Famed promoters Irish and Chin, who have been at the forefront of sound clash culture for more than 12 years, recently announced the final staging of their annual sound clash Death Before Dishonor -- dubbed "The Final Warrr." This prestigious competition, which is now in it's 10th year, will formally close its curtain on Easter Monday, April 5, 2010 at Pier 1 in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
Known for producing epic events, Irish and Chin single handedly groomed Death Before Dishonor into the Caribbean's most successful and well attended sound clash. Keeping up with its raw sound system entertainment tradition, Death Before Dishonor 10 will not only serve as the event's finale — it will also represent a historical moment in sound clash culture.
Sounds from all over the world have graced the Death Before Dishonor stage in hopes of becoming the next big thing. And although many have entered, only five sounds have been champions in the event’s nine-year history. Among all of the past contenders, the sounds that have made the biggest impact on the crowd of die hard, often brutal sound clash fans include Bass Odyssey, Mighty Crown, Black Kat, Tony Matterhorn and David Rodigan.
The final showdown will feature a return of the champions, plus Sentinel and Bredda Hype. According to Chin, "It's only right that the champions fight it out for a final cup." So, fans can look forward to a dub plate heavy battle between past winners Bass Odyssey, Tony Matterhorn, Black Kat, Mighty Crown, German killers Sentinel and the new kid on the block Bredda Hype.
