National champions Delloreen Ennis London and Noveline Williams continued to bring success to Jamaica's rich track and field tradition, as they mined bronze in their respective events to increase the country medal haul to four on day five at the 11th International Amateur Athletic Federation ( IAAF) World Athletics Championships in Osaka, Japan.
Ennis London clocked a personal best 12:50 seconds as she finished third behind eventual winner and title holder Michelle Perry of the United States 12:46 seconds, with the silver medal going to the Canadian Perdita Felicien 12:49 in the women's 100 metres hurdles final. The other Jamaican in the finals Vonnette Dixon could only manage 7th place with a personal best 12:64.

They want Sean Kingston's mega hit "Beautiful Girl" to be cut from radio play lists! Yes, Joan Murphy, chairman of the New Mexico Suicide Prevention Coalition, while addressing reporters, protested that, "Record companies that promote artists whose message is that suicide is an acceptable solution to problems, don't help reduce the incidence of suicide anywhere. Radio stations have a responsibility to be sensitive to this issue." 

Miss Jamaica World, Yendi Phillips, will represent the island at the Miss World Pageant in Shanghai, China on December 1. She was crowned at last Saturday's staging before a capacity crowd that seemed to be all hers and without a question; she totally dominated the contests. Phillips was the Most Aware, got the highest votes from the public and won three of the four mini-competitions. The mini-competitions were comprised of, the talent competition, the Supreme Ventures Miss Jamaica World (MJW) Sport and the Ting MJW Beach Beauty titles.
He was taken by ambulance from his Santa Monica property to the emergency room at the nearby St. John's Hospital at mid-day on Sunday. Soon after, rumours began spreading that Wilson had cut his wrists and taken pills in an attempt to end his life. He was reportedly found by big brother Andrew, who called the authorities.
Rafer Alston, a National Basketball Asoociation (NBA) guard for the Houston Rockets was charged Tuesday for slashing a man's neck during a brawl at a Manhattan nightspot. This was his second breach of the law this month.

Uterine fibroids are benign (medically harmless) tumors of the uterus. These tumors result from abnormal growth of muscle cells and fibrous connective tissue in the uterus. By the age of 50 years old the overall incidence of fibroids are 70-80% for women. Fibroids can vary in size from being undetectable by human eyes to the size of a full term pregnancy. In studying the origin of fibroids, they have been linked to hormonal imbalance, obesity, xeno-estrrogen, heavy metal toxicity, infectious microorganisms, stress and high blood sugar level. Fibroids can cause complications such as menstrual problems, pelvic and lower back pain, constipation, urinary problems, hemorrhoids, infertility, ectopic pregnancy and miscarriages. Black women are four times more likely to develop fibroids than Caucasian women. They also have larger fibroids and develop fibroids at a younger age. Treatment includes hysterectomy, myomectomy, Uterine Artery Embolization (UAE), gonadatropin releasing hormones (GnRH) antagonists, androgens (danazol), and focused ultrasound surgery (FUS), and essential oils.
Known to annihilate and “assassinate” all competition through his lyrical brilliance and original sound, Assassin (hence the name) returns with his sophomore album, "Gully Sit'n" on August 28th. R&B songstress, Keyshia Cole, is set to release the follow up to her platinum-selling debut, "The Way It Is" with "Just Like You" on Geffen Records. The album release date is September 25th, 2007. The Benny Boom-directed video for the first single, "Let It Go," featuring Missy Elliot and Lil' Kim, shows the Oakland native's party side with the fun-infused Missy Elliott produced track.
Kenny 'Babyface' Edmonds finds a welcome reception for his version of James Taylor's "Fire & Rain," the #2 most-added single at AC radio and #1 most added at Smooth Jazz in its first week of release. "Fire & Rain" is the first pick from "Playlist" in stores September 18th, the first album on the newly re-launched Mercury Records label, a division of the Island Def Jam Music Group.

Soul Klap Records is breaking into the Reggae industry in Jamaica with an ammunition full of experience from time spent at Universal Canada. CEO Kevin Barton, plans on using some of the same ideas that created one of the largest urban music departments in North America for Universal Records.
Craig Dennis was laid to rest today, August 22, with a thanksgiving service for his life. Held at the Greater Macedonia F. B. H. Church, with Interment at Meadowrest Memorial Gardens, Kingston, the service was attended by hundreds of family members, friends and colleagues of Craig’s from the reggae fraternity, who turned out to pay their last respects.
Sizzla Kalonji recently returned from an eight week tour of Europe, and is expressing satisfaction with his accomplishments there.

Kenyatta Hill debuts' single, "Daddy," (Tafari Records) confronts the emotional pain and uncertainty he felt after the recent loss of his father. "While I was writing, I was sitting and crying, because I didn’t understand what was going on. I still don't understand what's going on, you just kind of to go with the flow," Kenyatta said.



Marcus Garvey, father of panafricanism, is being honored throughout the world, celebrating his 120th birthday. In 1962, Jamaica gave him the distinction of being a National Hero in conjunction with world wide acknowledgement of his accomplishments through the work done under the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA).
Shortly before his appearance on stage at Trinidad and Tobago’s MOB II Club, in Chaguaramas, "The Original Don Dadda" Supercat, reportedly struck the stage manager of "The Super Chutney Show" pushing him to the ground. Sources out of the twin islands say Supercat just could not "settle" with racial abuse flung his way by the prominent businessman, Wendell Naipaul.
Managing Director for Artist Development at the US based Allen Agency, Heather Elliot, today sent a strongly worded letter to journalists of a particular internet publication - who she called, "One sided," threatening legal action for the publishing of appalling news stories that portray her client, Michelle "D'Angel" Downer in a negative fashion.

Released recently, "Paddy Cake" is a fun, jazzy single done in combination with Beenie Man. "It will be a totally fun video, you can't put it into a genre. There will definitely be something for everyone," the sultry singer shared.
Former President of the Jamaica Football Federation and C.E.O. for the chains of Captain's Bakeries, Captain Horace Burrell, was presented with a bronze award by the St. James Football Association at their annual awards ceremony held at the Wexford Court Hotel in Montego Bay, Jamaica recently.

Mad Michelle, who once ruled as Queen of the Dancehall is livid about gossip attaching her to selector Fire Links. Whoever started this rumor has cause mayhem in her 5 year relationship with partner, Harry Toddler. Michelle said that the rumors are not true, and she has never ever been approached in any inappropriate way by Fire Links.
Don Imus, the radio broadcaster who was axed from CBS Radio earlier this year after he called members of a mostly black Rutgers University Women's Basketball team, "nappy-headed hos" on his radio show, "Imus in the Morning," is planning a comeback after reaching a settlement over his multi-million dollar contract with the station. Previously, he threatened to sue CBS for $120 million in a breach-of-contract lawsuit, but both parties reached an agreement on Tuesday August 14.
The Jamaican trio of Chris Gayle, Marlon Samuels and Darren Powell have been included in the West Indies star -studded team down to compete in the first ever ICC/Twenty 20 World Cup which bowls off in South Africa on September 11.
Beenie Man and an entourage of men from 357 Entertainment stormed into D'Angel's office in New Kinston on Tuesday, taking her furniture and dismantling the office. Almost every media house was present including business people from the area witnessing this event. A van and a truckload of furniture could be seen trying to leave the premises, however D'Angel arrived in-time and blocked the drive way with her car.
Jah Cure's first performance since his release from prison on July 28, 2007 has left a lasting impression on his European fans. On Sunday August 12 at the Reggae Sundance Festival in Eindhoven, Holland, Jah Cure performed in front of 20,000 persons who were longing for that day. Irie FM's Elise Kelly gave a graphic report of this moment that she called absolutely phenomenal.
Ce'Cile is busy touring Europe and her music continues to make waves in Jamaica. Debuing at number 29 on the Richie B singles chart last week, her song "I'm Waiting," on the Danger Zone Label, is presently in a video medley, with the entire song set to be premiered with its own video this week.

On August 12, 2007, Jah Cure is expected to make his first overseas appearance since being released last month. According to his manager, Allison Hunt, he will perform at The Sundance Festival in Holland. She also confirmed that news about his being scheduled to perform in the United States in upcoming months are unfounded and false.
Following in the footsteps of his talented ex-wife, Jonathan Plummer has written a novel that closely resembles the events in his life. Once married to esteemed “Waiting To Exhale” author, Terry McMillan, Plummer was the inspiration for his wife's best selling 1996 novel, "How Stella Got Her Groove Back."
The World Athletic Championship starts in Osaka Japan on August 25 – September 2 2007. Everyone in the athletic world will be focused on the Asian country for what should be an interesting event. Jamaica will be one of the participants and from a male and female standpoint has a strong chance of showing their true mettle.

Chris Tucker returns to the big screen after a six-year absence as he reunites with the all-star team of co-star Jackie Chan, director Brett Ratner (Rush Hour, Rush Hour 2, X-Men: The Last Stand, Red Dragon), and screenwriter, Jeff Nathanson (Rush Hour 2, Catch Me If You Can) to deliver the third installment of the blockbuster Rush Hour franchise. Arriving in theaters on August 10, 2007, Rush Hour 3 sees the beloved action comedy duo of Tucker and Chan reprising their roles as LAPD Detective James Carter and Chinese Chief Inspector Lee respectively. This time around, the two must travel to Paris to battle a wing of the Chinese organized crime family, the Triads. Based on Characters created by Ross La Manna, Rush Hour 3 is being produced by Arthur Sarkissian, Roger Birnbaum (Memoirs of a Geisha), Jay Stern, Jonathan Glickman (The Pacifier) and Andrew Z. Davis.
As driving rhythms pumped revelers at Gray's Inn Sports Complex, St Mary in the wee hours of Jamaica’s independence morning, angry words were spewed in chants, blows were thrown and a barrage of fighting men took over the stage for about 15 minutes. The overarching problem seemed to be that neither Sizzla nor Norris Man ever heard about putting their mind in gear before putting their mouth in action. 
"Dem shuda know a St. Mary wi come from," is a line made legendary by dancehall superstar Capleton through one of his songs. Capleton's annual fun-day and stage show entitled, 'A St. Mary Mi Come From' will take place today, Sunday August 5, at the Gray's Inn Sports Complex, Annotto Bay, St. Mary.
Captain Barrington Irving Jnr, the first black man and the youngest man to fly around the world solo was honoured at a reception held in Sam Sharpe Square, Montego Bay, Jamaica on Saturday August 4, 2007. Born of Jamaican parentage, Captain Irving was presented with a citation and the key to the City by Montego Bay’s Mayor, Councillor Noel Donaldson. Several thousand Jamaicans braved the boiling sun to get a glimpse of this historical pilot and request his autograph. Onlookers were pulling out papers, books, t-shirts, old Jamaican money and other articles to be signed by Captain Irving.
Singer Jah Cure who was recently released from incarceration, paid a visit to the inner city community of Paradise Row in Montego Bay, Jamaica on Friday August 3 rd, 2007. Jah Cure met with several prominent entertainment and sports personalities. The visit to Paradise Row was to show his respect to the people of the community who have being staging an annual Jah Cure Birthday Bash for the past five years while he was in prison.
" Unu naah stop si mi till unu gi mi." These are leading lines from one of the most memorable songs ever entered in the Tastee Talent search finals, and it was written and performed by Dez I.
Fyah Mumma is the name of Queen Ifrica's recently released album and it contains 21 tracks. The album includes her smash hit, "Below the Waist," that has risen to number one in Jamaica, the USA and across Europe. "Beautiful Day" is the track that is also expected to be a mega hit. According to Tony Rebel, "The album as a whole is a hit."
R. Kelly, the legendary R&B singer who was charged with child pornography five years ago will face the Judge on September 17. The trial will take place in Cook County, Chicago and should last for about a month. 

Taping of the second season of VH1's "The Wendy Williams Experience" began on August 2, 2007 in WBLS Studios. Today's episode featured none other than Beenie Man's estranged wife, D'Angel. In between rants about how well she is known all over the world and updates about her upcoming musical collaborations with various artistes D'Angel managed to tell Wendy that the rumors of her marital infidelity are false and that Beenie's reported new "young ting" played no part in their separation.
