She's played every role from a dowdy young woman in Monster's Ball to a sexy mutant with super powers in X-Men, and in her latest photo shoot Halle Berry has undergone another dramatic transformation.

The Oscar-winning star's sleek 1920s-style bob and elfin look are a far cry from the casual mum-about-town style she sports when out and about with two-year-old daughter Nahla.
The former Bond girl poses in a series of velvet gowns in

the striking photos in this month's Vogue magazine.
In the accompanying interview Berry is candid about her break up earlier this year from former partner Gabriel Aubry and says she is optimistic about finding love in the future.

She told interview Jonathan Van Meter, 'I'm not done with love, but I refuse to settle.
'I am a hopeless romantic. And I won't stop till I get it right.'
Berry and Aubrey, 33, were together for 4 years and had daughter Nahla, 2, in 2008.

Of the breakup she said:'It’s just that you realise you are not meant to go the distance with everybody.

'We were meant to bring this amazing little person into the world. And I think that’s why we came together. And because of that, we are going to be together forever, all three of us.

We are a family until we are not here any more.'
Despite the breakdown of the relationship, Berry insists that the couple's split was amicable.

'By the time it hit the papers – full of rumours and lies, with people having to make up problems between us – Gabriel and I had long dealt with it. We were done. And we were on a good foot, and we had decided what we were going to do for Nahla, and we were able to say, 'This will pass."'

Still a family: Berry, says that she, Aubry and Nahla, pictured here at Disneyland earlier this year, will always be 'together forever'
The Monster's Ball star, 43, is the first African-American woman to appear on the cover of the iconic magazine's September issue, which is considered in fashion circles to be the most important issue of the year.
