International reggae crooner Gregory Isaacs is dead.

Gregory passed away on Monday in London, England at age 59 after battling cancer.

Vice Chairman of the Jamaica Association of Vintage Artistes and Affiliates Jimmy Sinclair gave this reaction.

“We have lost a great brother, we all loved him, he has done so much for Jamaica’s music and his shoes will be hard to fill. We are saddened right now, I don’t have words to express how sad I am personally,”

“I have worked for the brother all over the world. The last show I did with him was in Portmore just a few months ago, I’ve worked with him on Heineken Star Time, Stars R Us, Foundation Music Showcase, I have worked with him in Canada, the United States all over, so I am really saddened by the passing of Gregory Issacs, may God bless his soul,” Mr. Sinclair said.

Gregory Isaacs, known for his silky smooth voice which resulted in him being nicknamed the ‘Cool Ruler’, is known for several hits including Night Nurse, Tune In, My Number One, Love Overdue, Rumours and The Border.
