Reports have surfaced that double Olympic and World Championship gold medalist and world record holder Usain Bolt has written to the government of Jamaica asking that the decision to rename a section of Highway 2000 in his honour be reconsidered.

Bolt, the youngest recipient of the nation's fourth highest honour, the Order of Jamaica, sent a letter to the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Sports “outlining the reasons behind the decision and also stating that the party remains open to discussions regarding the matter”, according to media reports.

Sports Minister Olivia 'Babsy' Grange is currently off the island and no official word has so far been forthcoming from that ministry.
