Senior Superintendent of Police Reneto Adams has recorded a single on Truckback's 'Carbine' rhythm which has been generating a lot of buzz in the Jamaican marketplace. The single, called 'To Protect and Serve' appears on the Baseline Production imprint for Truckback Records.

"We approached him with the idea over three months ago, and he liked it, so we recorded the song about five days before his first court appearance. It was a good recording session, he sings the hook: Reneto is here to please the people/I am not here to deceive the people/Disarm anybody who ah harm the people/My uptown, downtown, garrison people. The rest of it is all speech, but it bad like yars, he has it like that," Steve of Baseline Productions, said.

Ya heard it first here, folks. Adidjah Palmer, the man known as the hardcore deejay Vybz Kartel who attracts controversy like Donald Trump earns mega-dollars, is getting married!

YardFlex.com spoke to him late last week about the rumour that was making the rounds in the local entertainment circle. "Right now, is just a big man ting. I am a family man so people should not really be surprised if I decide to tie the knot with someone that I love. I am really excited about the marriage ceremony... a bit nervous, but this is something that I really want to do," said. Vybz Kartel, who was named Stone Love's deejay of the year, recently. He has a number of smash singles this year including 'I Neva', 'Emergency' and even a love song, 'If I Neva See You Again'.

Peter Lloyd has had a great '05. He started the year with the now classic hit single Wake Dem Up, gave one of the most scintillating and memorable performances at the annual Rebel Salute Show, did a stellar job as host of TVJ's very popular Sunday night program Man Talk and closed the year with the massive hit song, Gold Digga on Sly and Robbie's Raw Food riddim.

The single is presently at the number 13 position on the BMobile Dancehall Singles Chart, and is climbing the HYPE TV Chart as well as the MEGA JAMZ's radio chart.

JAMAICA has been mentioned among a host of countries that singer Elton John has fingered for gay rights abuses. The singer recently began a strong advocacy campaign for international gay rights on the eve of his wedding, or "civil partnership" with longtime lover David Furnish in England this week will be "the happiest day of my life. "But, the pop star added he will feel sorry for the many gay couples who live in countries that prohibit such unions.

"It has been a long struggle for equal rights to gay people in Britain, but now, in the 21st century, we have real civil rights, tolerance, and final acceptance in our lives," John wrote in The Observer, a Sunday newspaper.

As the whole nation gets ready for the first-ever explosive reggae festival in Gambian music biz featuring superstar Buju Banton, What's On caught up with the man behind it. Mike Randoll is a Black British who have worked with a lot of popular world musicians. In this interview he talks more about the Buju festival.

What's On: Tells us what role do you play with regards to the coming of Buju Banton to The Gambia?

Mike: My company is called Level 22. We are behind the coming of Buju on Christmas day in The Gambia and also on the 31st December in Sierra Leone.

Out of all the countries in Africa, you only identified The Gambia and Sierra Leone for Buju to perform. Why The Gambia?

Following the impressive release of the leading single, 'We Be Burnin' for the album, The Trinity, Sean Paul is all set to start 'blazin' to new heights and take this one to number 1 on charts worldwide.

With the settings of the video changing to depict all the seasons of the year, the video is one to look out for. New and innovative Dancehall dance moves are showcased by Sean's 3 dancers and they too go through all the changes that the settings do.

Simultaneously, on the other side of the world, Sean Paul is releasing another single, 'Ever Blazin'. 'Ever Blazin' is a little bit more risque and it is not the typical Sean Paul of which we are accustomed. But for this one, you have to watch it for yourself!

The Dancehall quartet T.O.K is now embarking on new grounds, as they will now be adding the term entrepreneurs to their portfolio. The dynamic group will not only be providing their fans with quality music as they have been doing over the years but now they will be marketing a wide range of items from a button to sweatshirts, calendars, tea cups and a lot more.

The items are very rich in colour and display a lot of animations which a can be sported by both parent and child. The animated design idea was made possible by Negash Davidson a graphic designer at Web-FX. He is also responsible for designing T.O.K's website.

Sexy songstress Aisha Davis delighted audiences at a private event at the Hilton Kingston recently. Backed by Fab 5 and flanked by her talented back up singers, Aisha delivered a blistering 20 minutes set that saw her dancing on stage, flirting with audience members and belting out her new single, Shed Those Tears.

The music video for the single, Shed Those Tears, was shot on location in Kingston by celebrity director, Ras Kassa and is in rotation on local national and cable outlets.

Aisha is busy in the studio working on several singles, marking her return to the mainstream following the birth of her son.

Prior to her self imposed hiatus, Aisha was a featured singer with Anthony B on Someone Loves You Honey, the video for which enjoyed strong rotation on US mainstream video stations such as BET and VH1.

Rap diva Foxy Brown took the stage yesterday to detail her hearing-loss agony - saying she hasn't heard a human voice in six months.

"But today, I stand before you blessed with only the voice of God in my ears as a vessel of inspiration."

After a Detroit paper reported in July that Eminem was bowing out of the rap game for good, he spoke out to clarify the future of his music career, explaining that he'd take a break from recording his own rhymes to focus his creative efforts on producing other artists' material. Aidonia's 'Chicken Head' hit on 'Galore' rhythm has been getting crazy airplay, and blowing up all over FM radio in the last couple of weeks.

"We plan to do a music video before the end of the year, crazy concepts, do it the proper way. Young Andrew Cameron is one of the most competent young deejays working on the International Music scene. He may be young in age, at 28, but he is a veteran artiste, having started mashing up stage shows from the age of ten.

"LITTLE WICKED", as he was now called, because of his size and how good he was lyrically registered the fact that he is a talent to be reckoned with. NEW YORK - MTV's annual New Year's Eve party from Times Square will feature musical performances by Kanye West, Adam Levine, Shakira and Fall Out Boy, the network announced on Monday.

The two-hour telecast, which begins at 10:30 p.m. ET (live) and PT (on tape), will have MTV VJ's Damien Fahey, Vanessa Minnillo, Quddus Philippe, La La Vazquez and Susie Castillo as hosts.

Common, All-American Rejects and Young Jeezy will also perform. There will be an appearance by the Rev. Run and his family, MTV said.

"For years, New Year's Eve on MTV has always meant the best new music to our viewers," said David Sirulnick, executive vice president, MTV News and Production. "2005 is no different, with amazing performances from some of the biggest artists from the past year. We will have wall-to-wall music straight through to 2006."

The line-up is segmented into several theme-driven areas such as Peacemakers, Starmakers, 12 Young Superstars, Dancehall Praise, Fabulous Ladies of Dance featuring D'Angel and Macka Diamond, Dancehall Praise featuring Prodigal Son, Super Seven featuring acts like Ras Ghandi and Gyptian, Peace Messenjahs featuring Half Pint, and the last segment which will cap off the show is dubbed, Most Wanted which will feature heavyweights such as Beenie Man and Portmore's homegrown hero, Vybz Kartel.

Engineer/Song writer/Artiste Delano McLaughlin more familiarly known to others by his alias 'Ilano' will no doubt be one of Jamaica's main characters behind the scenes of Jamaica’s Dancehall/reggae music.

Ilano has steadily been in the music industry for over five years now, where he started out in the position of assistant engineer for internationally acclaimed producer Dave Kelly.

Within the first six months on the job Ilano shows tremendous amount of skills that impressed Dave Kelly so, he decided to upgrade his position from assistant to Recording Engineer which saw Ilano taking vocals for well known artiste such as Baby Cham, Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Foxy Brown, Kimani Marley, you name it.

As Ilano got more mature in the business, he then sailed ship to join forces with Ili Dread at Kings of Kings.

Ghandi's popular hit song, 'Bloodshed (Life is So Hard)' is rocketing up the charts, especially Richie B's Tru Juice charts, and is sitting pretty at the #22 spot. The video is getting heavy rotation on CVM, TVJ, Hype, Re TV, Music Plus and Juice TV.

Elephant Man a.k.a. "The Energy God" has returned to Europe for a tour that has received a tremendous response from concert goers. With every show sold out, the artist, known for his impressive on stage antics, looks to wow the audience with hits like "Pon De River," "Jook Gal," "Father Elephant" and his most recent hit "Willie Bounce" which was recently added to New York's Hot 97.

Elephant Man is currently putting the finishing touches on his latest album "Over Di Wall" due out in early 2006. The artist has also recently contributed a track to Funk Master Flex's latest compilation, the new song "The Way We Roll" is starting to pick up momentum on commercial radio.

TORONTO - All hail the new princess of pop! The day after Gwen Stefani picked up five Grammy nominations, including album of the year for her multi-platinum solo debut, Love. Angel. Music.Baby., and record of the year for Hollaback Girl, the 36-year-old singer debuted her first ever solo tour at the Air Canada Centre last night in front of a sold-out crowd.

And if there was any doubt about her royal status in pop music -- she previously fronted Orange County ska-pop outfit No Doubt -- Stefani first appeared in a tiara and robe, and sitting on a red velvet and gold throne that came out of the stage during the opening song Harajuku Girls.

Surrounded by four Japanese girl dancers, the so-called "Harajuku girls," Stefani commanded the audience from the opening note, even if the hour-and-20-minute performance was definitely of the lightweight variety in the music department.

Jeremy Harding recently gave a lecture to the students of the Red Bull Music Academy. Below is an excerpt from a student’s online diary, who attended the session.

"Jamaica's Jeremy Harding, leading exponent of dancefloor riddims, was first up on the couch to break the mold. His lecture explored a wealth of knowledge and experience related to Reggae and Ragga history. From managing and discovering Sean Paul, to Sly and Robbie anecdotes from days gone by, Jeremy's stories niced up the mood and made us wanna whine and grine.

Naturally the conversation took a welcome turn to current affairs - at last a frank and direct commentary on the "ba**y boy" bashing phenomenon that has been in and out of the news for years.

Ce'Cile's 'Woman Ting' radio hit, which appears on Richard Browne's 'Baddis' rhythm, is set to really take off with the release of a video on local cable stations.

"The video premiered last week, and was directed by Julia Braham, and it featured Rolex and local actor, 'Chuchu' from the play Bad Mind. Trust me, the video is hard, everybody loves it, and the buzz is really great now that the video buss. I am just looking forward to the rest of 2005, I have Stone Love anniversary coming up, I leave for Guyana next week, and after that, I have a show in Canada over the Christmas, so it's all good," the sexy singer said.

Badgal Ce'Cile has recently returned from a tour of the United States and is now back in the island preparing her stint, she will showcase on Jamaica's greatest one night reggae show Sting. She also recently had a photo session (Promotional Photos) with Carlington Wilmot one of Jamaica's best Photographers in the entertainment industry.

BACKAYARD prep-mag is a locally produced Jamaican lifestyle publication devoted to promoting the broad scope of the Jamaican music scene, artists, producers, writers and musicians. As the name suggests, BACKAYARD prep-mag is the pre-cursor to BACKAYARD magazine tentatively set for release by year end.

The prep-mag and magazine will not only cover the various genres of reggae music, past and present, but also local designers, hotspots and locally produced goods and services. There will also be features on reggae music and artistes internationally.

The aim of the magazine is to depict the Jamaican lifestyle and music as accurately and unbiased as possible. The magazine's target market lies between the ages of 18 – 35. The prep-mag will be released every other month from now until the magazine is ready to be launched.

The duo, Leftside and Esco, will be pushing out the 'Galore' riddim for the Christmas.

"Basically, we went to Florida and New York did a couple of shows and we loved the response," Esco told YardFlex.com.

In the meantime, the duo's 'Tuck in Your Belly', hit the top ten of London's CHOICE FM radio, and went #1 in Trinidad, catapulting the duo into the limelight. Some of the artistes on the 'Galore' riddim are Vybz Kartel, Bling Dawg, Buju Banton, Wayne Marshall, Beenie Man, Idonia, TOK, Calico, Hollow Point, Future Troubles, Busy Signal and Tami Chynn.

You'd be hard pressed to find a more humble artiste than singer Gyptian. He has been able to retain his easygoing persona even though he has been bombarded by accolades and hailed by many admirers since his smash hit, 'Serious Times'.

The powerful hit, 'Serious Times', is a song carved in reggae oak - solid. The terrific trifecta of Gyptian's rich, ice-cube clear sound, the mournful drums of noted Nyabinghi drummer, Bongo Herman, and the sweet saxophone of Tony Green have made the song a bona fide hit that has made FM radio in Jamaica sit up and pay attention.

It has graduated to cult status, becoming a ghetto anthem on the lips of the poverty-stricken masses. The song is all at once a call to action, a sad commentary on the country's spiraling murder count, and an earnest advice column to young males on how to survive these most 'serious of times'.

Even though TOK is quite busy promoting their album, Unknown Language, they have shot once again another local video, Hotter.

It was shot at Passa Passa as well as by the Old Cinema in Downtown Kingston a few weeks ago by Nordia Rose. Female deejay, Ce'Cile, Monsta Twins, Supa Hype, DJ Kareem and producer John John were among those in the biz who passed through.

TOK can be seen here in Jamaica this Christmas before they head off to tour Japan.

They perform at Smirnoff Experience's "Party with the Stars", Teen Splash as well as the GT Taylor show in St. Elizabeth. They will also be trekking across the Gulf to do some shows in the State.

Sexy girl group The Pussycat Dolls want dancehall star Sean Paul to help them continue their dominance of the pop charts.

After topping charts across the world with debut single Don't Cha, the six-piece have set their sights on a collaboration with the Jamaican We Be Burnin' hitmaker.

Pussycat Nicole Scherzinger says, "We love Sean as much as he loves us, if not more. We want to do something with him musically - Dolls meets dancehall."

The famous One Love Peace Concert by legendary reggae artiste Bob Marley in Kingston on April 22, 1978, has been named among the world's greatest rock gigs.

The concert placed sixth on a list of 20 rock performances compiled by United Kingdom television station, Channel 4 and voted on by a panel of some 60 artistes, music journalists, broadcasters and music industry executives.

William 'Super Cat' Maragh was badly assaulted by Long Island police officers over the US Thanksgiving weekend, recently. The alleged beating took place in Long Island, NY outside of the Off Track Betting (OTB).

YardFlex.com tried to get confirmation of the alleged beating from officers based in Long Island precinct but this attempt was unsuccessful.

However, sources suggest that Super Cat attended the OTB with a friend and after placing a bet with the cashier, he noticed that it was not the bet that he wanted. When he returned to the cashier to rectify the situation, the cashier responded by telling him that the race had already begun and there was nothing that could be done at that point. Super Cat was upset by this and began to raise his voice, and by all indications, created a scene.

Ace deejay Alozade is making a spectacular comeback in the performance side of the music business after taking some time off to concentrate on producing rhythms. His latest single, 'Bad Out De' on the Baddest Ting rhythm by Richard 'Shams' Browne is earning crazy forwards in the dancehall.

"That song is getting some really good responses in Canada, the United States and the Carribean. Recently, I performed at Asylum's anniversary party, and mi get whole heap a forward,ah the show, the people dem give me crazy love," Alozade told YardFlex.com.

Jamie Foxx will star in The Kingdom for Universal Pictures, reports Variety. The film to be directed by Peter Berg (The Rundown, Friday Night Lights), produced by Michael Mann and written by Matthew Michael Carnahan, is aiming for a May start date.

Foxx will play the leader of a team of U.S. counter-terrorism investigators who set out to find the perpetrators behind a deadly attack on Americans in a Middle Eastern country. In order to work through the bureaucracy and cultural hostility, the team enlists a local police officer, but still find itself target for the terrorists.

The film marks the fourth in which Mann and Foxx have worked together. Foxx co-stars with Colin Farrell in Mann's upcoming Miami Vice adaptation, scheduled for release July 28. He also starred in Mann's Collateral and Ali.

Natty King, a popular dancehall reggae artiste known for the hit single, 'Don't Bring Your Guns to Town', was arrested and charged by a contingent of special qquad police in Portland for possession of ganja last Wednesday.

Natty King, who is a resident of Bath in St. Thomas rose to prominence after recording the abovementioned hit song which topped overseas and local reggae charts for several weeks. Both men were granted bail in the sum of $10,000 each and are booked to appear in the Buff Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on December 13 to answer to the charge.

The police say Natty King was spotted at a Texaco service station, smoking ganja at 2 a.m. He was accompanied by a colleague, 36 year old Uriel Phillips, also call "Fire Lion", when both were arrested for smoking the illegal drug.
