Shelly Ann Fraser escapes two year ban

World and Olympic 100 meter champion Shelly Ann Fraser will not get the maximum two year ban for testing positive test for a banned substance in May.

The Jamaica Amatuer Athletics Association (JAAA) medical representative, Dr. Warren Blake, explained to RJR Sports that the JAAA’s disciplinary committee, after consulting with the IAAF, has decided that Fraser should not be handed a two year ban as there were circumstances which were deemed exceptional and special in her case.

The disciplinary panel has already reconvened and Dr. Blake says a decision should be known within a week.

Fraser had returned a positive test for the banned substance oxycodone after competing at the Diamond League meet in Shanghai, China on May 23.
