It was a night of glitz, glamour and definitely top Caribbean artists.

The best of the best in the industry got together on Sunday night for the 29th edition of the International Reggae And World Music Awards.

The event which is put on by Emphraim Martin of Martin’s International has become ‘the grammys’ of the industry. Tony Rebel and the Caribbean Queen, Alison Hinds were the pilots for the show which had close to 40 categories in total.

The red carpet event got started just before 7pm when the artists, special invites and dignitaries made their grand entrance.

The Soca King was the first artist to arrive and walk the red carpet. Dozens of media houses lined up to get pictures and interviews with the artist who took home best entertainer of the year, most outstanding show band and best soca/calypsonian of the year.

Other big contenders for the night included the ‘fyah mumma’ Queen Ifrica, Tarrus Riley and Gramps Morgan all who took home several awards each during the night. The Lioness Queen Ifrica proved true to her title, with five wins.

The York College Performing Arts Center over in Queens, NY was an excellent location and attendance was in great numbers for the show.

Following the fabulous performances was the after party over at Club Tobago. 2011 will mark the 30th staging of the IRAMAS and much is already in store for the major anniversary.

As always Yardflex was live with all of the action from the IRAMAS.
