Pastor Lewis faces more charges

Charges of perverting the course of justice were laid against Jamaican-born American evangelist Paul Lewis when he appeared in the Westmoreland Circuit Court on Wednesday.

Lewis is accused of sexually assaulting two teenaged girls at a hotel in Westmoreland.

Prosecutors say they have evidence to suggest that individuals close to the accused contacted the alleged victims and offered them money to change their accounts of the incidents which led to the charge against the preacher.

Despite this new revelation, Pastor Lewis was granted $300,000 bail and is to return to the Westmoreland Resident Magistrate's court on November 3 and the Circuit Court on November 11.

His travel documents were taken and he must not make contact with the girls involved in the cases.

Mr. Lewis, who is the head of the Paul Lewis Ministries, was charged on June 17 last year.

At that time the pastor, was in Jamaica on the invitation of a local church Ministry.
