The first ever Miss Jamaica Gospel Ambassadors Pageant ahs been launched by a husband and wife team, the first of its kind in Jamaica.

The show is being hosted under the theme "Christ - the Advocate of the People."

The coordinators say the show aims to foster spiritual connections across denominational boundaries.

They say they want to remind young women that "there's still life in the church".

The competition is open to young women from the ages of 18 to 25 and contestants will be judged in three categories namely through the assessment of an out reach project, their talents and knowledge of the bible.

The contest will run from September to November of this year, beginning with four regional eliminations.

An eight weeks television series will act as a build up to the grand finale slated tentatively to be held at Kings House under the patronage of the Governor General Sir Patrick Allen.

The winner will walk away with several great prizes to include airline tickets and a college scholarship.
