to our highest good.
My faith does not depend on outward conditions. Rather, my faith is grounded in the perfection of God. With faith-filled focus, my courage and peace are unshakable, no matter the situation.
God is present in everyone and everything. I trust that right outcomes are unfolding in divine order. My faith lifts my spirits, strengthens my resolve and fills my heart with love and expectancy.
As it is written, "The one who is righteous will live by faith."--Romans 1:17
Keri Hilson is on the promo circuit and hit up “Chelsea Lately” last night to plug her “No Boys Allowed.” Handler asked Hilson why she won’t date rappers? Hilson broke it down like this:
“When you mix a man who has popularity, who has money, who has b*tches, that’s a scary thing for me. It doesn’t speak to my insecurities, it’s just not the type of man that I want and I think I’m not the type of girl they want. I have a brain, I’m a little more than they bargained for.”

Close to 200 police officers have been booted from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) for their involvement in corrupt activities since the start of the year.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Justin Felice, who is in charge of the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB), made the disclosure Thursday afternoon as he provided details on the forces anti-corruption strategies.
The revelation coincided with activities marking International Corruption Day.
ACP Felice said the arrests and dismissals are a major plank of the JCF's three-year anti-corruption strategy.
"One of those strategies is a cleansing programme to rid the organisation of officers who act unethically, corruptly, or who are not displaying the professionalism required of the JCF. To date, from January, 184 police officers have been removed from the organization, majority of whom have been refused re-enlistment," he said
ACP Felice also revealed that of the total number, 133 JCF members were not permitted to re-enlist; while 28 were retired in the public interest.
Twenty-three police officers were dismissed as a result of their involvement in corruption activities.
A further breakdown for the 11-month period reveals that 56 members of the force were arrested with 35 subsequently charged.
At the same time, 83 civilians were charged for breaches of the Anti-Corruption Act with 48 arrests.
Thirty-five JCF employees were also charged for corruption since the start of the year.
According to ACP Felice, while there could have been more arrests the results show that the war against corruption is on in earnest.
"I think we still need to do a lot more as the JCF but as the promotions process goes through, which I'm apart of, looking at some of the people going through, I'm encouraged by what I see. I can see that the managers are endorsing the fight against corruption in the organisation and the unethical behaviour which has tainted the force for some years. But we can't turn around the lack of investment and a lack of training and education over the last 30, 40 years, straight away, so it's going to take a long time but I'm encouraged and I know the Police Commissioner is encouraged by the progress we've made so far," ACP Felice said.
But a wha really a gwaan a Portmore. Unno nuh ketch di news how police a search fi bodies on a property there.

It is believed that they could contain the bodies of persons who have recently disappeared in the area.

Two Lift Time Achiever Awards will replace the Chairman Award at next month's Jamaican Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year Awards ceremony.
However, the highlight of the January 21 event will be the naming of the Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year, to be headed by Usain Bolt and Veronica Campbell-Brown.
Joining Bolt in the male category are Nesta Carter, Lerone Clarke, Asafa Powell, Jermaine Gonzales, Dorian Scott, skier Errol Kerr, along with cricketers Chris Gayle and Brendon Nash.

The Trelawny native is joined by Alia Atkinson, Sheree Francis the high jump silver medal winner in New Delhi, two time Commonwealth triple jump champion Tricia Smith, Kaliese Spencer winner of the Diamond League 400m hurdles crown, cricketer Stafanie Taylor and continental cup 400m hurdles winner Nickiesha Wilson.
Campbell-Brown, Carter, Keamar Daley of Tivoli Gardens FC, Gayle, Gonzales and jockey Georgina Sergeon are also nominated for the People's Choice Awards.
NEW YORK, USA (AP) — Oprah Winfrey says she's not a lesbian, not even a little bit.
Her long personal and professional connection with Gayle King has sparked rumours that they are gay, but Winfrey denies it in a-soon-to-be-aired interview with ABC television's Barbara Walters.
"I'm not even kind of a lesbian," Winfrey says.
Persistent gossip to the contrary annoys her, she says, explaining that, if it were true, "Why would you want to hide it? That is not the way I run my life."
Asked to describe her relationship with King, Winfrey calls her "the mother I never had, the sister everybody would want. She is the friend that everybody deserves". Winfrey's eyes moisten and her voice chokes as she adds, "I don't know a better person."
Winfrey will end her daytime talk show next spring and, on January 1, is launching a cable channel, the Oprah Winfrey Network.
That new venture has given her moments of panic.
"I would wake up in the middle of the night literally like clutching my chest, like, 'What have I done?'" she tells Walters.
Ten year old Willow Smith became a star overnight thanks to her incredibly infectious single “Whip My Hair.”
That quick trajectory into the stratosphere is starting to take its toll on the young star.
She says that though she describes her new found fame as “awesome,” she’s already starting to feel like the success is coming at the expense of her childhood in an interview with NME magazine.
“The hardest part is wanting to hang out with your friends when you have to work,” she says. “My friends will come over and you’re recording and you’re like, ‘Pleeease let me go with my friends. I don’t wanna stay here!’ but people are relying on you.”
We hope her parents recognize this and allow her to have as much of a normal childhood as possible despite her increasing star power!
Wow, that was fast…Kim Kardashian has dumped Halle’s ex-Gabriel Aubry for another ball player (and this time it’s not a football player). The reality star is reportedly dating New Jersey Nets player Kris Humphries.
PEOPLE is confirming that the two have already gone their separate ways.
“They still talk,” says a source close to the duo. “They were getting to know each other, but realized they might be better off just being friendly.”
Kardashian, who has made no secret of her fun and flirty outlook and single status, was ready to move on and get back into the dating game.
The two have been seen in the New York area a number of times. Kardashian watched Humphries’ Nets play in Newark on November 29th; the pair were spotted at a bar in Hoboken on December 5th; and they dined at Nobu in New York City recently, as well.
When those words came across Bow Wow’s Twitter account, people worldwide immediately expressed concern that the rapper was suicidal, however in an interview with WKYS-FM 93.9 in Washington, DC, he says that his words weren’t meant to imply that he wanted to take his own life.
Bow Wow says that the tweet was misunderstood and that he felt that the only way he would find any peace would be when he was dead.
Hmm… We’ll have to take his word for it. Next time Shad, choose your words a bit better. You’re a rapper. You know how important word choice is!
After undergoing surgery for an unreported illness last week, many people feared the worst for Aretha Franklin’s health.
The singer, who earlier this year cancelled all concerts through May 2011 due to “medical reasons,” came out of surgery in good spirits according to her publicist.
However, the National Enquirer is reporting that the Queen of Soul is fighting pancreatic cancer, a disease that claims the life of 90-95% of those who are unfortunate enough to receive the diagnosis.
While the Enquirer may have the history of being a tabloid, the publication was the first to report on actor Patrick Swayze’s battle with pancreatic cancer, which he lost in 2009, as well as actress Christina Applegate’s battle with breast cancer in 2008.
Detroit’s Fox affiliate, Fox 2, has confirmed that Franklin was diagnosed with cancer. Her family says that she is doing “OK” at the present time.
Our prayers are with Aretha, and we anxiously await the day that we hear that she’s been given a clean bill of health.

Let's see how this one will play out, maybe liquor lovers had better brace themselves for drinking less this Christmas. Come to think of it maybe that's not such a bad thing after all.
It all started in Sherwood, Content in Trelawny and our home boy Usain Bolt won't be forgetting that any time soon. To show how committed he is to his hometown the the big wig in athletics has ensured that the health centre in his community is now operational after undergoing a major renovation costing nearly $4 million.
Bolt, the most famous native of the community, used all the proceeds from his 9.58 party held in St Ann last year to help pay for the repairs of the clinic. It has been closed since May as a result of its dilapidated state.
The triple Olympic and World gold medallist partnered with the Trelawny Health Department, the People Co-operative Bank, Sagicor, Digicel, Capital Credit Security, United Way and Sherwin-Williams.
The track star was quoted at the opening as saying: "To give back to the community is always an honour... I remember back in the days I was a troublemaker so I got a lot of cuts — and some pretty bad ones. I remembered Miss Pansy, she used to work here and live across the road, she used to dress most of my cuts," Bolt remarked...
Magnum Tonic Wine and Stone Love, two leading brands in dancehall, have extended their strategic partnership for another year following a successful three year relationship.
"We are really happy to continue with Magnum,"explained Stone Love founder Winston 'Wee Pow' Powell. "Our first major event under the new contract is the upcoming Stone Love 38th Anniversary Party in Portmore on December 18."Well you can all look out for more from these two top entities.
I envision only the best for my life.
Just as a child imagines opening gifts on Christmas morning, my imagination is the springboard for creating my reality. As I imagine an activity, a goal being accomplished or a positive encounter with another person, I set the stage for results that bless me and bless others. My mind and my imagination help build the life of my dreams.
Since doubt and worry are a misuse of my power of imagination, I choose instead to expect the best from myself and from others. I envision life bringing good--all the good I need and enough to share. I live in a world of infinite possibilities. Visualizing a positive future prepares me to make those possibilities reality. Spurred by the power of my imagination, I make my dreams come true.
For all the land that you see I will give to you.--Genesis 13:15

More than 20 Oxbridge colleges made no offers to black candidates for undergraduate courses last year and one Oxford college has not admitted a single black student in five years, according to a report posted by the UK Guardian newspaper on its website Monday.
The Guardian story, which described the disclosure as "a bleak portrait of racial and social exclusion at Oxford and Cambridge" also said that only one black Briton of Caribbean descent was accepted for undergraduate study at Oxford last year.
"Figures revealed in requests made under the Freedom of Information (FoI) Act by the Labour MP David Lammy also show that Oxford's social profile is 89 per cent upper- and middle-class, while 87.6 per cent of the Cambridge student body is drawn from the top three socioeconomic groups," the Guardian story said. "The average for British universities is 64.5 per cent, according to the admissions body Ucas."
According to the Guardian, the FoI data also show that of more than 1,500 academic and lab staff at Cambridge, none are black, while 34 are of British Asian origin.
"One Oxford college, Merton, has admitted no black students in five years -- and just three in the last decade," said the Guardian story. "Eleven Oxford colleges and 10 Cambridge colleges made no offers to black students for the academic year beginning autumn 2009."
The newspaper noted that Oxford's breakdown of its latest undergraduate admissions figures, published on its website, shows that just one black Caribbean student was accepted in 2009, out of 35 applications.
The Guardian also reported that a total of 77 students of Indian descent were accepted, out of 466 applications, and six black Caribbean under-graduates were accepted at Cambridge the same year.
"In advance of a crucial Commons vote on Thursday, ministers have said universities that want to charge students up to £9,000 a year in fees will face fresh targets on widening access to applicants from disadvantaged backgrounds," said the Guardian story. "Oxford and Cambridge, which are expected to charge the maximum fee, say they are keen to recruit the brightest students from all backgrounds. Both have programmes to encourage applications from state school students, and those from black and working-class backgrounds."
However, according to the Guardian, the FoI data show white students were more likely to be successful than black applicants at every Cambridge college except St Catharine's, where black candidates have had a 38 per cent success rate, compared with 30 per cent for white students.
"The starkest divide in Cambridge was at Newnham, an all-women's college, where black applicants had a 13 per cent success rate compared with 67 per cent for white students," the newspaper reported. "The data for Oxford tell a similar story: at Jesus College white candidates were three-and-a-half times more successful than black candidates over an 11-year period. Oxford says the figures are too low for the variation between colleges to be statistically significant."
The Guardian said that the most selective universities argued that poor attainment at school level narrows the pool from which candidates can be drawn. But black candidates are more likely to apply to elite universities.
"In 2009, more than 29,000 white students got three As or better at A-level (excluding general studies) and about 28.4 per cent applied to Oxford; while 452 black students got three As or better, and nearly half applied to Oxford," said the report.
The Guardian quoted a spokeswoman for Oxford as saying "Black students apply disproportionately for the most oversubscribed subjects, contributing to a lower than average success rate for the group as a whole: 44 per cent of all black applicants apply for Oxford's three most oversubscribed subjects, compared with just 17 per cent of all white applicants. That means nearly half of black applicants are applying for the same three subjects... the three toughest subjects to get places in. Those subjects are economics and management, medicine, and maths with seven per cent of white applicants. This goes a very long way towards explaining the group's overall lower success rate."
According to the Guardian, Berkeley also argued that black students do not lack aspiration, but the opportunity to get into the most prestigious universities. "Of the black Caribbean students getting straight As at A-level, the vast majority apply to Oxbridge.... those who do choose to apply have a much lower success rate [than white applicants]. One in five, in comparison with one in three for white students," the newspaper quoted Berkeley. "That doesn't seem to have shifted for the last 15 years."
The newspaper also quoted Matthew Benjamin, a 28-year-old who studied geography at Jesus College, Oxford, as saying: "I was very aware that I was the only black student in my year at my college. I was never made to feel out of place, but it was certainly something I was conscious of.
"When I arrived and they wanted to do a prospectus, and have some students on the cover, they chose me, and one other Asian guy and another guy from Thailand. It was clear they wanted to project this image of somewhere that was quite diverse. The reality was very different — there were three [minority] ethnic students in a year.
"On open days, some black kids would see me and say 'you're the only black person we've seen here -- is it even worth us applying?'"
A spokesman for Cambridge told the Guardian that 15 per cent of students accepted last year were from minority ethnic backgrounds. "Over the five years to 2009, entry black students accounted for 1.5 per cent of admissions to Cambridge, compared with 1.2 per cent of degree applicants nationally who secure AAA at A-level. Colleges make offers to the best and brightest students regardless of their background, and where variations exist this is due to supply of applications and demand by subject."
A St. Catherine Deaconess is being sought by the police in connection with a Ponzi scheme which operated at her church.
Maria Drummond, 56, who is a member of a Portmore church, is charged with fraudulent conversion amounting to thousands of dollars.
Drummond was to appear in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday to answer theses charges, but she failed to show up prompting the Senior Resident Magistrate Marsha Dunbar Green to issue the warrant for her immediate arrest.
The court was told that in 2007, the deaconess collected US$7,000 from a man and told him that the money would be invested in a Ponzi scheme at her church.
When the man was not given any returns on his money he went to the police.
Mrs. Drummond was then arrested and charged.

The Ity & Fancy Cat Show Live will take over the Wyndham Kingston ballroom on Sunday, December 26, as a part of the Christmas Comedy Cook-Up.
The seventh staging of the annual comedy extravaganza will see two shows on the day, one at 5 p.m. and the other at 8:30 p.m.
Ellis international says comedy fans and lovers of high-quality entertainment can look forward to an evening of laughter blended with music and dance in a smooth, slick production conceptualised and directed by veteran comeian, writer and arts educator Owen 'Blakka' Ellis.
Under Mr. Ellis' guidance and mentorship for the past 18 years, Ity & Fancy Cat have grown immensely and their hugely popular television project, the Ity & Fancy Cat Show Live, now in preparation for its fourth season, is also growing into a major international phenomenon with video uploads from the show going viral on the internet.
Sharing stage with the hilariously outrageous duo on December 26 will be ever-popular comedic medic Dr. Michael Abrahams, eccentric crooner of humorous parodies; the crazy Rozah Roze, and Miss 'tan deh deh' phrase, Kathy Grant.
Dancehall deejay Ninja Man is experiencing "Sting jitters."
The veteran entertainer, who is in jail, has revealed that he wants to be out in time for the 2010 staging of the greatest one night show.
However, that decision will be left up to a judge when Ninja Man appears in court on December 15 for another bail hearing.
The artiste, whose given name is Desmond Ballentine, has been behind bars since March, 2009 along with his 20 year old son and two others.
They are facing a number of charges, including murder.
Reggae superstar Sean Paul will not appear in Zambia and Malawi as previously advertised. Fans, in these regions, who were previously promised a show will be disappointed as the promoters have been advertising the artiste in these markets December 17 and 18 respectively, without confirmed bookings. After spending the summer and fall touring the globe, entertaining audiences from Abu Dhabi to Zimbabwe, Sean Paul is back in the studio preparing his highly anticipated new album.
His recent partnership with world-renowned DJ Bob Sinclar for Tik Tok, an infectious dance-reggae track, has been making waves worldwide since its release in November. Sean Paul is also busy in studio working on a single with Grammy winning Damian “Junior Gong” Marley and is actively engaged in his own productions.
With an undeniable track record for crafting hit singles as a solo artiste, including cuts like Deport Them, Like Glue, We Be Burnin and Temperature, as well as a history of taking other artistes songs to the next level through tracks like Beyonce’s Baby Boy, Jay Sean’s Do You Remember and Eve’s Give It Up To You, Sean Paul has established himself as one of the seminal pop voices of his generation.
Dancehall artiste Mavado will not be making an appearance at this year's Sting.
Sting's promoter Isaiah Laing also confirmed this.
"He won't be on the show. I spoke to his manager and he said he would get back to me and he didn't, so we went ahead with the show," he said.
Laing explained that any void left by Mavado will be filled by other artistes on the line-up.
"We have the likes of Sizzla right in the slot there. We don't think it will make a big difference. They (Mavado and Vybz Kartel) won't be clashing and them by themselves won't pull a thousand people," Laing reportedly told the Star.
The promoter said there would be other crowd pullers like the Beenie Man and Bounty Killer collaboration, Sizzla, I-Octane and Khago.
Lady Saw would also be making an appearance after a seven-year absence.
Stressing performances this year, Laing said there would also be a bonus cash award for the artiste who gives the best performance.

I live in full awareness of the presence of God.
In truth I know I am one with God, that I live and move and have my being in God. If I feel separated from this ever-present goodness and love, I examine my thoughts and feelings for resentments that may have become a burden, a barrier to freedom.
I ask the Holy Spirit within me to reveal what needs to be revealed, forgiven and released. I affirm my intention to forgive and ask for God's help: Dear God, I am willing to release feelings of hurt and anger and to live in full awareness of your presence.
Forgiving myself and others frees me to experience ongoing spiritual growth and fullness of life. Maintaining a consciousness of forgiveness, I strive to see everyone as a part of me and as a child of God.
Therefore I do my best always to have a clear conscience toward God and all people.--Acts 24:16
When Diddy hosted a special breast cancer fundraiser on Long Island last month, it seems like someone forgot to brief him on the details.
The event was to benefit the Long Island Plastic Surgical Group Foundation, which does breast-reconstruction and other operations for underprivileged patients, and 1 in 9: The Breast Cancer Action Coalition. Billed as a take-off of Diddy’s legendary “White Party,” at which all attendees must wear all white, attendees were asked to wear a touch of pink in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Apparently Diddy, who was hosting the event, didn’t get that memo as he wasn’t wearing any pink and seemed to be unaware that he was supposed to be.
But that’s not the worst of it.
According to the representatives from the organizations, they haven’t seen any of the money that was raised that evening.
“We never got a penny,” Carolyn Spector, director of the Long Island Plastic Surgical Group Foundation, told the New York Post.
“Nothing was written down, but we were told we would get part of the take,” she said. “The terminology was ‘proceeds from the event.’”
A 1 in 9 staffer says “It’s just a little embarrassing. People say, ‘How much did you raise for your programs?’ And we say, ‘We haven’t seen anything yet.’ ”
Both organizations say that plenty of money was coming in, as attendees were charged $10 at the door, and $1,000 to sit in a special VIP area with Diddy. Spector says that Glo, the club that hosted the event, was packed by 1 am.
A spokesperson for the club says otherwise.
“It was agreed that if there was a profit, a portion of it would be given to the charity,” said Glo spokeswoman Danielle Orsino. “But the night of the event, there was a torrential rainstorm. They expected thousands and only a few hundred showed up. So they lost money.”
Diddy, however, definitely didn’t lose any money. The charities say Diddy left with $80,000. The nightclub says he walked out with a “considerable amount of money.” Diddy refused to comment on how much he made that night.
Diddy also tells the New York Post that he did nothing wrong and doesn’t owe the charities anything.
“I didn’t know what the [club] owner promised — that had nothing to do with me,” Diddy says.
“I had no information about the charity. When the event was booked, it was just for an appearance. I agreed to let him add the charity because I thought it was a good idea.”
Caribbean Cement Company Limited (Carib Cement) says the cost of redundancy carried out in the third quarter of its financial year was $93 million.
The company made the disclosure in its recently published financial statements; but did not say how much workers were affected by the cost cutting measure.
According to the cement manufacturer, the redundancy exercise was part of the cost reduction programme implemented in the wake of massive losses due to reduced demand for its products.
Volume sales were down 17% in the first nine months of the year, but with increased prices, the value of cement sales fell 11% to $6.1 billion.
That along with massive losses forced Carib Cement to borrow $1.1 billion from its parent company, Trinidad Cement Company Limited.
However, Carib Cement noted that the borrowing is unsustainable and so it decided to implement the cost cutting measures which affected staff levels.
2011 will be a good year for the popular energy drink Red Bull as construction on its modern $25 million recording studio and loft in Kingston should be complete.
The Haining Road-based studio should open in February and will be a very modern and environmentally friendly facility, according to Wisynco, local distributors for Red Bull, which will operate the studio on behalf of the label.
Wisynco is lamenting the fact that something like this has never been done in Jamaica especially providing such an opportunity for young artistes.
The studio will not rent studio time but offer it to artiste on an invitation basis for free.
Additionally, it will also set up collaborations with international artistes in some cases.
Red Bull already operates an international label and the studio in Jamaica follows sister studios in New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States.
The local studio will boost a modern design that utilises natural lighting and offers a full range recording capabilities with state of the art equipment.
Jamaican classical composer Peter Ashbourne reconstructed May's Tivoli Gardens, West Kingston incursion at a recent International Chamber Music soiree recently.
Mr. Asbourne used instruments to create music that replaced the sounds of violence using musicians from Jamaica, Japan, Colombia, Israel and many other countries.
Although the music and the performances by the soloist became more mournful with each interpretation, the audience was captivated by the story being told.
The compositions were written and dedicated to persons who died in May 2010 in Tivoli.
The concert was organised by Music Unites! — Jamaica Arts Endowment Fund and the International Proxy Parents.

According to a report in the Observer Jamaicans should not let up on their guards when it comes to earthquakes.
The recent 3.8-magnitude earthquake which shook sections of Kingston and St Andrew on Sunday night -- the ninth such event felt in Jamaica since the start of the year. gives a great reminder of that fact.
Dr Lyndon Brown said it was a reminder to Jamaicans be prepared for earthquakes.
"We are in a very active zone. Earthquakes are always happening. When we have these events, (it is a reminder that) we have to be very conscious of how we build. We can't just have everybody building how they want," Brown, a research fellow at the University of the West Indies (UWI) and head of the Earthquake Unit, told the Observer.
"I would advise that people just always be prepared for such events. Remember the "drop, cover, hold" rule that ODPEM (Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management) tries to impart," he added.

I give expression to the creative, healing power of Divine Love.
A heart capable of sadness is one capable of understanding and love. We find our way out of the emotional depths by giving expression to the creative, healing activity of divine love within.
There are many ways to turn sadness into creative activity--doing something helpful for another person, writing a poem, painting a picture, or giving time and effort to a worthy cause. By contributing something constructive to life, we sublimate our sadness and find peace in our hearts.
Often when we are stirred to great depths of feeling and emotion, we find that we are capable of greater understanding, that we are in tune with the heart of humanity.
I will comfort them, and give them gladness for sorrow. --Jeremiah 31:13
Looks like that Twitter begging paid off for Cocaine Cowgirl Cat Washington.
As of yesterday, Ms. Cat is no longer a guest of the Philadelphia prison system.
Washington, 24, yesterday waived her right to a preliminary hearing in Municipal Court and was given a court date of Dec. 13 for her formal arraignment.
Pennsylvania State Police arrested the voluptuous reality star, model and music-video actress on the evening of Nov. 2 at the Park Towne Place Apartments, at 22nd Street and Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
Charged with carrying a gun illegally and with four drug-possession violations, Washington was jailed in lieu of $500,000 bail.
Among the drugs found on her were cocaine, Ecstasy and mushrooms, according to the entertainment website TMZ.com, which also reported that her fans began raising bail money online shortly after her arrest.
As of yesterday, Washington was able to post bail and was expected to be released, said defense attorney Tariq El-Shabazz.
“She is maintaining her innocence,” El-Shabazz told the Daily News during a brief phone interview.
Besides the gun and drug charges she’s facing, she has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Dec. 14 on charges of aggravated assault, robbery, conspiracy, theft and related counts stemming from an arrest last month, according to Philadelphia court records.
Next April she is to have a summary trial in community court related to a fighting charge for which she was arrested in July.
In other words, this b*tch WILL be back in jail sooner than later. In the meantime though, she’s free to get back to her lucrative career in doing random hoe sh*t, as seen below.

The dancehall artiste has been given the green light to travel when he appeared at the Resident Magistrate court a few days ago.
The entertainer passport and travel document were returned after being seized as part of his bail condition stemming from his unlawful wounding charge in involving his companion in September.
Reggae artiste Gyptian had to pay attention to his body signals after he almost collapsed. According to his manager Ivor Ruddock, the who issued a statement response to rumours about the health of the Reggae star, clarifying that he is suffering from dehydration following a 60-day tour of Europe and Africa.
After a hectic period of shows, interviews and promotion, the artiste, real name Windel Edwards, said that he was feeling faint after arriving in New York City earlier this week from Tanzania for two last performances. Gyptian reported feeling faint and was taken to a hospital in the city.

"To my fans in Barbados, I apologise profusely and I am currently renegotiating a date with the promoters to complete my obligations and please my fans. There is no Gyptian without my fans and I am very grateful for all the concern that has been shown but I assure everyone that I will be back to work for all of you as soon as I am back in peak form because as me seh, 'Me Nah Let Go'," said the artiste in reference to his recent international breakthrough hit, which precipitated his rise in workload.
Gyptian is returning home to rest and consult with his personal doctor and dietician. He will rest for a few days so that he can return to work in good health.

The Government's plan to realize projected revenues from the recent increase in alcohol taxes could be stymied by the withholding of products by major players in the market.
According to a report on RJR News since the increased tax took effect on Wednesday, the biggest player in the wines market, Wray and Nephew, has been refusing to sell their products to retailers and wholesalers.
Other players are said to have curtailed product sales as well.
It is believed that Wray and Nephew is furious that they were not consulted before the implementation of the tax which their rivals, Red Stripe, lobbied for.
The company has been in discussions with the Finance Ministry since Wednesday, but is yet to reach an agreement on the matter.
The tax on alcohol was projected to earn the Government $618 million from now until the end of the fiscal year, to help plug an impending hole in the budget.
However, with Wray and Nephew withholding sales until the company concludes consultations with the Finance Minister, it is not yet known how much of that money has been lost.
On average, the increased tax should earn about $5 million per day for the Government's coffers.
Kanye West t is now officially a reality show star! We all had a feeling we’d see him on the upcoming Kourtney and Kim Take New York, but now it’s confirmed!
Kanye and Kim Kardashian were photographed an awful lot in the last few weeks, and I should have known it was all for the cameras!
In the clip, Kanye calls the girls out for their store being a total disaster with only two weeks until opening day. But based on their Black Friday sales—I hear they made $100K—they’ve obviously figured out how to make it work!
Check out the sneak peek of Kourtney and Kim Take New York …it airs January 23.
Prince William is officially off the market, but his naughty younger brother, Prince Harry is still available. And bad girl Nicki Minaj has a serious crush on him.
Nicki is convinced that if Prince Harry met her, he's fall pretty hard, and that they'd make an amazing couple. “Tell Prince Harry to call me!,” she said.
“I feel like I’m almost about to be royalty, so if he teamed up with me, I think I could make him look good. I think we’d be a good couple. I’d help him step his game up.”
She's even thought about what she's going to do to impress his grandmother, the Queen. “If I was to meet the Queen I would bow down and I would give her a wig! This wig would be so fly on the Queen,” she joked. “I want to meet her so bad! Do you think that will happen?”
I can totally see these two having a casual hookup. Nicki is wild and sexy and Prince Harry has always been a bad boy at heart.
Celebrities may have wanted to consider the economy and the holiday season before agreeing to be killed off on Twitter for charity.
Stars like Kim Kardashian, Lady Gaga and Ryan Seacrest all took part in removing themselves from the social networking site on Wednesday in order to raise money for Alicia Keys’ charity Keep a Child Alive in honor of World AIDS Day.
The deal was, these tweet happy celebs were to remain silent until $1 million was raised. Only issue is, fans have only donated a total of $200,573—not even a third of the way there!
The economy could be to blame—a lot of people are still out of jobs, therefore lessening the amount of donations that they can make to organizations like this one.
The other possibility is that Black Friday just happened, followed by Cyber Monday, in which online spending surpassed $1 billion dollars!
Case in point, people are either broke, they’re spending their precious dollars on themselves loved ones or they're just happy that celebs are not tweeting about stupid stuff...and we know they do a lot of that!
It’s actually kind of a sad scenario, seeing as though it’s a great charity. Maybe they should have rethought the goal number before killing off these tweet-obsessed celebs!
Rihanna is now she's upset with herself that she would stick around in an abusive relationship.
Rihanna and Chris briefly reunited after the February 2009 drama and she can't believe she did that.
“It was a situation I always told myself I would never allow myself to be in. It’s something I would force girlfriends to get out of. But there I was, sitting in it,” she said. "I witnessed physical abuse happening to my mum and I always said I would never let that happen to me, and then it was happening to me.
“Now, when I look back at it, it just bugs me out that I couldn’t see it for what it was.”
One thing that Rihanna hates is when people feel pity for her. She doesn't wanna be known as the girl who got beat up by her boyfriend.
“Before that, I was just a little girl from the island, singing pop music,” she said. “It was easy to think I was shallow I had everything. It seemed like I had no problems in the world....And all of a sudden, boom! Everybody realizes I do have problems. I have too much pride. I would rather put on a face.
I would never let anyone see me cry. And I’m not like, ‘Please cry for me, I’ve been in a bad relationship.’ I hate that you know that and I don’t want you to remember me for that.”
Rihanna is currently dating Matt Kemp and clearly she is in a happier place.
Authorities say rap mogul Marion "Suge" Knight was arrested on an outstanding traffic warrant as he left a restaurant near Universal Studios outside Los Angeles.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Sgt. Shawn Ruda says Knight was released about an hour after his arrest early Saturday.
Ruda tells the Los Angeles Times that Knight was stopped by deputies, who ran his name through computers and discovered he was wanted on a minor traffic warrant issued recently in Beverly Hills.
Knight was brought to West Hollywood, where he was cited and released, after agreeing to appear in court within two months.
Ruda says Knight, who has a long arrest record, was not doing anything wrong when he was stopped, and agreed to talk to the deputies.

THE SMOKE debate is heating up as the production of ganja falls in Jamaica and illegal importation of cigarettes swirls across local borders.
Minister of National Security Dwight Nelson told his counterparts in the region that data showed that marijuana production was steadily dipping.
But with each passing month, Customs has seized illegal cigarettes in massive bulk, signalling that smokers are being given expanding choices - both legal and illegal.
In the latest of a flurry of activities that have been affecting the industry, Finance Minister Audley Shaw's attempt to inject additional funds into government coffers has served to level the playing field for weed and cigarette smokers.
Many Jamaicans are known to smoke both cigarettes and ganja.
carreras not benefiting
But Michael Bernard, managing director of Carreras Limited, controller of the major bulk of the tobacco, is not of the view that the two are interrelated.
"I believe that any reduction in marijuana production or use is as a result of the efforts on the part of the authorities, but Carreras is definitely not benefiting from it," he declared.
When Jamaica Customs Contraband Enforcement Team seized a container with more than 400 cases of illegal cigarettes valued at $120 million destined for St Maarten, there was no doubt that illegal cigarettes were big business.
Shaw's announcement last Tuesday gave Carreras a fillip to press for more action from the Ministry of Health and the Customs Department.
The finance minister announced that the 10.5 per cent special consumption tax that normal cigarettes attract would be imposed on 'beedie', 'little cigars' and 'grabba' (locally grown tobacco). Two of these items - beedie and grabba - are generally mixed with ganja for smoking.
A 100 per cent increase in 2008, another 30 per cent hike in 2009, and a near 30 per cent jump in 2010 sent the taxes on cigarettes swirling and left the cigarette company in a cloud of gloom.
However, other smokers were not required to pay the hefty taxes for their habit, resulting in the prices of other sources of smoking being less than half that of normal cigarettes.
But last week, smokers of other shapes and forms got the blow cigarettes had been getting when Shaw expanded the range of sin tax on the products.
Bernard complains that the Ministry of Health imposes strict guidelines for his company but ignores ganja use, as well as beedie and grabba, and marijuana consumption.
"The focus of the Ministry of Health is on cigarette smoking," he charged. "They must of necessity extend that focus to ensure that health warnings with specifications are enforced and ensure that those requirements are met."
Customs and the Organised Crime Investigation Division have been swooping down on smugglers and holders of hundreds of thousands of illegal cigarettes that have been sneaked into Jamaica.
While Carreras Limited exhaled last week with the news that other forms of smoking would be taxed as heavily as cigarettes, the company's managing director wants more to be done to level the playing field.
Bernard appeared quite satisfied with the efforts of some Customs and law-enforcement officers, but called for more.
However, he conceded that the objective of marijuana producers and growers is the same: access to easy money.
Bernard postured that it is for this reason that illegal cigarettes are finding their way on or under shop shelves and are being sold cheaply.
"I am confident that, by their action, Jamaica Customs will do what is necessary to prevent illegal cigarettes from circulating in Jamaica," Bernard asserted.
However, he said Customs must go further to ensure that labelling requirements are met in relation to all cigarettes entering the island, and the correct amount of duties paid.
"We are concerned that Customs and law enforcement must meet those requirements," Bernard told The Sunday Gleaner. "They are making efforts, but we would like to see these efforts accelerated."

With my mind on Spirit, I am calm and serene.
Profound inner peace is my heartfelt desire. In the silence of meditation, I feel the warm embrace of Spirit. My quiet thoughts become quieter still as I go to my inner sanctuary, a holy place within. I open my mind to the gentle presence of Spirit, and I experience a deep sense of calm.
With an air of expectancy, I think of a question, and then listen for divine inner wisdom. My thoughts are but tiny ripples, rising and falling away in the vast sea of inner calm.
As I listen with my heart, answers float to the surface. With the realization that as I ask, it is given, I have faith in the answers I receive. After meditation, my mind stays on Spirit as I carry a deep serenity and peace into my day.
Those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.--Romans 8:5
I am patient and positive as I rest in an awareness of God.
During this busy time of year, my schedule may be hectic and time may feel limited. I may struggle to feel patient and calm.
Patience is a quietness, a serenity within my heart and soul. It is a sense of peace in the midst of busyness and an assurance that everything is working as it should for me and those I love.
How do I become more patient? I turn to God. With God, I receive and achieve the patience I seek. If situations seem overwhelming, I turn to God and feel anxiety dissolve.
Any sense of hurry or concern is diminished. I am one with God, and God is guiding me each day, giving me the strength to act with ease and efficiency. Knowing that all is truly well, I am peaceful and patient.
Love is patient; love is kind.--1 Corinthians 13:4

Looks like it’s going to be a great watch!
Remember the drama that took place right after Wayne was released from prison, and he punched Drake in the face? I think I know what caused the rift between them…
Sources are saying that when Wayne was locked up Drake started sleeping with Shanell, who is one of Wayne’s girls. (OUCH!!)
Now everyone knows that’s Wayne’s girl. [Lil Wayne] is not jealous over her or anything, but he thinks that was just disrespectful.
I’m thinking this drama if far from over!!
The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin is set to undergo a medical procedure today that sparked a prayer vigil in her hometown Detroit.
Franklin was not at the vigil. but she released the following statement:
“Thanks to the Detroit City Council for their prayer vigil. And, many thanks to the City for their support.
All prayers are good!”
Last month, the 68-year-old singer announced she was canceling all concert dates and personal appearances through May on the orders of her doctors.
Franklin’s rep Tracey Jordan is keeping mum on what, exactly, the procedure will entail.
The Blaze Night Club in Portmore, St. Catherine, will play host to Sting’s exciting Poster Launch this Friday. The launch will showcase some of the acts live on stage as they give a tantalizing taste of what will unfold on December 26, right in the heart of Portmore.
The Sting poster, regarded as a keepsake item, is as much in demand as the show itself. Recognizing this, Supreme Promotions, the organizers of Sting, decided a few years ago to give the Sting poster the respect it deserves by having a separate Poster Launch the week after the official event launch.
“The Sting Poster is like no other,” Isaiah Laing, CEO of Supreme Promotions stated confidently. “Over the years, through the efforts of designer DiMario McDowell, it has raised the bar in terms of poster design. It also sets the overall tone for Sting,” Laing added.
In fact, the Sting poster does tell a tale and is highly anticipated by various groups for different reasons – it can cause pleasure or pain. For Sting patrons, the poster provides the most accurate information on the line-up of acts on the hugely popular Boxing Day event at Jamworld in Portmore.
And for the artistes, their face on the poster is the most reassuring confirmation that their slot has been reserved on this stellar dancehall event. Artistes have been known to cry in disbelief when they cannot find their own faces on the Sting Poster.
Ever since the usual well-attended Sting launch at the Pegasus Hotel in Kingston recently, and the release of some of the names on the line-up, the momentum has steadily been building among the artistes, fans and the public in general. Everyone is excited to know who else will grace the Sting stage this year.
The year’s Sting, which has telecoms giant LIME as its major sponsor, is dubbed “The Collaboration”. It consists of several dynamic segments including the 13 Warriors, Spotlight, the 13 Bad Girls of Sting, Sting Disc Jocks, Sting Commentary and Starlights.
The Poster Launch which is to be held on Friday December 3, 2010 at Blaze night club in Portmore, will reveal the full lineup for the event. Of course, one of the main attractions will be the poster giveaways which will take place after the official unveiling of the Sting 27 poster for 2010.
Sting 2010 is sponsored by LIME, the official telecommunications partner, Wata, the official water of Sting, Hitz 92FM, Sting’s official radio station, , TVJ, Fame 95FM, RJR 94FM, Mac D’s Records, Trensetta Productions, Down Sound Records, Island Car Rentals, Zoukie Trucking, Hype TV, Jolly’s His ‘N’ Hers, Romeich Wear and Kariblink Digital.
Residents of Tivoli Gardens in West Kingston have received nearly $100 million as compensation for damage done to their houses during May's incursion by the security forces.
This was revealed on Thursday by Member of Parliament and Prime Minister Bruce Golding.
Mr. Golding told our news centre the owners of the houses that sustained the most damage were the main beneficiaries of the pay out.
“We have completed those houses that we undertook, the ones that were severely damaged and all of the persons who have less than severe damage have been compensated at a cost of $94 million dollars, I believe,” Mr. Golding said.
Several houses were damaged during intense gun battles involving the security forces and gunmen.
The police and army had gone into the community in search of then fugitive Christopher "Dudus" Coke.
Dancehall artiste Bounty Killer should know today, Friday whether the court will return his passport to allow him to travel to the Caribbean for shows this holiday.
Bounty Killer's passport was seized as part of his bail condition when he was offered a $500,000 bond on November 27.
He is charged with unlawful wounding.
The charge stems from his arrest in September following an alleged incident at his Oaklands apartment in Kingston.
He alleged attacked his girlfriend with a hammer.
He is to go on trial on January 11 despite the request from the complainant for the charges to be dropped.
A wha dis whi a hear dat Buju maybe meck it to Sting? Ray!! If Laing can manage fi pull this one off then Sting nah guh good again!. Yuh know how much people well waan si di gargamel afta all wha guh dung.

Big up to our athletic champion Usain Bolt. Yeah man Puma come out and sey him a do great things fi dem ratings. Yup dem si a 16 per cent rise in sales to $784 million over the third-quarter, this according to a business report inna di Observer.
The German-based brand described the new three-year contract with Bolt as the most important event in its quarter behind its financials. It even ranked it above a multi-million full take-over of a joint-venture in China and Hong Kong and also irregularities discovered at a second joint-venture in Greece, according to its latest financials.
We know there will be thousands of disappointed fans who had planned to attend, Mavado shares your disappointment.
We received a police permit on October 20 for the original venue, Coruba Beach Club, but were shocked to receive another letter from the same branch of the JCF revoking that permit just last week.
Mavado has taken a huge financial loss in this endeavour as the promotion team did not spend a dollar until the police permit was in place. Alas, it seems not even that can be relied upon.
Since we received the letter of refusal at least 3 events have been held at that same venue, so while we are not surprised that Mavado's event has been targeted, its still a bitter pill. Alternative venues were sought out but the logistics were just too much to take on at the last minute so the decision was taken to pull the plug on the event for 2010.
If you can recall, this is something that seems to blight Mavado's birthday bash year after year, we leave it to the public to make up their own minds as to why that is.
We would like to thank our title sponsor LIME, a fantastic company who believes in Mavado and the positive image and music he outputs and continues to stand by him.
Likewise Jagra, who played a big part in last year's staging of the event, alongside Appleton who came on board for the first time this year.
See you next year!
The spirit of God breathes into me the breath of divine inspiration.
Divine inspiration makes my life an interesting, joyous experience. I fulfill my creative desires and live life abundantly when I let the breath of divine inspiration enter mind, soul and body.
The world is a creative place, an out-picturing of the creation of God. Whenever I am in tune with God, the things I do, the words I speak, the thoughts I think are creative, living and vital. I am led to find healing for my body. I am guided to let go of bad habits and form good ones.
Divine inspiration blesses me with spiritual growth. By opening my mind and heart to God, I go forward spiritually into new understanding, into a deeper realization of God's world.
The breath of the Almighty gives me life.--Job 33:4

Trinidad-based manufacturer, CGA Limited, is claiming that it has suffered boycotts of its products in the Jamaican market.
Phillippe Agostini, Executive Chairman of CGA Limited, was quoted in the Trinidad Express Newspaper as saying that his agent in Jamaica, GraceKennedy, told him supermarket customers were looking at product labels to see where they were made.
He said he was told that customers chose another brand if the products werelabelled 'made Trinidad and Tobago'.
In addition, Greig Laughlin, President of the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers' Association, said other manufacturers in the twin island republic were also concerned about boycotts in Jamaica.
The boycott is believed to be in response to controversial statements made by Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister, Kamla Persad Bissessar, that she will help CARICOM countries affected by Hurricane Tomas only if Trinidad benefits.
Dancehall artiste Michael Davey, better known as Powerman, and his landlord 47-year-old musician Nicholas Henry, are to return to the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on January 25.
The landlord is accused of assaulting the artiste with a piece of iron.
When the matter came up yesterday in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court, it was rescheduled by Resident Magistrate Lorna Shelly Williams for a mention date in January, in order for Henry's lawyer to be present in court.
Allegations are that on September 2, about 9:30 pm, the artiste, who had just returned from overseas, was confronted by Henry who told him that the rent was not enough to cover the water bills.
A dispute reportedly ensued in which Henry told Davey, "Yuh deh a foreign a call man crackhead, me no tell you say when you come a Jamaica me ago crack yuh head."
It is alleged that Henry used a piece of iron pipe to hit the entertainer on the forehead causing a cut. Powerman was also allegedly hit on the hand. It is further reported that the artiste was prevented from retaliating.
Davey reported the matter to the police and Henry was arrested and charged with unlawful wounding.
According to Powerman, while he was away his landlord had contacted him about rent, behaving boisterously and threatening to assault him.
Henry's station bail was extended for him to return to court next year January.

Protesters demanding cancellation of Haiti’s weekend presidential election clashed with U.N. peacekeepers Tuesday, the United Nations mission and Haitian radio reported.
Radio Kisekya said at least 15 people had been injured in two days of demonstrations north of the capital.
U.N. police sent reinforcements Tuesday but had no reports of injuries, police spokesman Jean-Francois Vezina said.
Rampant disorganization and allegations of fraud hang over Sunday’s critical vote for president, a third of the Senate and all of the lower house.
The winner of the presidential race will have to deal with Haiti’s crushing poverty, a cholera epidemic that has killed more than 1,700 people and post-earthquake reconstruction — including overseeing billions of promised aid dollars from the United States and other nations.
Violent protests that caused several deaths occurred across northern Haiti before the election, fed by suspicions shared by public health experts that the cholera epidemic was caused by a contingent of U.N. peacekeepers.

I share the light of love, the light of God, with all.
The light of a single candle dispels the darkness in an entire room. Darkness has no separate existence, but is merely the absence of light.
Likewise, God is the One Presence; there is no other power apart from God. One lit candle, shared with another, and another, and another, can light up the world. I do not live in darkness, for I am free to choose and share the light of God.
Fireworks, fireflies, flashlights and flashes of insight--there are many different forms of light. Today I celebrate the light that shines within each soul.
As I open my heart and share the light that I am, I invite others to share their light as well. As I share the light of love, I share the light of God with others.
It is you who light my lamp; the Lord, my God, lights up my darkness. --Psalm 18:28
Jennifer Lopez is embroiled in a new sex tape scandal and has launched a legal battle to prevent the films being made public..
The singer has taken her ex-husband Ojai Noa and his agent Ed Meyer to court to stop their reported attempt to sell and market videos made during the couple's 11-month marriage in 1997.
In the videos she is seen flashing her private parts and displaying other 'deviant behavior', according to documents filed in the singer's legal fight to keep the tapes secret.
'This is among other nudity on her part in the now 21 hours of home movies that we have so far recovered', Meyer said in the papers, adding that Ojani is continually finding more and more home videos with Lopez that he didn't remember he had.
Although the tapes do not contain full sex scenes they could be of great embarrassment to the star who is married to Mark Anthony and has two children.
'It must also be stated that in Noa's Home Videos, Lopez gives her full consent to Noa taping her'.
But Lopez is not agreeing to these tapes being made public saying they are private and personal, claiming that Noa and filmmaker Meyer are violating an injunction which blocks the release of the videos.
This recent battle between Lopez and her ex-husband is the latest in a long history of legal wrangling - with Noa allegedly trying to cash in on his relationship with the Latin star.
Four years ago, Lopez sued Noa to prevent him from publishing a book containing details of their short-lived marriage.
In 2007, a court-appointed arbitrator issued a permanent injunction forbidding Noa from 'criticising, denigrating, casting in a negative light or otherwise disparaging' the Jenny From The Block singer.
Lopez was awarded $545,000 in compensation and Noa was ordered to hand over all copies of materials related to his proposed book to Lopez's legal team.
In November 2009, Lopez again sued Noa for breach of contract and invasion of privacy, citing a previous confidentiality agreement between the two of them to prevent Noa from releasing his planned film, How I Married Jennifer Lopez: The J-Lo and Ojani Noa Story and 'previously unseen home video footage'.
She only gave birth six weeks ago, but Alicia Keys is already showing off a svelte post-pregnancy figure.

Keys gave birth to her first child - a son Egypt Dean on October 14, by her husband Swizz Beatz.
'There is no word to properly describe LOVE, to describe BLISS, to express a FEELING like this!!! Thank U 4 your love, support & prayers! ;-)' she tweeted, two days after the birth.
Keys married the 32-year-old rap producer, real name Kaseem Dean, July 31, shortly after announcing they were expecting.

Bounty Killer will know tomorrow whether the court will return his passport so that he can travel to the Caribbean during the festive season.
The entertainer's passport was seized as part of his bail condition when he was offered $500,000 bail on November 27 on a charge of unlawful wounding.
The charge stemmed from his arrest in September following an alleged incident at his Oaklands apartment in Kingston, where he reportedly attacked his 19-year-old lover, Raquel Smith using a hammer, a gold chain and mosquito zapper to beat her.
On Wednesday, his attorney Christopher Townsend presented the application for the variation of bail to Resident Magistrate Lorna Shelly Williams at the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.
However, Shelly Williams told the attorney that she would peruse the document and inform him of her decision on Friday. The deejay, whose really name is Rodney Price seemed 'cross, angry, and miserable' due to the long wait before the matter was called up, had his bail extended until Friday.
Price will face trial on January 11
International Reggae star Buju Banton has been cleared tp perfom at a concert on January 16.
Buju won an appeal against an order which denied him the right to perform at the concert.
Buju, whose given name is Mark Myrie, had applied for permission to perform at the concert on November 23 but his motion was dismissed by United States Judge Anthony Porcelli on the grounds that he was a flight risk.
However, in overturning the ruling on Wednesday Judge James Moody cited that the issue had been already addressed when Buju was released on bail in October.
Wednesday's ruling will now allow Buju to earn money to pay for his security detail which is costing US$20,000 monthly.
He is expected to perform at the concert, dubbed 'Before The Dawn', which will be held at the Bay Front Ampitheatre in downtown, Miami.

Now, we know this video doesn’t reveal much because Matt Kemp was not caught kissing this girl, but it’s his behavior that has us wondering.
The girl in the video clearly isn’t a stranger to Matt, but if they’re just friends, why won’t he acknowledge her when she calls his name?
And why, without saying a word or responding to her question, does he bolt in the other direction when she comes near him?
He wouldn’t have looked so suspicious if he just acted normal once he saw the cameras around!

As the festive season approaches many are looking forward to drinking and hanging out with friends.
Well it might not be so easy as an additional tax by the government has now ensured that those who want to drink and smoke will have to dig deeper into their pockets to do so.
Consumers of alcoholic beverages and smokers have again been hit with increased taxes as government seeks to raise an additional $772 million for the 2010/11 fiscal year.
The increases take effect today.
Finance Minister Audley Shaw, who unveiled the new measures in Parliament yesterday, said the increased taxes will "assist the government in meeting its revenue targets for the 2010/2011 fiscal year".
Shaw said a single specific Special Consumption Tax (SCT) of $960 per litre of pure alcohol will be applied to beers and stouts, wines (including beverages commonly known as tonic wines), cordials, liqueurs, vodka, whiskey, brandy, gin, underproof and overproof rum, except white overproof rum.
Starting today customers of the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) will start paying General Consumption Tax (GCT) on reconnection Fees.
The reconnection fee of $1500, which is applied to accounts disconnected for non-payment, will now attract GCT of 10%. This means that customers who are disconnected will now need to pay $1650 for reconnection, in addition to the outstanding bill amount.
This new measure forms part of a list of items associated with the service provided by JPS, on which the Government has now imposed GCT.
Other items which will now attract GCT include charges for returned cheques, service installation for temporary supply, cable pole attachment fees, damaged meters and additional service wiring.
Rihanna says women who criticise her for being sexy are "unhappy with themselves". The pop beauty - who is famous for her flesh-flashing stage outfits and revealing fashion choices - is proud of her body and insists girls who attack her online are "hypocrites".
She said: "People think I'm overly sexy. It bothers them for some reason. Girls don't like to see other girls dressed sexy . It's a little intimidating, I don't mean that in a cocky way. There's always going to be somebody not liking what you do. People have a lot of crazy opinions on things. Things I say, things I wear, places I go. It's just stupid. I'm a 22-year-old human being. It's fine for me to go to a club.
"People are hypocrites. They can't wait to say something horrible. Most of them are unhappy with themselves. It's women who are mad at other women. They should take a look at their own lives. A lot of people don't have the guts to confront themselves."
Although her online critics make her angry, Rihanna can accept that her overtly sexual image could annoy people.
But she is determined not to change her behaviour or style just to please anyone else.
She added in an interview with the United Kingdom edition of GQmagazine: "Public figures can become annoying. They see me a lot and every time they see me my boobs are out, so it can get a little irritating. I get that. But I have to do what makes me happy, what I feel like doing."

The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) clamped down on three businesses in Montego Bay, St James Monday morning, including that of a politician, seizing millions in assets.
The move was part of its drive to increase compliance and revenue collection.
More than $60 million is owed by these companies put together.
The IRD representatives were in a no-nonsense mood as they visited Last Resort Detective Agency, a well-known security company owned by Henry McCurdy, People's National Party Caretaker for North West St James, and seized a Prado SUV.
It was the same situation with an air conditioning company where a Nissan Frontier and pick up truck were seized.
Then it was on to an industrial machine business where a Benz and a Honda were seized.
Gladstone Turner, IRD officer, says they tried on several occasions to collect monies owed but to no avail.
He said no stones will be left unturned as they seek to collect outstanding monies owed to the Government.
Detectives assigned to the Organised Crime Investigation Division have reportedly launched a major probe into a recent security breach at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston.
The incident has led to a shake-up of the security procedures in and around the perimeter of the airport.
RJR News sources have revealed that a man who resides in East Kingston left the Rae Town Beach on the weekend of November 20 in what is believed to be a small boat.
Following several hours at sea, the man managed to reach near the perimeter fence of the Norman Manley International Airport, in the wee hours of Sunday morning, November 21.
According to sources, the man gained access to the tarmac unnoticed.
He proceeded to climb into a section of a parked commercial plane which was expected to leave later the same day for an overseas long haul flight.
He was found wandering on the tarmac hours later.
Airport security personnel were alerted and he was taken to the police station located at the airport but was later transferred to a Corporate Area Police Station.
THE PRESS Association of Jamaica has condemned an incident involving veteran journalist Christene King, acting managing director of The Sunday Herald, and minister with responsibility for information, Daryl Vaz.
In a letter addressed to PAJ President Jenni Campbell, King said she was verbally abused and threatened by Vaz as he ranted about a story that The Sunday Herald was scheduled to publish.
King said she was stunned at the minister's behaviour which, in her opinion, was threatening and abusive.
Meanwhile, Vaz yesterday denied that he verbally abused King. He said this could be substantiated by the many dignitaries and other guests who were in his presence during his brief encounter with her.
Vaz said he was concerned over what he described as the predictable and calculated attacks on the Government and its members by The Sunday Herald newspaper, noting that these attacks were not only malicious but grossly unprofessional and politically motivated.
In a letter of complaint to the PAJ, Vaz urged the association to investigate what he said was the unprofessional level of journalism being practised by that newspaper.

A PROPOSAL to rename Charlemont High School in St Catherine in honour of Jamaican Olympian and former 100-metre world record holder Asafa Powell is being opposed by the past students' association.
Although the proposal was made last year, the past students say they were unaware of it until last Friday when the Observer reported chairman of the Asafa Powell Foundation, attorney Delano Franklyn, as saying that the recommendation to change the name to the Asafa Powell High School is now with the prime minister.
Franklyn made the announcement during a function at The Courtleigh Hotel in Kingston at which the foundation donated cash awards to athletes and schools that uphold proper values and attitudes laden with a focus on academics.
"We don't want the name to be changed," said Charlemont High School Past Students' Association Public Relations Officer Judith Wilson. "We are not disputing the fact that Asafa has made a valuable contribution, as a past student, to the country and he is on the international scene — we are not disputing that at all. We applaud his achievements. However, we don't want the school to take his name," she said.
I am infused with life-giving energy.
The healing power of Spirit works in and through me. Illness is not who I am, and I am not defined by a diagnosis. I am one with Spirit, and the life force of God is at work, both inside and outside of me.
I consciously open myself to receive God's life-giving energy in mind, body and spirit. During prayer and meditation, I visualize myself harnessing this energy. I see God's healing light lovingly infusing every cell, every organ of my body.
I deny anything that stands in the way of accepting God's healing light. I affirm that I am completely whole and healed. Reaching out to others, I ask for support and provide love and complete acceptance to those who need healing power.
All in the crowd were trying to touch him, for power came out from him and healed all of them.--Luke 6:19
