AlbumVybzKartel.jpgDeejay Vybz Kartel recently returned from a six-show run in two weekends in the Tristate area, as well as shows in the state of Texas, Atlanta, Georgia and Orlando, Florida. The deejay's sophomore album, JMT, has been released by Greensleeves Records.

The lead single for the album is "Emergency" and it was released before the album, while "Hello Moto" is released with the album on 12 inch vinyl. The album is classic Vybz Kartel with songs like "Stammer", High Altitude with Bounty Killer, and the original 'Gun Session - Buddabye'. Wayne Marshall features twice on the album on "Late Night in the Scheme" and "Need You Girl". It's a really good mix of songs," he told YardFlex.Com.

Dancehall fans may be disappointed to hear that the remixed version of the song with T-Pain's 'So Sprung' is not on the album. However, a number of the songs have some crossover appeal and he is looking to repeat the success of 2004's effort with a UK R&B singer, Zena on "Been Around the World" which resulted in his first major mainstream hit outside the local Jamaican dancehall arena. DingDong.jpgArguably Jamaica's top dancer, Ding Dong, showed his versatility this week by scoring his first number one hit with his Bad Man Forward Bad Man Pull Up single on the VP imprint. The single is the top song this week on the CHOICE FM chart in London, England. The single is also #15 on the South Florida Top 20 Reggae Singles chart.

Ding Dong, whose real name is Kemar Ottey, has contributed his voice to a number of songs such as Wacky Dip with Voice Mail and Weddy Time 2, along with Bogle and Voise Mail.

His solo recording Chakka Chakka, also did well a few months ago.
Ding Dong believes that dancers are now doing their own tunes because they often had ideas, which were disregarded by artistes.

neyo.jpgRhythm and blues sensation Ne-Yo grabbed the pole position on three main Billboard charts this week. The 23 year-old singer who has written songs for top acts including Mary J Blige, Chris Brown and Mario (he wrote Mario's number one hit Let Me Love You), has seen his debut single So Sick rise from number nine to number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

Ne-Yo's debut solo album In My Own Words sold over 301,000 copies in its first week of release to debut at number one on both the Billboard 200 and R&B Hip Hop album charts. a feat aided by digital sales of his hit So Sick, the No. 1 download with 120,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Jay-Z was a producer on the singer-songwriter's album, "In My Own Words," which sold 301,000 copies in its first week, and is pulling the strings behind the scenes on Ne-Yo's success. The single, "So Sick," a huge radio hit, was withheld from the digital market until the album hit stores, and the label invoked UMVD's rebate program for developing acts to bring the set's sale tag to as low as $7.98 at price-driven chains Target, Best Buy and Circuit City.

At 10 minutes to six on Monday morning, Beenie Man hit the stage to a tremendous roar from the crowd, and announced that he would not be working alone. Minutes later, the whole venue just 'lift up' in an orgy of flag-waving, hand-waving, and fire-torches stabbing orange tongues of fire at the purplish dawn sky. Enter the Fireman.

He hit the stage dressed in a regal-looking red and gold outfit and launched into 'Top of Things', Beenie responded 'Come Again', when he did 'Slew Dem', Beenie replied with 'Troublemaker', when Capleton suggested 'Bad Mind', Beenie declared 'Nuh Like Me' and so on, and the crowd loved every second of it.

We gone ah Negril! Yea, it's Papa and Razzi coming to you live from the decadent town of Negril where the crazy Spring Breakers are gathered, and plotting to take over the town.

We arrived last night to attend the Spring Bling '06 pre-party on the Negril strip. Trust me, there were crazy girls on the strip that night, some heading to The Jungle, and we soon spotted other girls of the streetwalking variety dressed in some bootylicious fashions that fired up our overactive, testosterone-filled imaginations.

Since November last year, the two have been working together on music projects, and eventually started dating. There's no wedding ring yet, but D'Angel is sure waiting for it! When will the wedding bells be tolling for Beenie and D'Angel? Who knows?

Beenie Man confirmed that the relationship had evolved into something more serious this week. He told a VOICE newspaper writer that:
"Yes, it's a mafia engagement...ah mi wife, me and har ah go get married 'cause mi love her."

He was speaking during the shooting break of D'Angel's new video, 'Woman Power' that celebrates the recent victory of Portia Simpson Miller as the first female president of the PNP, and what the victory means to the 'gentler sex' in Jamaica. During the break, the two were openly flirting with each other, sharing jokes and tender moments away whenever D'Angel had the opportunity.

"I am just doing the last couple of tracks now, it's going to be 14 tracks of classic reggae," he said.

Jimmy Cozier's mother, Dawn, is Jamaican-born, while his dad is an accomplished jazz musician so he grew up in a home where diverse music cultures converged and he was exposed to a pantheon of jazz greats, as well as music from reggae icons such as Bob Marley and Beres Hammond. So it was almost inevitable that he would explore the Jamaican side of his heritage.

MafiaHousePhotoByCarlingtonWilmotZG1.jpgWhen Beenie Man informed YardFlex of the plans he had for Mafia House Productions, Jigga Mattic and Warlington decided that we had to find a 'gangster car'. After a couple of phone calls, we located 48 year-old Merrick Reid, a building contractor who collects classic cars as a hobby.

Mr. Reid had a 1936 Ford V8 three-window couple that was similar in make to ones the gangsters used to call 'The Hardtop Roadster' which were often used to go on 'moonshine runs' (transporting bootleg whisky) during the Prohibition Era in the United States. During Prohibition Era ( 1917-1933) the manufacture, sale or transportation of intoxicating liquors was prohibited. Underground saloons popped up, and inevitably, most of the liquor traffic fell into the hands of gangsters.

DeathRow.jpgA judge has frozen the assets of Marion "Suge" Knight, including his Death Row Records label, after finding the rap mogul had avoided paying a $107 million civil court judgment won last March.

In another twist, the ruling alsao favors an imprisoned drug dealer, who wants half of a $107 million court award to his wife, Lydia Harris, who claimed Knight cheated her out of a 50 percent stake in the rap label.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Ronald Sohigian said Knight, who co-founded Death Row with rapper Dr. Dre in the early 1990s and helped launch the careers of performers Snoop Dogg and Tupac Shakur, could stave off the order if he fully disclosed his assets in a debtor's exam set for April 1.

The single debuted at number 44 on the UK singles chart.

BescentaPhotoByCarlingtonWilmotYardFlexB.jpgAmbition never ends with the first hit song. The pursuit of excellence is the driving force behind reggae artiste Bescenta, who is a rare combination of intensity, quiet confidence and humility.

Born Bryden Bescenta Craig Wilkins on April 12, 1975, he grew up in the Salisbury Plain area, close to Stony Hill in St. Andrew. He attended Almond Hill All Age, then Oberlin High, before graduating from St. Andrew Technical High School (S.T.A.T.H.S) in Kingston. It's not often that you find a girl who is as wholesome as she is sexy, but when that happens in one package, it's sheer magic. That happened when YardFlex caught up with one of our favourite YARDGIRLS, Tina.

"It is not my ambition to become a model, what I want to do is establish my own business," the 22 year-old nail technician told YardFlex.

The video was shot by critically acclaimed director Nordia Rose at Victoria House, Lindsay Crescent.

"I think that this song is an important one because it sends a clear message to women that they can succeed at the highest level of politics and business, if they just stick to their guns," D'Angel said.

Wayne Wonder and fellow veteran reggae artiste Beenie Man performed to a packed house at the Belize City Centre in Belize City last Saturday. Following brief, but vibes building appearances by Gringo re-christened Don Mafia and large on talent Kirk Davis, Ruff Kutt struck up the introduction that heralded the arrival of Wayne Wonder.

notoriusbig.jpgAccording to a story from Yahoo on the Net, a judge halted sales of Notorious B.I.G.'s breakthrough 1994 album "Ready to Die" after a jury decided the title song used part of an Ohio Players tune without permission.

The jury Friday awarded $4.2 million in punitive and direct damages to the two music companies that own rights to Ohio Players recordings.

The sales ban imposed by U.S. District Judge Todd Campbell affects the album and the title song in any form, including Internet downloads and radio play.

It was unclear when or how the ban would take effect. By Saturday evening, a search of BestBuy.com and Amazon.com showed "Ready to Die" was still available for purchase online.

NordiaRoseYardFlex.jpgNordia Rose says that she is feeling much better physically these days following a recent scare when she was hospitalised for two days last month on what should have been the second day of a T.O.K photo shoot when she became dehydrated and had to be given an IV.

"From my mother was pregnant, she had to take iron injections because she didn't have enough iron in her blood. So as I grew up, I found that I had to take iron tablets as I was tested at two different schools and the same result, low iron. Because of that, I have to eat a lot of fruits, a lot of callaloo, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drink a lot of fluids," she told YardFlex.Com.

We caught up with her while she was backstage at the Spring Break show in Negril.

Arguably Jamaica's busiest music video director, she has a host of new projects coming up with Elephant Man, Vybz Kartel and she has been chosen to shoot Beenie Man's 'Heart Attack' video.

SOLD OUT! When Beenie Man shot the video for his new single, 'Swing Eh Weh' in Barbican Place, the uptown garrison, it was no comparison, the whole community came out for the event. School kids coming home from school stopped by, mangy dogs and even an old codger that looked like he must have had his last erection in 1987 showed to ogle the winking bellybuttons, exposed thighs, and daring fashions of the Barbican hotties at the video shoot.

It's the first time that Pappa and Razzi have ever seen so many girls dressed up in their finest on a hot, Tuesday afternoon, even the bleached-out face ones who normally scorn the sun like it's something lethal appeared in their numbers. And Kingston, de gal dem hot!

The single debuted at number 44 on the UK singles chart.

"We will be bringing the Digicel Flavour to the islandwide series of events which are being staged under the theme 'Carnival 2006 - Ocean Fix'. neyo.jpgRhythm and blues sensation Ne-Yo grabbed the pole position on three main Billboard charts this week.
