The reigning Barbados Calypsonian has found himself in trouble with the law.

Days after being winning his ninth Pic-O-De-Crop title as Barbados’ top calypsonian for the year, Anthony “Gabby” Carter has been charged with assault.

Gabby's arrests follows a clash with a popular media personality.

The Calypso monarch was charged by police on Monday morning after an alleged altercation with radio and television presenter Anthony “Admiral” Nelson.

The incident reportedly occurred at a backstage at a concert on Sunday night.

Carter rolled back the years Friday night to win the calypso crown with his renditions of “Oh Haiti” and “Ole Ashe”, beating two-time monarch Adrian Clarke into second place.

The show was the most anticipated of the annual Crop Over Festival.
