United States R&B singer Kenneth 'Babyface' Edmonds is set to perform at National Indoor Sports Centre on November 13.

This is a benefit concert organized by United Way with the hope of raising awareness and money.

The show will be produced by Turnkey Productions and will be a signature event in the series of activities taking place during United Way Week from November 8 to 14 which commemorates 25 years of service in Jamaica.

Edmonds is a 10-time Grammy winner with 11 solo albums.

His music has crossed several boundaries and genres, as he has written and produced songs for many artistes including Prince, Al Green, Beyoncé, Diana Ross, Toni Braxton, Michael Jackson, Michael Bolton, Paula Abdul, Tevin Campbell, Bobby Brown, Whitney Houston, Brandy, Mary J Blige, Janet Jackson, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Madonna, Kenny G, and Lil Wayne, among others.

According to Marcia McDonnough, Marketing Manager of Turnkey Productions and volunteer on the Communications Committee of the United Way, Mr. Edmonds is an ideal icon to help to celebrate the establishment of an organisation such as the United Way of Jamaica.

"In trying to assist the United Way in planning their celebratory and fund-raising activities for this year, it seemed like a perfect match.

A superstar such as Kenny 'Babyface' Edmonds, who is so well loved in Jamaica, would naturally be able to help us not only raise funds, but also help to raise the awareness for the work that is done by this organisation.

We also know that many persons missed seeing him at the Jazz and Blues Festival and so this is the perfect opportunity for all his fans to come out and spend an evening with him," she said.

Jamaican Diana King, well known for her first hit single Shy Guy, will also perform at the show, providing a thrill to fans who have not seen her in perform locally for some time.

Fast-rising group Nomaddz and the Silver Bird Steel Orchestra, well known especially on the North Coast for their exciting and stimulating performances, and for twice winning the World Championship of the Performing Arts, join the line-up along with Abdel Wright.
