The legacy of classic soul is about to be unleashed on Toronto’s Mother’s Day revelers who are about to be graced with the high energy and first rate musicianship of the SOS Band and Ready For The World.

Both vintage icons join leading comedian Kenny Robinson and ace disc jockey Starting From Scratch, for a night of nostalgic sounds and laughter.

On May 8, 2010 starting at 8:30pm, Toronto’s Kool Haus, that is located at 132 Queens Quay, will be the place to be, where all moms will be given special honor..

“It has been sometime since we played in Toronto – I think since the 1980s,” Willie Triplet, band member of Ready For The World, told Yardflex recently; and as the group’s name implies, they are more than ready to take Toronto by storm.

Having stuck together since their inception, Ready For The World remains relevant with their collection of memorable hits – all timeless classics.

Chart topping tracks like “Oh Sheila” and “Love You Down” have become undeniable marks of success that are chiseled in the minds of all soul music enthusiasts, young and old.

In the same vein, the SOS Band has maintained a steady global following since exploding onto the scene in 1980 with their first mega hit, “Take Your Time – Do It Right” - that went platinum.

Their Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis produced hits, “Weekend Girl” and “Just Be Good To Me” further sealed their fate as undisputed musical greats.

Initially known as Sounds Of Success, the band’s original lead vocalist Mary Davis and trumpeter/vocalist, Abdul Ra’oof still tour with the new band after more than 20 years.

Willie Triplet attributes his band’s longevity to their being constantly active and totally in house with their writing, producing and performing all their materials.

Working together on this regular basis has a lot to do with it, he explained. “Even though individual members’ focus sometimes diverts our working together has a lot to do with it,” Willie Triplet expounded.

Hosted by the hilarious Kenny Robinson, with musical transitions by DJ Starting From Scratch, this Mother’s Day concert will be the place to be and definitely the place to take your mothers this weekend. Tickets are available at Call 416-731-9696 for more information.
